Topbox is a Canadian monthly subscription service that introduces customers to beauty items. Each month you have the option of getting a surprise box or to swap it for a prive box in which all the products are from one brand and you know what they are.
This month I swapped my surprise for a prive item. I only got one item so this will be the shortest unboxing ever!
Topbox was offering the opportunity to try a few things from TOLAN Skincare and after reading more about them on the web I decided that I really wanted to try their line. Also, they were founded in British Columbia and now based in Ottawa, and I’m all about supporting Canadian brands.
I received the Age Defense cream which is a fast absorbing cream made with essential oils to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. This product is paraben-free, hypo-allergenic with no artificial preservatives, fragrances or colours. Also, they don’t test on animals. What drew me to this line was that it is all natural and I can read and understand most ingredients in this line which makes me feel good about it.They also have a page on their website that breaks down what each ingredient is and what it does! I love that because I can become a more informed consumer.
Now I haven’t tried this yet so I can’t speak to whether or not I like this product, but so far I’ve put a pump on my hand to get my first impression. To start off, it’s smells like a plant, maybe even cut grass and it’s pretty strong at first but the smell does dissipate. My hand where I put the product does feel really good, but we’ll see how I like it on my face.
My Thoughts
I am really happy I decided to swap my box for a different product, it’s one of the things I really like about Topbox. It’s a full size bottle so I’ll really get a good feel for how I like it and if I don’t I at least know I didn’t spend the full size price for it. Total value of my box: $55.00

Never heard of Tolan before – so cool it’s Canadian and quite affordable. I like that page you linked that explains the purpose of each ingredient – I’m an ingredient list junkie! I like checking up on Paula’s Choice: http://www.paulaschoice.com/cosmetic-ingredient-dictionary/

I think it’s neat you swapped your “surprise” box for this one product… I mean, what were you going to get anyway, a hotel sized shampoo, a skincare that isn’t meant for your skin type and a blue loose eye shadow? 😉 😛

Ha! You alwats give me such a good laugh! Being able to swap my box is a reason I stick with Topbox- I can now try a product Id actually be interested in. Always beats a hotel shampoo any day!
And the paulas choice link is super useful! Id rate it a “best”, haha! Im finding more and more that ingredients are important!

This seemed like something I would enjoy. The product seemed pretty smooth on the skin (just by looking at the photo though) and great review as always!!

I chose and received the Tolan product as well. It is a full size and a great value!! I like the product and the pump deepens er as well.

Yep! Do you find it smells more like a plant? Sometimes I think it smells like grass..haha! I guess that’s because they use natural ingredients. It feels really good when I put it on – such a good cream!
