Estee Lauder Fall 2017 Preview Event

Summer is not over but it’s always fun to take a glimpse of what’s to come in beauty for Fall. I tend to be bolder with my makeup in Fall while starting my cold weather hydration routine and looking at Estee Lauder’s Fall Preview I see a lot of items that will do just that!
Estee Lauder Fall Preview_LBL (13)The event was held at the Thompson Hotel in Downtown Toronto. They had transformed one of penthouse suites into a beautiful backdrop for all the gorgeous items. As I entered the living room bottles of the Aerin Fragrances welcomed me in. Aerin will have two new fragrances for the fall, Tuberose Le Jour and Tuberose Le Soir a day and night scent. I love that they compliment each other so that you can wear them layered to go from day to night. Guests were treated to a delectable array of treats in the kitchen. I had a few bites before I headed to the dining area to check out the skincare items!
Estee Lauder Fall Preview_LBL (14)I love Estee Lauder skincare and at the event I got acquainted with their Re-Nutriv line. I fell in love with the Ultimate Lift Regenerating Youth which is infused with exclusive Floralixir™ Dew derived from the Himalayan Gentian and Brazilian Everlasting. These flowers thrive in extreme climates and mixed with Estee Lauder’s skincare technology help to increase natural collagen production. The cream is meant to give you a smoother, firmer, more lifted look. This felt very light and I could feel immediate hydration and firmness when I placed it on my skin. The Revitalizing Supreme + also caught my eye. This is designed to hydrate after cleansing (especially at night). Although I don’t have wrinkles now, I’m always on the hunt for skincare products that help prevent them. Both of these are items I would work into my skincare routine.
Estee Lauder Fall Preview_LBL (15)Next to all the amazing skincare were a few new lipsticks and mascaras that I was really excited about! First of all, the Pure Color Envy lipstick shades are gorgeous! I have a few lipsticks from this line that are quite awesome. They are hydrating and apply smooth on the lip. They are also long wearing on me. I usually see darker shades for Fall but after looking at the colours here I feel like it’ll be all about a bright wash of colour which is exciting. High Level has to be my favourite shade for Fall (it’s the coral shade at the very left in my photo above). The Pure Color Envy Lash are really fun mascaras! I did a swatch of the green shade and it’s as bright as the tube! I would probably want to try out the dark blue for Fall.
Estee Lauder Fall Preview_LBL (1)Everyone was flocking to the yummy wall of donut foundation! LOL! I have to give it to Estee Lauder, this was pretty adorable! There was tons of snacks and candy everywhere but this wall was just irresistible! The shades on the wall represented the many shades in the new Double Wear Nude Water Fresh Makeup. This foundation has SPF 30, and is very light and liquid.
Estee Lauder Fall Preview_LBL (9)To apply, you open the cap and place your finger over the bottle to cover it while you shake it. The amount of product that is left on your finger will be enough to cover half your face! You can even apply it with your fingers because the formula blends in very easily using the warmth of your hands. This is great for all skin types since it prevents excess oil from developing on the skin while keeping it hydrated.Estee Lauder Fall Preview_LBL (8)The item that got me so excited is the Advanced Night Repair Eye Cencentrate Matrix. This item is a dream for me because I wear concealer and eye shadow on a pretty regular basis.
Estee Lauder Fall Preview_LBL (6)Not only is this designed to target the signs of eye aging, it provides a cushion for concealer and can be used as an eye primer! I love double duty items!

I’ve learned so much at the Estee Lauder Fall Preview and I’m excited for these items.

What are you most excited for in makeup come the Fall? Also, do you like rocking a colourful mascara? If so, how to you wear it?

Lots of Love,
Dal

Thank you to the Estee Lauder team for a beautiful event!

