Summer Morning Routine with Garnier

I’m constantly switching up my routine for morning and evening in hopes that I find the best products for my skin each season and because I simply get tired of using the same thing over and over.

The last few weeks I’ve been testing some items sent to me from Garnier that I’ve worked into my morning routine.

Let’s start with my first step; cleansing. I love cleansers that have citrus scents especially to help wake me up in the morning and the Clearly Brighter Gentle Smoothing Scrub* is really nice for that.
Morning Routine 2017_LBL (9)I don’t usually do exfoliating cleansers everyday because of their rough texture but this is surprisingly really soft and gentle on my skin. The formula is like a gel cleanser with argun nut shell. I find the the shells feel really smooth. Garnier claims that this can be used for all skin types including sensitive skin.
Morning Routine Collage1 It helps to smooth my skin and prep it for my next step which is whatever face spray I have at hand.

Recently, I’ve been using a sample of Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist. This spray is really nice to hydrate my skin and prep it for moisturizer. Morning Routine 2017_LBL (1)It has a beautiful rose scent that I personally like. I also love the mist this creates, it’s very fine but wide so two-three sprites will cover my whole face.

My next step after that is moisturizer. There usually isn’t a moisturizer I don’t like and the Moisture Rescue* is no exception.
Morning Routine 2017_LBL (3)This is simply a great everyday fragrance-free and oil-free moisturizer that feels really light on the skin and absorbs really quickly.
Morning Routine Collage2It has Vitamin C and E and an SPF of 15. I appreciate the SPF, even if in the summer I’d want a bit more, I like that it has any coverage.

My stand out product for the morning is the Ombrelle Ultra Advanced Tinted Lotion with SPF 60*.
Morning Routine 2017_LBL (6)I did try a tinted lotion last year from Clinque which I quite enjoyed for my face but this one from Garnier has a higher SPF. This is non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores), water resistant for up to 80 minutes, and hypoallergenic. I also LOVE that this is fragrance free. I really don’t like the smell of sunscreen so I’m glad I don’t have it here. This is a mineral sunscreen which is new to me.
Morning Routinge Collage3Upon further reading I found that unlike most sunscreens mineral sunscreen doesn’t get absorbed into the skin but instead sits on top and reflects the suns rays. I mostly just love this because it feels really nice on the skin and the tint gives me a little bit of coverage. For the summer I move away from foundation so I use mostly BB Creams to add a bit of coverage and then use concealer around my eye area or where I need more coverage. This does the same thing but has a really high SPF so I won’t need to worry if I’m out in the sun all day.

My next steps after this are to add my makeup which I might post since my makeup over the summer is pretty minimal but great for those who like to rock a simpler look like I do!

What’s your morning routine like? What steps do you take?

Lots of Love,
Dal

Bye Bye Empties, June 2018

It is finally summer! Woohoo! The last few days in Toronto have been HOT and I love it! I’m naturally always cold so I enjoy being really warm. It’s been a busy month for work, but now that our move is done I can go back to focusing on more personal items. I have some fun stuff planned for July and depending on what I end up doing I might share some of them on the blog.

Last month I used up so many products that I wasn’t surprised I only had 5 empties for June. I still wanted to share them because then I can let you know my thoughts and I personally like to keep a record of it for myself too!

Skincare

June Empties 2018_LBL (3)

L’Oreal Revitalift Bright Reveal Brightening Day Lotion. Last month I used up the brightening daily pads and this month I’ve used up day lotion. I’m sure next month I’ll use up the night cream and daily scrub that came in this range I received from Influenster. This has 30 SPF which isn’t high, but was still good for at least the winter and early spring when I was using this the most. Unlike a lot of creams I own this one didn’t absorb into my skin as quickly as others I’ve used, but it was really mositurizing and I did like the added sun protection. I do have other daily lotions I enjoy so I wouldn’t repurchase this one.

Yves Rocher Sebo Specific Ultra Clean Purifying Cream Cleanser. I used this maybe once a week whenever I wanted to deep clean my skin. It has a clay-like consistancy with little micro-exfoliants. I really did enjoy this so I would repurchase it.

