Review: Favourites from the Boxes, February 2016

These last few months was all about rehydration for my skin. This winter has been pretty mild but unlike other years my skin has been very dry and flaky.

There were three items from my boxes that I really enjoyed this month and I also added one that I did not like.

My Faves…

Nova Scotia Fisherman Xtreme Lip Care in Sea Salt and Caramel, Topbox November 201520160305_110710_resizedThis doesn’t look the prettiest and the packaging is a bit awkward but the smell is so good and it’s very moisturizing. I like that this is 100% natural and that each sale of their product benefits the Nature Conservancy of Canada. All really great pluses, but this is really saving my lips this season. After I exfoliate my lips I like to put this on and go to sleep so that when I wake up I have smooth and supple lips.

Crown Brush Pointed Crease, Ipsy November 201520160305_110611_resizedI knew when I first received this brush I was going to like it. It’s dome shaped and synthetic so it’s really great for blending out the edges of my eye shadow. This is a really a great brush, I even pick this up for blending over the brushes I loved before.

Nourish Organic Argan Face Serum with Apricot & Rose Hip, Ipsy October 2015 IMG-20160226-WA0003I am really loving this serum for my face. The consistancy is actually more like an oil and is very thin. I have to store this with the lid sticking upwards so that it doesn’t leak all over my counter which is kind of a drawback. BUT! This is so amazing for my skin that I can look past it’s terrible packaging. Good thing their full size is a pump. This makes putting on my makeup so easy because my skin feels really smooth and hydrated.

My Not-so-Fave…

Dr Jart+ Water-Full Hydrogel Mask, Birch box January 2016 20160221_151623_resizedThis mask was supposed to help rehydrate the skin but I jus didn’t get that. The gel was even too thick that I had a hard time keeping this on my face. I was not really impressed with how my skin felt afterwards, I didn’t feel any extra hydrated. I was pretty disappointed in this product especially since it retails on the Birchbox website for $9.00!

So that’s it this month. Did you receive anything in your boxes that you loved or hated?

Let me know

Lots of Luv,

Dal

  1. Oooh that Nova Scotia Fisherman Xtreme Lip Care in Sea Salt and Caramel sounds great! (Looks, not so much 😛 )
That Crown Brush Pointed Crease looks like the Sephora one I have that I love – just the perfect size and stiffness to blend.
Too bad the Dr Jart+ Water-Full Hydrogel Mask didn’t work out – that stuff’s not cheap either! I got a hydro gel mask off ebay – I should try it to see how I like it. I’m so used to the traditional paper sheet masks – and those are usually less than $2 a pop.