Summer Night Time Routine, 2017

In my previous posts I have written about my morning routine and my summer makeup routine and I wanted to include my night time routine now to round it all up!Summer Night Time Routine LBL (2)On most days I wear makeup so I will use micellar water and/or makeup wipes to remove it. I have been using Bioderma’s Sensibio H2O to remove my eye makeup. I did a review of Bioderma which you can see here. I then use a makeup wipe to remove makeup from the rest of my face and down my neck. I’ve been using the Sephora’s Rose Cleansing Wipes. These wipes are OK. The wipe itself can feel stiff and a bit irritating if I use it around my eyes, but for everywhere it works pretty well and I can feel it hydrating slightly after I use it. Once a week I will switch out the Sephora wipe with my Anthony Glycolic Exfoliating & Resurfacing Wipes.
Summer Night Time Routine LBL (6)These wipes have a rough texture so it would irritate my skin if I used it too often but I do love the wipes whenever I want to deep cleanse and exfoliate my skin.

Next, I wash my face with my MUJI Foam Face Wash for sensitive skin. I read a lot of rave reviews about this company from Stashmatters (she gives the best and most thorough reviews!) so when I passed by the store I had to go in and check it out! I absolutely love this cleanser!
Summer Night Time Routine LBL (3)It’s gentle so I can use this around my eyes and doesn’t feel harsh on my skin but it really helps remove any remaining residue and leaves my skin feel squeaky clean.

Another cleanser that I have used on and off over the last 6 weeks is the Peter Thompson Roth anti-aging cleansing gel. I bought this gel from Sephora when I bought the Peter Thomas Roth Skin Saver set and this particular cleanser had a lot of good reviews. After using it for some time I think it’s only OK. It does not remove my makeup at all and unlike the MUJI wash, this one does irritate around my eyes. It’s fine for the days I don’t wear makeup or in the morning instead. I’m only including it here because I wanted to share my thoughts because since I have been testing it out. It claims to be anti-aging and brightens the skin with glycolic, citric and salicylic acid. I will use this product until it finishes but I don’t think I would repurchase it.
Summer Night Time Routine LBL (5)After cleansing I like to use the Peter Thomas Roth Retinol Fusion p.m. oil since purchasing this from Sephora 6 weeks ago (see the haul here). This has 1.5% retinol and vitamin C and E and is designed for all skin types. I’m very impressed with this. I’ve been using it for about four weeks and I’ve actually noticed a difference in my skin. For instance, I do have one wrinkle that is pretty deep above my eyebrow and after placing a drop over it for the last few weeks it has definitely been less visible! I apply one drop on my forehead, around my eyes, and my laugh lines then massage it in with my fingers. I also love the way this dropper is designed. It is curved which makes it easy to drop the product directly onto my skin.
Summer Night Time Routine LBL (4)The last step in my routine is to apply a night cream and I’ve been using the Estee Lauder Nutritious Night Vita-Mineral Intense Nourishing Creme/Mask. This is also designed for all skin types and it’s a very thick cream. I love Estee Lauder skin care and this feels really nice on the skin. I notice in the morning I’m a lot more hydrated since I’ve started using this.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve been using this series of products consistently and I feel like my skin is looking and feeling better.

There you have! This is everything I do at night. If you wanted to see my morning routine click here or if you want to see my summer makeup routine click here.

Let me know what is part of your night time routine. What steps do you take?

Lots of love,
Dal

Easy Summer Makeup Routine

I keep my makeup pretty simple because I just can’t seem to wake up early enough to complete a full-face look before I head out the door! I thought I’d share my makeup application for the summer because it only takes me about 15 minutes to put together so it’s great if you are in a rush.

First things first is my morning face routine, if you missed that post you can read it here.

Summer Makeup Routine 2017 (7)To start, I’ve been forgoing foundation and sticking to tinted moisturizers or BB creams. My current fave is Garnier’s Ombrelle tinted SPF which I’ve mentioned in my morning routine. After BB cream I’ll use concealer to add coverage to the areas under my eyes and around my nose. I have been using my Nars Radiant Concealer because it gives good coverage without being heavy and blends easily into my skin. I do about 3 dots under my eyes, a little line down the bridge of my nose to highlight, and then on the sides of my nose to cover redness I get around there.