Clinque Super City Block 40 SPF. Over the past few years I’ve been wearing this under my makeup to protect it in the sun. If you’re interested in a full review of this product you can read it here. The consistancy was a bit thick so I would mix a little bit of my moisturizer in this. Since first testing this product I’ve tried many other daily moisturizing sunscreens that I prefer, including one from Garnier which you can read about here. I won’t be repurchasing this.

Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate. According to Shiseido’s website this strengthens skin against daily damage and visible signs of aging for skin that’s 28% stronger in just 1 week. I always just think of it as a magical skincare product because it just works so well on my skin to enhance the effects of whatever moisturizer I wear. I feel like my skin feels a lot firmer whenever I use this. It’s a very nice serum. It’s a pretty expensive product, but I’ve been collecting little sample sizes of this so I still have a few more before I run out. One of these tiny 10ml bottles actually lasts me about two months because you don’t need to use to much.

Oral Care

June Empties 2018_LBL (4)

Marvis Toothpaste. For my birthday a few months back I asked for Marvis toothpaste and my cousins were sweet enough to get me a trial set of their different flavours (my pack had licorice, ginger, lavendar and various mint flavours). My first empty of this line is the Ginger Mint which I thought was really tasty! I don’t really like a lot of toothpastes because the mint in them can be harsh, but the mint taste in the Marvis toothpaste is stuble and the ginger flavour isn’t overbearing or spicy which I liked a lot. It leaves me with fresh breath and super clean feeling teeth. If you dislike most drugstore toothpaste you might enjoy these. I’m currently testing other flavours but I think I’m hooked for life and would continue to repurchase these.

So that’s it! Only five empties to share for the month, but I have a feeling I’ll have more for next month. What products did you use up in June? Ever have a month where you don’t use up as many items as you hoped?

Lots of love,
Dal

Full Size: $32.00 (30 ml), Sample Size:
$16.00 (15 ml)

UnboxingTobox_April 2018_LBL (2)

This year the Australia Brand, Nude by Nature, made its way into Canada and I’ve been curious ever since to give their items a try. The brand is based on the philosophy of creating makeup that is good for you. It is committed to providing 100% naturally derived and cruelty-free makeup that is formulated without unnecessary chemicals, synthetic ingredients or preservatives often found in cosmetics. This is a smoothing, silicone-free primer.

Glow for a Cause Natural Lip Balm
Full Size: $6.00 (4.25g), this is a full-size item

UnboxingTobox_April 2018_LBL (7)

Glow for a Cause is a passionate project by Johanna Querry Smith, a teacher, artist and skincare products. Whenever you purchase a product you are giving back to the non-profit organizations they are partnered with! I love brands with such amazing initiatives like this. I always love a new lip balm, especially since I just used one up this month!

Klorane Dry Shampoo with Nettle
Full Size: $15.00 (150 ml), Sample Size: $5.00 (50 ml)

UnboxingTobox_April 2018_LBL (5)

I don’t use too much dry shampoo but I don’t think this would work for me anyways because it’s made for oily hair. I know some friends who might actually enjoy this so I’m probably going to pass it along to them. This has a light tint that should blend in naturally into brown to dark hair.

Skin&CO Truffle Therapy Boosting Anti-Aging Serum
Full Size: $80.00 (30 ml), Sample Size: $13.33 (5 ml)

UnboxingTobox_April 2018_LBL (6)

An anti-ageing serum! YES! YES! YES!! After cleansing, you apply a few drops of this over the face twice daily. You let it absorb and then use a moisturizer. I’m really excited to try this item especially since it’s pretty pricey!

BONUS! Garnier Whole Blends Oat Delicacy Shampoo and Conditioner Packets

UnboxingTobox_April 2018_LBL (9)

With my hair shorter, I might be able to get 2 uses out of these packets. I actually enjoy the Whole Blends line and the Oat Delicacy is made for Delicate Hair and Sensitive Scalp.

My Thoughts

I like that I got skincare and a primer in this box! They are items that I use quite a bit so I appreciate trying new ones. I look forward to testing out an item from Nude by Nature too. The only item that I won’t use is the dry shampoo. I wish that was made for dry or normal hair since mine is far from oily, but I will be able to pass it on so it’s not a complete loss.  Total Value: $40.33 CAD!

