Having dry skin, I need to be careful with the types of cleansers that I use so I don’t irritate my skin. I also like cleansers that provide a deep clean. I have been using the Alengist Purifying & Replenishing Cleanser for the past few weeks wanted to share my thoughts.
What this claims to do:
- Replenishes moisture, softens, and balances skin while removing dirt and makeup and diminishing the appearance of pores
- Daily cleanser that effectively removes makeup and purifies the skin
- Skin feels nourished, refreshed, and supple after use
Active Ingredients:
- Chamomile and Cucumber extract: Soothe skin.
- Microalgae Oil: Replenishes essential moisture and nourishes.
- Vitamin B: Conditions and moisturises.
Price: $35.00 at Sephora. This is quite pricey for me. I will point out that it is an 8 oz bottle and based on my usage I can see it lasting me a while.
Packaging: I really love that this a pump. I like its simple design as well, the bottle looks like something you would get prescribed, I guess this gives it a medical-grade feel.
Performance: I use about 1/2 to one pump each time I wash my face. I think it’s enough to build a nice lather. It is not too bubbly but feels very creamy when I work it into my skin. My skin feels really clean right after I wash it, but unlike other cleansers, it doesn’t feel like a lot my natural oils have been washed off too. With certain cleansers, my skin can feel extremely dry afterwards and I have to put cream on immediately so that my face doesn’t feel tight and dehydrated.
I’ve been using this both morning and night for about two weeks and I have noticed that my skin feels and looks really clear. I don’t notice my pores either. Note that I have also been more diligent with toner lately so it could be because of that too. I love how well this removes my makeup. It washes everything away so I’m not left with any makeup residue. It’s even tough enough to remove Benefit’s They’re Real Liner and my waterproof mascaras and doesn’t irritate my eyes!
My Thoughts: Although I really like this, I don’t think that I will be repurchasing it once I’ve finished my bottle. There are other facial cleansers that I like a lot more than this (review coming soon) that cost a lot less.
Have you tried anything from the Algenist Line? What is your favourite facial cleanser?
Lots of Luv,

Algenist in general is such a pricey brand. My friend swore by one of their creams but it was $100+ I just can’t justify that.
I was kind of glad to read that you found a cheaper option that you like better (looking forward to learn what that is!) – nothing worse than finding HG status with a high price product! (that’s sometimes why I won’t even TRY an expensive product sample… ignorance is bliss lol!)
At night I use oil cleansing + micellar waters, but in the mornings I use a light foaming cleanser. My favourite by far is from Shiseido: Benefiance Extra Creamy Cleansing Foam. It costs $45 for a tube but no joke, a full sized tube lasts me at LEAST 8 months with daily use!

There are so many options that are a lot cheaper that work really well. I dont know what compelled me to purchase this in the first place (maybe it was the girl at Sephora – haha)
Ooh! I like light foaming cleansers. Never tried any by Shiseido, Ill keep it in the back of my mind
