I may not wear them all the time, but I’m drawn to colourful eyeshadows. When I saw Kat Von D’s new 10 Year Anniversary Palette in the Just Arrived section of Sephora I just knew I wanted it for my collection! I’ve been playing with this for the last few weeks and I wanted to share my thoughts. I know this is a limited edition palette but it’s currently still available on Sephora.com.

What it is

16 bold, blendable shades in honour of the brand’s 10th Anniversary. In honour of this milestone, Kat hand-picked a special selection of shades inspired by and named after 16 of her muses—people of all backgrounds, ages, genders, and skin tones—representing the many faces of Kat Von D Beauty. (Sephora.com)

Price

$62.00 CAD (0.96 oz/27.2 g). Compared to the Sinner and Saint holiday palette, which I reviewed back in November (you can read it here) this palette is $20 less for the same amount of product. This breaks down to $2.28/gram.

Packaging

This is my favourite packaging so far from Kat Von D Beauty. The palette is compact with a beautifully hand-drawn image on the front. I love the gold colour of the package. I do wish the colour name was on the front but you can see them on the back. It also has a nice large mirror on the inside.

Colour

Each of the colours is beautiful and bright. I enjoy the addition of neutral and everyday shades that can be used to build up the colour eyeshadows in the palette or worn on their own. I think this is probably the best colour arrangement for me and I would probably use this solely if I was to travel because I would have everything I need in one palette. Compared to the Sinner and Saint Palette, I think these ones are much richer. When swatching, lala and carolyn are not as pigmented, but they do apply better on the eyes.

Application & Wear

I wore two different looks in the photos below but each one was super easy to put together. There is little fallout for the mattes and the colour payoff is fantastic! Not all the colours swatch as well, but on the eyes, I thought it looked really nice (which is really what matters). I was worried that a lot of the colours were similar to the Sinner and Saint Palette but after I compared the two I did find they were different, with no two shades being alike. Not to say there aren’t reds, blues, oranges and purples in both palettes but I think the ones in the Anniversary palette are a much more vibrant, and better laid out in the palette. I find I can make more cohesive looks with this palette without thinking too hard about it.

One thing I noticed is that when I first used the metallic shades I had a lot of fallout and I mean half the shadow was on my face! To remedy this I tried using Mac Fix+ which did help but I found they were best applied with my Too Faced Glitter Glue underneath. That’s something I didn’t experience as much in the Sinner and Saint Palette.

I wore these for evenings out and each time they latest and looked very good after a few hours. I did wear primer which I know helped with longevity.

I also picked up the Tattoo liner in the anniversary packaging because I thought it was super cute. I’ve reviewed this liner before which you can read here but I really love it and use it all the time.

Let me know if you’ve purchased this palette and your thoughts!

Lots of love,
Dal