Did you receive Topbox? What did you think of this month’s box?

Also, have you tried anything from Nude by Nature? If so, what product recommendations might you have?

Lots of Love,
Dal

Bye Bye Empties: March 2018

Happy Easter and April Fools!

March was a pretty great month! The weather is continually warming up and I had some fun things planned. I’m a bridesmaid for my best friend’s wedding and I started looking at some dresses. I’m really lucky that she’s given all her bridesmaids the ability to choose whatever dress they want. It was nice to hang out with everyone and I’ll keep you posted as the Wedding draws closer (it’ll be in October this year).

I also did something really drastic with my hair! I cut it! Whoot! It has been a few years since I’ve seen a hairdresser and I usually trim my hair on my own but I finally chopped it off! I was really tired of it!

Here are some of the items that I was able to empty this month;

Face Masks

The Face Shop MASK.LAB Anti-Aging Foil Face Mask. This foil mask came in my February Topbox. I’ve never tried a foil mask before so I was really interested in what made this different. I’ve included a photo of my tin man moment because I thought it was fun to share! The mask is a foil on the outside with a traditional sheet mask fused on the inside (to absorb the serum). The foil trapped the heat so my face felt warm. Nothing uncomfortable but worth mentioning. Also, the foil stopped any access product from dripping which I really loved. I would definitely purchase this again.

Biobelle Cosmetics Sheet Mask in #iwokeuplikethis. This was a 3 mask set in my June BoxyCharm. I think this is good sheet mask that left my skin feeling really nice. I don’t know if it made it more glowy but it did make makeup application afterwards really easy. I don’t know if they ship to Canada but it looks like they have other really good masks on the Biobelle website. I’d be interested in testing out more.

Skincare

MarchEmpties2018_LBL3

Garnier SkinActive Makeup Removing Micellar Wipes. If you read my post on makeup removers you’ll know that I really love this product. The wipe itself is a decent thickness and it feels really soft on the skin. I don’t feel like I’m tugging at my face when I use this and it removes my makeup easily. I’ve actually got other makeup wipes to try, including one from Marcelle that I’m really loving but I’m likely going to repurchase this one again.

Laneige Water Sleeping Mask. I got this deluxe sample of this from Sephora. I got a good two weeks worth of product out of this so not bad at all! The mask was really light and hydrating and was also more gel-like. I liken it to Clinique’s moisture surge. I did like this but I would like some anti-ageing properties in my skincare so I’m not sure if I will repurchase it.

Lancome Energie De Vie the Smoothing and Plumbing Pearly Lotion. I did not care for this lotion. It didn’t hydrate or plump my skin. It had this weird slushy-like consistency. I won’t be repurchasing it.

GlamGlow Nude Glow Primer. I should have probably put this with my makeup empties but since it ended up in the photo with my skin care I’ll just talk about it here. I love this primer because it is illuminating. It has an interesting Flinestone Vitamins type of scent but it wasn’t anything unbearable. I loved wearing this under foundation and if I didn’t already have a Becca backlight primer open I would likely purchase a full size of this.

Benefit Instant Comeback Facial Serum. I’ve had this serum for a really long time and it has finally emptied! I really liked this because it felt like it instantly brightened my face and made my moisturizer glide on so much easier. I’ve since moved on to other serums but I might pick this up again soon.

Dr Brandt Skincare Xtend Your Youth Eye Cream. I got this little sample from Sephora and I used it about three times. As far as an eye cream goes it felt really light and creamy and was easy to spread under my eyes. According to the Sephora website, this is an antioxidant eye cream that protects, hydrates, and smooths the eye area. The ingredients claim to provide protection against free radicals and skin aggressors, all stuff I would love. The only thing it’s missing is some fine line reduction so I’ll have to pass on this.

Makeup

MarchEmpties2018_LBL5

GrandeLash MD Lash Enhancing Serum. I suggest you read my 8-week review of this product here and then follow up three-month review here. In a nutshell, I love this and already have repurchased a second tube.

Lancer Dani Glowing Skin Perfector. I have really been into illuminating primers so I picked this sample up from Sephora. Dani Glowing Skin Perfector is an innovative, illuminating skin finisher and treatment that revitalizes, brightens, and perfects all skin tones in one step. (Sephora.ca) This is really nice but the price is a bit out of my budget at $120.00 CAD/1oz. I did pick up a second sample which I will enjoy but I would not purchase a full size of this.

