Price:
$47.00 CAD from Sephora
What it Claims:
Infused with skin-balancing Amazonian clay and chamomile, vitamins A, C, and E, and sodium hyaluronate, this multitasking, tinted moisturizer hydrates, brightens, treats, and protects skin from UV rays and free radical damage with SPF 20. (Sephora)
I love the added skin benefits in this product (which is what I love about BB Creams in general).
Packaging:
I really like this simple packaging. It’s just a squeeze tube for quick application. I also really like the cord cap, just a little something extra and cute.Application & Coverage:
I preferred applying this with my fingers as I would a moisturizer. The coverage is barely-there which you can build to light coverage. It was perfect for “no-makeup” days because it would even out my skin tone without making me look like I had anything on and I liked the added SPF.
At first, I worried that tint I got was a bit too dark but light-medium ended up being good for me especially since it blends in more sheer (plus with a tan in the summer it matched me well).
Although I like this for every day there are a few downsides to this tint and one is that there are specks of sparkle in the formula. I only notice this when I’m in direct sunlight or under really bright lights so for me I can get away with wearing this in the office or at home. However, I would definitely not wear this outside as I’m afraid the sparkles would be more noticeable which is a shame because the added SPF should make it perfect for outdoors. I think this was meant to give that “brightening” effect as the claim says but in the wrong way. The other thing I find is that my skin feels a bit more oily at first application, and I need to add a bit of powder to make it feel more matte. Since I have normal-dry skin in the summer and I feel like it’s bearable but I’m not sure how well it may work for someone with combination skin. What I like:
- Feels lightweight
- Easy application
- Sheer coverage
- Built-in SPF
What I don’t like:
- Feels a bit oily at first
- Major disco vibes thanks to the sparkle (haha)
My thoughts
If you like BB Creams, this one is alright, but I have others that I much prefer. It’s a bit pricey and although I like all the added benefits of this formula, the sparkle and oily feeling get really annoying. I’ll use this product up, but I don’t think I will be repurchasing.
Have you tried Tarte’s Amazonian Clay BB Cream? What are your thoughts? Have any other BB Cream Favourites?
Lots of Love,
Dal
That is too bad that it has the disco ball effect! I love BB creams but find that most have very limited shade ranges.

I agree, I can never get a perfect match and usually end up with a shade too dark for me (except with Benefit).
Looking like I dusted my face with gold glitter isn’t exactly my style for everyday either haha!

Phew, I’m glad you mentioned the sparkles. So here’s my embarrassing story with this product. I was TOTALLY going to buy this back in January. I was at Sephora and there was a Tarte rep at the stand. She tested it on my jaw area and I felt a little pressured to buy it – normally I like to get a sample first. So I line up with this and some other stuff (this was during boxing week sales) and then I see the swatches that I had put on the back of my hand under different light. SPARKLE CITY! Did not expect that. Instead of walking back to the Tarte display, I stashed the box in one of the displays in the check out line. 😛 😮 (sorry Sephora employee) But for some reason, I’m still curious about this – I might still get a sample! I had a Revlon foundation that has some shimmer and I did like it for the winter months.

Haha!! I’ve done that before – like you I sometimes cave under the pressure to buy a product and totally thrown items in temptation aisle before! The Sephora near me is just pure chaos so there are always misplaced products there (seriously poor employees)
I bought this online so I was just taking a gamble. I don’t hate it or else I would have just returned it. As far as coverage this really is great but it’s seriously sparkly. No harm in picking up a sample though – I’d be interested to see how you like it.

Will do! I’m plan to get some foundation samples at Sephora. Been wanting this one and also the Nars Luminous one! Anything else you’d recommend?

Mmmm most foundations I’ve picked up from Sephora are ok- maybe try UD all nighter- the oxidation is bad but I still think the coverage and finish is wicked. But get a few shade ranges and a large sample to try. Also, I’m going to put up a review of Benefits better than BB big easy. It’s called a complexion perfector but its BB cream. I’ve had it for quite a while and still gravitate for it. Try that one
Oh! I wanted to ask! What are your top three faves from Shisiedo? I’ve got some shoppers points I’d like to burn – I have their powder and it’s changed my makeup game!!!
