Winter is brutal on my skin and can be painful for my lips as well because they tend to get really dry and cracked. Below are some items that help keep my lips hydrated.
One of the most important things I do to improve my overall skin hydration is drinking a lot of water. In the winter it’s mostly in the form of teas but regardless water is essential to keeping my lips hydrated.
Fresh Sugar Lip Polish
You may have seen this item in my Project Pan for 2018 if not, you missed that post and can read it here! If I’m applying a lip treatment or balm I like to exfoliate first to remove the dead skin. The texture is gritty but the brown sugar granulas are really small and feel smooth.
I enjoy this scrub because it has shea butter and jojoba oil to help condition the lips. It is a really comfortable scrub.
Dr Lipp Original Nipple Balm for Lips
I’ve mentioned this product a few times on the blog and it’s amazing that even after so much time and trying other products I still enjoy this the best. The texture of this is like a thick petroleum jelly and it has no colour. It can feel pretty tacky so I prefer to use this at night. I also love this for my cuticles too.
Their website has a multitude of uses for this balm. It has the funniest name but it’s a intensely hydrating gel that I can imagine it being really great for breastfeeding moms! I mean, that’s what it was originally for anyways. I think if you suffer from extremely dry lips this is a must.
Nova Scotia Fisherman Xtreme Lip Care
Another product I’ve mentioned before on the blog numerous times is this lip balm from Nova Scotia Fisherman. I love this because it’s extremely hydrating but feels light on the lips.
The product looks like it’s about to crumble apart because I use it so much. This lives on my vanity so in the morning I’ll put this on my lips to prep them while I put on my makeup.
Bite Beauty Agave Lip Balm
How could I possibly have a list of favourite lip treatments without including this guy! This is such a nice light formula that I keep this in my purse and spread it on my lips whenever they start to feel dry throughout the day.
It can feel slippery on the lips but I like that it almost feels like a barrier against the colder elements. I also have the lip mask and sugar scrub in the Agave line that I enjoy as well.
IÂ love other lip products but I find that right now these four are perfect for my lips day to night. What are your favourite lip items for winter?
Lots of Love,
Dal

I really like layering lip balms at night these days and find that it really helps! I use Lanolips and a thick layer of anything else, to be honest! X

I love the Nova Scotia Fisherman Xtreme Lip Care! I recently rediscovered mine in my stash… 😛
And yes, the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Balm is in my purse right now! So good.
I’m also really enjoying the skull lip balm from Rebels Refinery:

They sell it at the Bay Beauty Underground on Queen st at $8 each only. Made in Toronto and organic, feels so emollient – plus fun to use. I’ve tried all the scents and my favourite is the Passion Fruit one! Way better than EOS. Not purse friendly but it’s a conversation piece on my desk at work. 😉

The lip scrub sounds nice, I’ve never used one but they do seem useful for removing dry skin. My winters probably don’t get as cold as yours and I find my lips don’t get too chapped or dry. I normally apply a balm before I go to bed to keep them nice and supple. Currently I’m alternating between a Clarins Lip Oil and a Vaseline Cocoa Butter balm 🙂

Oh lucky you!! Our winters are pretty cold. You probably don’t need a scrub seems a balm is good enough for you. I love the Clarins lip oil. I almost added it to the list but I wanted to keep it short and sweet.