Yves Rocher Pure Light Foundation. I really enjoy this foundation because it’s very light in consistency but provides a medium coverage. It also is a good shade match for my skin. I think when it comes to Yves Rocher products this is one of my favourite items (second only to their body washes). I’m on a mission to use up the foundations I have so I won’t be repurchasing this.

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara in Brown. I really enjoy this mascara. The curved wand is perfect for lifting my eyelashes. Like foundation, I’m trying to use up all the mascaras I have because I have quite a few. Once I do have a chance to, I will repurchase this one.

Body Care

MarchEmpties2018_LBL4

Ombra Spa Aromatic Foam Bath with Eucalyptus. If you ever feel sick or congested, I highly recommend picking up this bubble bath because it fills your tub with nice bubbles and a punch of eucalyptus to help open up your airways. I got this one from Walmart and I’m probably going to pick up another one come next winter.

Being by Sanctuary Spa Salted Caramel & Macadamia Bubble Bath. This smelled so delicious I swear I could have eaten the bubbles! It makes my bathroom smell like a fudge shop! I picked up this bubble bath and a few body washes from BeautyBoutique to test out Being by Sanctuary products and I’m really loving this brand. The bubbles it creates are awesome too! I am repurchasing this.

Tom’s Long Lasting Deodorant in Refreshing Lemongrass. I hated this because the scent did not work with my body chemistry. I’m not repurchasing this.

The Body Shop Almond Hand and Nail Cream. This was great over the winter for my dry hands. I would repurchase this because I love the almond scent.

That’s all I emptied in March! I’m pretty happy I was able to use up some products that I’ve had for a while.

What have you used up for March?

Lots of Love,
Dal

Review: Using and Testing Makeup Removers

The other day I was going through my bathroom cabinets and noticed that I have a few different makeup removers open. I began to realize that I use each one to remove a specific type of makeup be it everyday, heavy eye makeup, mascara etc.

I rotate through different makeup remover brands but the items themselves are always the same. I always have a micellar water, makeup remover/ cleanser wipe and makeup removing balm. I always follow up removing my makeup with a cleanser but these items really help to break down most, if not all, of the makeup on my face.

Makeup-Removing Wipes

Garnier Makeup Removing Micellar Wipes
$7.97 CAD, 25 Wipes

MakeupRemovers_Review_LBL (5)

I use makeup removing wipes to remove my workday/everyday makeup because it tends to be a lot lighter. These wipes remove any light coverage foundation or bb creams, concealer, eye makeup pretty well. When I’m feeling really lazy, I can just use the wipe to clean my face and call it a day.

MakeupRemovers_Review_LBL (6)

I rotate through so many makeup wipes but so far I like this one from Garnier the best! The cloth is so soft and it’s not crazy saturated with the product but enough that I feel like one cloth is good for my whole face. It even rivals the Simple makeup removing wipes or the Neutrogena wipes that I’ve used before because this is much better at removing makeup in my opinion. I also like that I don’t get left with a greasy/filmy feeling after using this that I sometimes experience with other makeup wipes.

Micellar Waters

Yves Rocher Sebo Vegetal Purifying Micellar Water 2 in 1
$29.00 CAD (390 mL) – Yves Rocher always has a promotion but this is the usual retail price

MakeupRemovers_Review_LBL (7)

I like using micellar water similar to makeup removing/cleanser wipes. They are perfect for when I’m wearing a work day or everyday makeup look. What I like about micellar waters is that they are usually more gentle for use around my eyes so I like using them to remove eyeliner and mascara. I’ve noticed that the effectiveness of the micellar water improves when I use a good cotton pad. I find the Shiseido Facial Cotton really good with my micellar water because I don’t need to saturate them as much so a little product goes a long way. The cotton itself absorbs the product in such a way that it makes it easier to spread over my eyes. I’ve said this before but Shiseido really marries technology with beauty because you can tell that a lot of thought and innovation went into their products, or they are all wizards in those labs. Another more affordable option is the MUJI Cut Cotton, I actually prefer these peelable ones.

