My birthday was in early February and I did quite a bit of shopping to celebrate. I bought myself the Dyson Airwrap (review coming soon!), some coats that I needed for winter, and new skincare and makeup from Sephora. To be honest, I really didn’t need anything from Sephora but I was really drawn by all the Lunar New Year items. I ended up putting in two separate orders and was able to snag a few really good Beauty offers each time so it made it worth it to me.

Here’s what I purchased;

Sephora Favourites Year of the Tiger Set

This set is filled with so many great brands and all are products that I would definitely use. It was $49.00 CAD with a $242.00 value. I really like the range of skincare products like Shiseido, Glow Recipe, Laneige, and Clarins. I’m a huge fan of Joe Malone so I like that this included a deluxe sample of their Peony & Blush Suede Cologne. I’ve gotten a lot of Sephora Favourites sets and this is one of the nicer ones I’ve bought.

Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Magnetic Spirit Eyeshadow Palette

Lately, I’ve completely simplified how I wear my eye makeup. Before I used to wear 3-4 different shades but now I just swipe one shade all over my lids and then blend it out around my crease. Since I’ve changed up how I apply my eye makeup I wanted to get an all shimmery palette that I could wear in this way. When I saw this palette I was drawn to the shades so I decided I’d get it.

Cinema Secrets Makeup Brush Cleaner

I like using this makeup brush cleaner as a quick way to wash my brushes in between deep cleaning them. This is surprisingly good at cleaning brushes, the only downside is that it tends to dry some of them out. My current bottle was getting low so I figured now was a great time to repurchase.

The Original MakeUp Eraser, Iridescent 7-Day MakeUp Eraser Set

I have and love the larger size MakeUp Eraser so when I saw that there was a smaller 7-day version of it I had to pick them up. You can read my original review of the Makeup Eraser. The original sized Makeup Eraser is long enough that I can use it over 4-5 times by using each side at a time, however, with these smaller pads, I can use one each night which a quite prefer. They also have a great little pattern on them too. This set came with a scrunchie and was inside a mesh bag. I’m not sure if the bag is machine washable but it looks like it can be which makes washing these with all my laundry convenient because they are so small I wouldn’t want them to get stuck inside my machine. I also love that this has a little strap which makes it easier to hold. I think if you’re debating on getting the Makeup Eraser, I would actually suggest getting it in the smaller pad format versus the one large cloth.

Beauty Offers (Gifts with Purchase & Beauty Insider Points Redemption Items)

TULA Skincare On The Go: Bestsellers Travel Kit

This never happens to me, but I finally got a 1500 points redemption set! Usually, there is so little in stock of these that I can never get my hands on them but for once my timing was right and I was able to get the Tula Bestsellers Travel Kit which included a sweater and hat. The hat is pretty standard but the sweater is actually decent and warm, I’ve worn it quite a few times now. The skincare set itself is actually something you can purchase for $69.00CAD on Sephora and it includes; Purifying Face Cleanser, Exfoliating Sugar Scrub, Hydrating Day & Night Cream, Brightening Treatment Drops Triple Vitamin C Serum, and a reusable travel bag. This has some mixed reviews but I’ve never tried this brand before so the travel kit is a good way to test some of their items out.

Sephora Gold Celebrations Bag

This was a Beauty Offers item that you could add if you spent over $100. It’s full of a lot of great deluxe-sized samples of a lot of products and brands that I like. The items are similar to Sephora Favourites Year of The Tiger Set I listed above but it came with a different Jo Malone scent and also a nice gold travel bag. I love when Sephora actually offers a decent gift with a purchase set like this.

Tatcha Skincare Beauty Insider Birthday Gift

I wasn’t too excited about any of the sets offered for the Beauty Insider Birthday gift. I think a lot of items were repeats of past years, including this Tatcha Skincare set. The only new item was a set for Olaplex but fit was out of stock when I was shopping, plus I’ve got other great hair care items that I’ve been using lately so I didn’t care to wait for it to come back in stock. Out of the options that were available I chose Tatcha, I always get good use out of a face cleanser and moisturizer so this is what I went for.

Farmacy Feel Good Skincare Duo

I redeemed some of my Beauty Insider Points for this duo. I do like a lot of skincare from Farmacy but they can be on the pricier side, so whenever I can get a few deluxe samples I pick them up. I’ve used and loved the Filling Good Serum with Hyaluronic Acid so this was a good way to get it again.

There you have it. The items I bought myself in celebration of my birthday. I feel like this time around I got a good balance of paid-for and free (or points redeemed) items which definitely makes it feel like getting some extra presents.

Lots of Love,
Dal