Summer Makeup Routine 2017 (5)I’ll do a quick eye look using only two shadows from one of my Smashbox Covershot palettes (see my review of the palette by clicking here)

Summer Makeup Routine 2017 (6)I have been loving Ablaze for summer. I put Throwback in the crease and Moccasin over the lid and blend it together.

I don’t always wear liner because it takes the most of my time, but when I have an extra five minutes I will do a winged liner using Kat Von D’s Mad Max Brown Liner. I never skip mascara and right now Sephora’s Full action Mascara in brown is great at separating my lashes and making them appear thicker.Summer Makeup Routine 2017 (9) I have pretty full brows but for extra impact I’ll add Benefit’s Goof Proof Brow Pencil. It really is goof proof for me because it’s a thicker angled pencil that I can quickly swipe in-between the hairs in my brow to give it a soft definition.

Summer Makeup Routine 2017 (14)After, I take a fluffy brush and put Physician’s Formula #InstaReady Bronzer all over the perimeter of my face. I love that this bronzer is light and buildable. It’s surprisingly smooth and never looks patchy.  This is more cool toned which works great for my skin tone and leaves me with a more natural look.

Summer Makeup Routine 2017 (13)I like keeping my look bronze so I’ve been wearing Sephora’s blush in Apricot sheen. I recently bought this because it was on sale and I’m so happy I did! It is a nice peachy-bronze with gold reflex that isn’t in your face but adds a bit of sheen and highlights my cheeks. This is also a light blush so I can build it up or keep sheer.

Summer Makeup Routine 2017 (10)Last is lip balm. I have two that I love equally and keep in my bag. One is Bite Beauty’s amazing Agave Balm. It smells great and feels super comfortable on the lips. It has no colour but gives shine to my natural lip. The other is Fresh Sugar Balm sample in Rose which has a light red tint. I like this as a pick-me-up if I’m going out after work. It also has SPF 15 adding a bit more protection for my lips.

Although I’ve listed out quite a few products they don’t require too much work to apply so I never take long to put them on.

What’s a summer look you love wearing?

Lots of Love,
Dal

Bite Beauty Matte Lip Crayon VoxBox

I’m not usually a lipstick person, but there is something about this season that has got me rocking the bold lip like never before! I’ve been wearing so many berries and reds every day, even if I’m not wearing any other makeup.

Timing was perfect with my new found love for lipstick, that I would get these beautiful matte creme lip crayons courtesy of Influenster*.bite-beauty_voxbox_lbl3Bite Beauty is a Canadian Brand that creates lip products that are handmade (they’ve also developed multi-sticks that can be worn on the face). The colours are vibrant and everything is made with edible ingredients. bite-beauty_voxbox_lbl4I’ve worn Bite Beauty Lipsticks before and loved them. They are creamy, hydrating and  highly pigmented. They aren’t the longest lasting lipsticks but they feel really nice while they are on.

These Crayons are no different in that they feel really nice on. I love the matte look, and how fantastically pigmented they are. Even the light colour, Cava, looked really bold with only one sweep across the lips. I received three colours from VoxBox to try. bite-beauty_voxbox_lbl5My stand out fave of the trio is Glace which is a nice dusty mauve colour. It’s a perfect balance of bold and natural for me so I’ve enjoyed wearing this to work.

Cava which is a lilac beige, is a really interesting colour on my lips. It appears more beige but I’m sure with the right makeup could be super edgy.

Red Velvet, a nice rich, deep red is so perfect for the upcoming holidays and for winter in general. I really love this colour for a super bold look with a nice black winged liner. Out of the lip crayons I have, I feel like this one requires a lip liner. Likely because the colour is super bold.bite-beauty_voxbox_lbl1I really love that these are pen-like in design because it makes applying the colour onto my lips really easy. I’ve enjoyed wearing these for the last month because the colours are so fun! If you like lip products, you would enjoy these!