Although the Yves Rocher micellar water is designed for oily/combination skin, I still find it effective for my dry skin. It does a decent job of removing my makeup but unlike the ones from Bioderma or even the one I’ve tried from Vichy, it’s not the best at removing mascara. I have this in the large bottle so I will use it up but I don’t think I’d get this one again. I find with Yves Rocher a lot of their items are hit or miss for me so I either love and repurchase an item over and over or I get something and am super unimpressed by it, this one is of the latter.

Makeup-Removing Balms

Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm
$38.00 CAD (125 mL)

MakeupRemovers_Review_LBL (3)

If I’m wearing a lot of makeup, say for an evening out or event I like using balms to remove it because they break down my mascara, eyeshadow, foundation so well without me needing to tug on my skin. I don’t use them every day only because they can feel oily and I don’t like that feeling on my skin all the time.

MakeupRemovers_Review_LBL (4)

Clinique’s Take the Day Off is a balm that melts into an oil over the skin, removing with it even the toughest makeup. I love this guy because unlike a wipe or micellar water it works perfectly around the eyes. For me, mascara can be very tough to remove, especially because I prefer ones that are waterproof but balms just help the product slip off without damaging my lashes.

20180304_164309

Another brand I want to include here is The Body Shop’s Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter because it works just as good and is $17.00 CAD (90 mL). Whenever this guy is on sale I pick it up but the one from Clinique is more affordable if you compare the cost per mL. This does the same thing and is very gentle on the skin.

Urban Decay Makeup Meltdown
$32.00 CAD (100 mL)

MakeupRemovers_Review_LBL (8)

I remember there being so much hype when Urban Decays’ makeup remover line first launched but since then I hardly hear about them. I’ve included this in the makeup removing balm category because like the balms this is more of an oil makeup remover that works super well for heavy makeup removal. I LOVE THIS! You are supposed to spray this onto your hand or cotton pad before applying to the face but I’ve been lazy and sprayed it directly on my face.

MakeupRemovers_Review_LBL (9)

Two sprays have removed my most stubborn makeup and are the best for removing glitter on me. I might rotate through different wipes, micellar waters or even balms, but this product is probably the only one I would repurchase the same of. I’m not sure how many makeups removing sprays there are out there but this is hands down the best.

MakeupRemovers_Review_LBL (1)

These are the makeup removers I’ve been using and testing for the last while. What are some of your favourites or ones that you’ve been trying out? I’m always looking for something new.

Lots of Love,
Dal

Bye Bye Empties, September 2017

September has been a busy month for me. With my sister’s wedding at the end of September, most of my time was spent helping her get prepared. September has been a beautiful month and was super warm here in Toronto! It’s like summer finally came and we had some super fabulous days! It’s actually been relatively nice so far in October. Except for a few cooler or grey days, it’s been pretty nice. I’m looking forward to Halloween and Thanksgiving! I’m planning on watching scary movies and shows everyday this month!

I didn’t use up too many items for September mostly because I’ve been using and trying new items!

Skincare
DSC_0125

I didn’t finish up The Body Shop’s Camomile Gentle Eye Make-Up Remover but I think it’s old now and it was time to throw it out. I didn’t really think this was that good for removing eye makeup like I would have wanted it to. That’s probably why I hardly used it. I don’t think I would repurchase this.

I did a review of Caudalie’s Premier Cru The Eye Cream that you can read about here. Essentially, I didn’t see a difference in the appearance of fine lines so I don’t think I’ll repurchase this.

I am absolutely in love with Jurlique’s Rosewater Balancing Mist. I did include it as part of my Summer Morning Routine. This smells so good and the mist is very fine which is super impressive for a sample size product. Unfortunately, I don’t think Sephora carries it anymore, but looking on the Jurlique website they have a lot of other beautiful face mists that I’d be curious to try.

Haircare & Body Care

DSC_0120

I have been loving this body wash from a girl’s gotta spa! in Energizing Citrus. Talk about a nice smelling product! I love citrus and this one smells super fresh and natural. It helps wake me up in the morning and always put me in a good mood. There is so much that I love about this body wash and you can read all about it here. I would repurchase this.

Lastly, I have finished up a sample of healthy sexy hair Soy Tri-Wheat Leave In Conditioner. I think I got this in one of my subscription boxes. I really liked how it made my hair feel whenever I used it before styling. It left my hair feeling very soft and smooth after I blow-dried it. I don’t think I would repurchase this just yet because I do have other leave-in conditioners and hair products that I want to use up.

There you have it! My little pile of empty items for September.

What have you used up in September?

Lots of Love,
Dal

Bye Bye Empties, August 2017

Fairwell August! I took a little vacation during the month which really made the time go by quickly because I was constantly busy. I traveled to the Mediterranean and it was so nice to by the beach and enjoy super warm weather! I also went to the Canadian National Exhibition which I did enjoy this year as well. It’s starting to get chillier, with temperature dipping below seasonal but hopefully there are a few nice days before the official end of summer.

Hair Care

20170901_161934

Of all the shampoo brands, Head & Shoulders is my favourite. I wash my hair two or three times a week max because I have dry hair so I love that this keeps me feeling super clean between washes. I already have another shampoo open to replace this one.

I received a few shampoo and conditioner samples in the mail/magazines so I gave them a try this month. I have never used Garnier’s Whole Blends before but their Moroccan Argan & Camellia Oils shampoo and conditioner was very hydrating. I did notice my hair felt smooth and styling afterwards was a breeze. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Garnier’s Fructus Damage Eraser, but then again I’ve never been a fan of Fructus. It was fine for cleaning my hair but I don’t think I’ll purchase the full size.

I used up a sample of Novex Brazilian Keratin Protect and Repair Cream I received in my May 2016 Topbox. I got three uses out of this product. The last time I used it was after my vacation and it really helped restore my hair after being in the sun so long. I think I have more samples of products from Novex that I will be trying out next.

Face and Skin Care

20170901_161959

I have owned the YesTo Grapefruit daily facial scrub for quite some time and I’ve finally used it up. I love the smell of grapefruit to wake me up in the morning, however, the exfoliating bits were too harsh for my skin so I don’t think I would repurchase this.

Through Topbox, subscribers can sign up for a program called Glam Sense where they receive products to test out for free in exchange for a review. That’s how I got this tiny sample of Cetaphil’s Nourishing Moisture Body Wash. In my teens and early twenties I was a huge fan of Cetaphil face wash so I was excited to try this. I thought it was alright though and doesn’t wow me enough to want to purchase a full size bottle. If I ever saw it on sale though I might be inclined to buy it because I like that it’s unscented.

Makeup

20170901_162031

I’ve had this Younique Lucrative Lip Gloss since 2015! It’s pretty much empty but I had been holding on to it for who knows what. It was included in my 3 Summer Lip Essentials back in summer of 2015 and I really do love the formula, nonetheless, it’s time I finally let this go.

Another item that makes me sad is empty is my Benefit They’re Real Mascara. I LOVE this mascara as well as Benefit’s Roller Lash. It’s the perfect formula and wand design for my lashes. This sample came in my either my Topbox or in a Sephora order, I can’t be sure. Fingers crossed I get another sample sometime soon so I don’t have to purchase the full size, but if not I’ve still got my Roller Lash to hold me over.

That’s all I’ve used up for August! What was in your empties bin this month? Have you tried any of the products listed above?

Lots of Love,
Dal

Unboxing Topbox, July 2017

Price: $12.00 CAD (plus tax, free shipping) 4 items.

Topbox is a Canadian monthly beauty subscription service. Each month you have the option of getting a surprise box or to swap it for a prive box where all the products are from one brand and you know what they are. This month I opted for a surprise box!

Prices are in Canadian Dollars

Essie Nail Lacquer in b’aha moment!
Full Size Price: $9.00 (13.5 mL)
Topbox July 2017_LBL (7)
Ah! This colour is so fun! It’s a nice raspberry that is perfect for summer. I have quite a few nail lacquers from Essie because I like the formula. It’s a bit thinner so you need about 3 coats to make it opaque but I like that it dries pretty quickly in between.

LARITZY Cosmetics Undressed Liquid Lip Stain in shade Pebble
Full Size Price: $21.00 (1oz)
Topbox July 2017_LBL (2)
I did a swatch of this on the back of my hand and I find this dries down to a pretty matte. I love the dark nude shade, it’s very pretty although I think I might save it to use in the fall. PLUS I have a few other lipsticks in this colour so I’m not rushing to use this just yet.