Lots of Love,
Dal

*I’ve received these products free through Influenster Canada for reviewing purposes. All opinions are honest and my own.

The Fall Tag

I was tagged to do the fall tag by the lovely Robyn from lipstickonlake.com and I just had to do this! Robyn’s blog is full of a lot beauty, hauls, makeup looks and reviews! Definitely give her a follow if you’re not doing so already.

I looveeee fall so doing this tag was fun for me!

What is your favourite Fall colour?

I have two answers for this. When it comes to makeup the colours I gravitate to are burgundies and golds. For my clothing however, I love wearing greys. I love long and comfy grey sweaters and cardigans in the fall and I usually pair them with my favourite pair of burgundy boats.

What is your favourite Fall lip product?

Again, I have two! One is Colourpop’s Ultra Satin Lip in Frick N’ Frack. This is a gorgeous reddish brown. I also have been in love with Teeez Cosmetics’ Material Lipstick in Hyped Taupe with is a beautiful brown/orange/red with copper flecks. Both are my faves at the moment. share_temporary

What is your favourite Fall accessory?

Like Robyn, I love scarves. I have so many! The weather varies from day to day in the fall and I feel like scarves are such a staple because I can wrap it around me for those colder days but it easily travels in my bag if the weather is a bit warmer. Plus I feel like it’s such a fall staple.

What is your favourite Fall nail polish?

I don’t wear nail polish but if I did, I’d be rocking Berlin There Done That by OPI.

What is your favourite Fall scent?

For perfume, I love Prada Candy

For food, I love the smell of chocolate because it reminds me of hot chocolate and being cozy in a warm blanket.

What is your favourite Fall fashion?

Big warm scarves!

What is your favourite Fall Starbucks drink?

London Fog! (Plus I’m really happy that Starbucks finally calls it a London Fog – Earl Grey Latte was such a tongue twister for me)

What is your favourite thing about Fall?

I like that the weather gets slightly cooler, but not so cold. I actually love the temperature of fall and being able to layer my clothes.

What are you being for Halloween?

OOOOOHHHHH!!! Pugsley Addams!! My sister is dressing up as Wednesday Addams so we thought it would be a fun to do a “couple” costume together. Especially with our boys out of town. wednesday-pugsley

What is your favourite fall hairstyle?

Well, I cut it shoulder length recently and I always wear it straight lately. It’s my transition hairstyle because I wanna go dark for the winter.

I tag the following;

MystyleInsideOut

Tigritsa

& Mrs Strawberry Blonde

Teeez Cosmetics North American Launch Dinner with David Lackie

Last Wednesday I was a lucky guest of Dave Lackie and Teeez Cosmetics to celebrate their North American Launch!

We started off at the innovative Teeez counter at the Hudson’s Bay store in Downtown Toronto. Their counter allows you to interact with this brand and their makeup in a whole new way. For instance, if you like lipstick but don’t want to remove the one you currently have on, you can simply scan your face at one of their mirror screens and then it will superimpose that lip colour onto you lips so you can see how it will look on. There are other awesome touch screens and fun things to do when there.

Learning about the interactive counter with Paul Van Der Wal, Global Makeup Artist for Teeez Costmetics.

We then moved to the dining area that was incredibly decorated with large flower bouquets and an elegant long table for us all to sit at. Makeup was everywhere! It’s really easy to spot Teeez Cosmetics because their packaging is so funky and colourful.

1475402116519
The great table set up and everyone mingling while playing with Teeez makeup.

We played with all the different lipsticks, eyeliners, blushes and eyeshadows. They were also giving makeup touch-ups. The Teeez team was extremely sweet and really spent time chatting it up with all of the attendees and introduce us to Teeez.

All the beautiful makeup we got to play with

While enjoying our amazing dinner, Dave Lackie and Paul Van Der Wal talked about Teeez and Paul’s amazing journey in fashion and makeup and  becoming the Global Makeup Artist for Teeez.