Benefit Cosmetics Boi-ing Airbrush Concealer
Full Size Price: $27.00 (5 g), Sample Price: $8.64 (1.6 g)
Topbox July 2017_LBL (5)
Ya! A new Benefit product! This is meant to be a soft-focus, lightweight concealer. To apply you pat and blend this under the eyes or around the face. I used this about a day or two ago and it reminds me of Becca’s Under Eye Brightening Corrector in consistency and it’s as lightweight as that formula but it’s a concealer. I like a little more coverage under my eyes but I do think that it’ll work fine if I’m wearing a full coverage foundation.

GLAMGLOW SUPERMUD® CLEARING TREATMENT
Full Size Price: $79.00 (50 g), Sample Price: $23.70 (15 g)
Topbox July 2017_LBL (3)
I love receiving Glamglow samples because the full size of any of their products is so very expensive in my opinion. For this treatment, you apply a thin layer over the skin and after 5-20 mins wash it off. I would probably use this as a spot treatment every week or so and I think this will last me quite a long time.

BONUS! Garnier Skinactive Moisture Bomb
Topbox July 2017_LBL (4)
I absolutely love this little moisturizer. Garnier surprised me lately with their products and I’ve been enjoying them ever since. If you’re curious of my thoughts on Garnier BB Creams or skincare products you can read them here. This sample reminds me of the Bliss drench n’ quench because it’s very light and creamy. It feels almost gel-like.

Swatches!
Topbox July 2017_LBL (6)

My Thoughts

Topbox did not disappoint this month! I received items that I’m very excited to try. I’m really curious about how I like the Benefit concealer as I try it with different foundations and how well it holds up in the heat. I’m also in love with the colour of my Essie polish and can’t wait to clear my skin with some Glamglow masking tonight! Total Value of my box; $62.34 (not including bonus item)

Did you get Topbox this month? Anything excite you from the box?

Lots of Love,
Dal

Summer Night Time Routine, 2017

In my previous posts I have written about my morning routine and my summer makeup routine and I wanted to include my night time routine now to round it all up!Summer Night Time Routine LBL (2)On most days I wear makeup so I will use micellar water and/or makeup wipes to remove it. I have been using Bioderma’s Sensibio H2O to remove my eye makeup. I did a review of Bioderma which you can see here. I then use a makeup wipe to remove makeup from the rest of my face and down my neck. I’ve been using the Sephora’s Rose Cleansing Wipes. These wipes are OK. The wipe itself can feel stiff and a bit irritating if I use it around my eyes, but for everywhere it works pretty well and I can feel it hydrating slightly after I use it. Once a week I will switch out the Sephora wipe with my Anthony Glycolic Exfoliating & Resurfacing Wipes.
Summer Night Time Routine LBL (6)These wipes have a rough texture so it would irritate my skin if I used it too often but I do love the wipes whenever I want to deep cleanse and exfoliate my skin.

Next, I wash my face with my MUJI Foam Face Wash for sensitive skin. I read a lot of rave reviews about this company from Stashmatters (she gives the best and most thorough reviews!) so when I passed by the store I had to go in and check it out! I absolutely love this cleanser!
Summer Night Time Routine LBL (3)It’s gentle so I can use this around my eyes and doesn’t feel harsh on my skin but it really helps remove any remaining residue and leaves my skin feel squeaky clean.

Another cleanser that I have used on and off over the last 6 weeks is the Peter Thompson Roth anti-aging cleansing gel. I bought this gel from Sephora when I bought the Peter Thomas Roth Skin Saver set and this particular cleanser had a lot of good reviews. After using it for some time I think it’s only OK. It does not remove my makeup at all and unlike the MUJI wash, this one does irritate around my eyes. It’s fine for the days I don’t wear makeup or in the morning instead. I’m only including it here because I wanted to share my thoughts because since I have been testing it out. It claims to be anti-aging and brightens the skin with glycolic, citric and salicylic acid. I will use this product until it finishes but I don’t think I would repurchase it.
Summer Night Time Routine LBL (5)After cleansing I like to use the Peter Thomas Roth Retinol Fusion p.m. oil since purchasing this from Sephora 6 weeks ago (see the haul here). This has 1.5% retinol and vitamin C and E and is designed for all skin types. I’m very impressed with this. I’ve been using it for about four weeks and I’ve actually noticed a difference in my skin. For instance, I do have one wrinkle that is pretty deep above my eyebrow and after placing a drop over it for the last few weeks it has definitely been less visible! I apply one drop on my forehead, around my eyes, and my laugh lines then massage it in with my fingers. I also love the way this dropper is designed. It is curved which makes it easy to drop the product directly onto my skin.
Summer Night Time Routine LBL (4)The last step in my routine is to apply a night cream and I’ve been using the Estee Lauder Nutritious Night Vita-Mineral Intense Nourishing Creme/Mask. This is also designed for all skin types and it’s a very thick cream. I love Estee Lauder skin care and this feels really nice on the skin. I notice in the morning I’m a lot more hydrated since I’ve started using this.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve been using this series of products consistently and I feel like my skin is looking and feeling better.

There you have! This is everything I do at night. If you wanted to see my morning routine click here or if you want to see my summer makeup routine click here.

Let me know what is part of your night time routine. What steps do you take?

Easy Summer Makeup Routine

I keep my makeup pretty simple because I just can’t seem to wake up early enough to complete a full-face look before I head out the door! I thought I’d share my makeup application for the summer because it only takes me about 15 minutes to put together so it’s great if you are in a rush.

First things first is my morning face routine, if you missed that post you can read it here.

Summer Makeup Routine 2017 (7)To start, I’ve been forgoing foundation and sticking to tinted moisturizers or BB creams. My current fave is Garnier’s Ombrelle tinted SPF which I’ve mentioned in my morning routine. After BB cream I’ll use concealer to add coverage to the areas under my eyes and around my nose. I have been using my Nars Radiant Concealer because it gives good coverage without being heavy and blends easily into my skin. I do about 3 dots under my eyes, a little line down the bridge of my nose to highlight, and then on the sides of my nose to cover redness I get around there.

Summer Makeup Routine 2017 (5)I’ll do a quick eye look using only two shadows from one of my Smashbox Covershot palettes (see my review of the palette by clicking here)

Summer Makeup Routine 2017 (6)I have been loving Ablaze for summer. I put Throwback in the crease and Moccasin over the lid and blend it together.

I don’t always wear liner because it takes the most of my time, but when I have an extra five minutes I will do a winged liner using Kat Von D’s Mad Max Brown Liner. I never skip mascara and right now Sephora’s Full action Mascara in brown is great at separating my lashes and making them appear thicker.Summer Makeup Routine 2017 (9) I have pretty full brows but for extra impact I’ll add Benefit’s Goof Proof Brow Pencil. It really is goof proof for me because it’s a thicker angled pencil that I can quickly swipe in-between the hairs in my brow to give it a soft definition.

Summer Makeup Routine 2017 (14)After, I take a fluffy brush and put Physician’s Formula #InstaReady Bronzer all over the perimeter of my face. I love that this bronzer is light and buildable. It’s surprisingly smooth and never looks patchy.  This is more cool toned which works great for my skin tone and leaves me with a more natural look.

Summer Makeup Routine 2017 (13)I like keeping my look bronze so I’ve been wearing Sephora’s blush in Apricot sheen. I recently bought this because it was on sale and I’m so happy I did! It is a nice peachy-bronze with gold reflex that isn’t in your face but adds a bit of sheen and highlights my cheeks. This is also a light blush so I can build it up or keep sheer.

Summer Makeup Routine 2017 (10)Last is lip balm. I have two that I love equally and keep in my bag. One is Bite Beauty’s amazing Agave Balm. It smells great and feels super comfortable on the lips. It has no colour but gives shine to my natural lip. The other is Fresh Sugar Balm sample in Rose which has a light red tint. I like this as a pick-me-up if I’m going out after work. It also has SPF 15 adding a bit more protection for my lips.

Although I’ve listed out quite a few products they don’t require too much work to apply so I never take long to put them on.

What’s a summer look you love wearing?

Lots of Love,
Dal