Learning about Teeez makeup from Paul Van De Wal and Dave Lackie

Each guest left with an awesome tube of makeup and a fun bracelet with skulls on them, designed by Daniel J.

Now on to the Makeup!

Let’s just start off with the packaging. Teeez, which is based out of the Netherlands, is all about being cutting edge and their packaging screams fashion. Looking at it now I see fun colours, flowers, skulls and stilettos in the print.1475458466340They take their inspiration from the runway and put those looks together into a new collection. As Paul Van Der Wal explained, you no longer need to wait 6-12 months for a runway look to make it to the mainstream, Teeez is all about making it happen now.

The lipsticks are nicely pigmented needing only one swipe to give full coverage. The one I have, Hyped Mauve, smells like chocolate! This brown colour is soo 90s, perfect for this year’s fall trend. The eyeshadow quad has buildable pigmentation so that you can intensify the look to your liking. I love the purple shades which were inspired by Indian fabrics. I am excited to use the grey liner with the shadows and can never go wrong with a black mascara. I do think the colours are super fun and the pigmentation is pretty good. My personal favourite items are their single shadows because they had such amazing pigmentation and were extremely creamy! I’m going to the counter to pick one up the next time I go to the mall.

Thank you, Dave Lackie, for an amazing evening discovering this brand!

Have you tried Teeez Cosmetics? What is your favourite item from them?

Lots of love,

Dal

Skincare Fave: Nova Scotia Fisherman

I fell in love with this brand about a year ago when I was introduced to the rescue balm  in my Topbox. It helps relieve irritated skin so I use it on my dry skin patches, cuticles and lips (see it here). Ever since then, anything I’ve tried has been a hit in my books. I raved about Nova Scotia Fisherman on MyLipAddication.com’s podcast when discussing my top 3 favourite brands with Cat.

What makes these products so great? I think it is because it’s a 100% Natural Body care line infused with Nova Scotia Kelp (yes! KELP!) which has beta-carotine and antioxidants.

Our bodies convert beta-carotene into Vitamin A which is great for the skin. Antioxidants limit the production of free radicals which can damage the skin.

What awesome things does kelp do? Well….

  • it restores mositure levels
  • it stimulates the skin’s ability to heal
  • it revitalizes and firms skin
  • and much more!

Nova Scotia Fisherman 3Recently I’ve been in love with the Sea Salt Soap*. It smells absolutely delicious. I have a sample and full size of the soap bar and I love how the shower smells whenever I use it. These soaps remind me of my grandfather because he actually used to make soaps himself. The process wasn’t simple but we would end up with these beautiful handmade soaps that were great for the skin and made with love. That’s who the Nova Scotia Fisherman team reminds me of, my family, and rightfully so because this is a family and friend owned business.

Nova Scotia Fisherman 2I have dry skin and I like when a product really works for me. That’s how I feel about the lip balms. I especially love the Fisher-Mint* (ha! such a cute name!), not only does it nourish my lips, but the added smell of mint makes mouth smell a bit fresher too. The sea  salt and caramel xtreme lip care balm just smells like a yummy butterscotch. I reviewed this before in my favourite from the boxes and I’m still loving it, the lip balm minnow is always in my purse.

Another reason Nova Scotia Fisherman is a favourite of mine is because they are environmentally conscious donating a portion of the sale of each item to the Nature Conservancy of Canada to protect our plants and wildlife.

I love how nourished my skin feels once I use these products, it must be the ingredients and how well they work for me. Currently I’ve only been able to find products on their website, but I do look forward to trying more from them. I’ve been eyeing the hand and body cream and probably going to try those next.

Have you ever tried anything from this brand? What are your skincare faves?

Lots of Love,

Dal

*I was graciously gifted these products from Nova Scotia Fisherman. My thoughts and reviews of this brand are my own and 100% honest.

#LauderLovesCanada Event hosted by Dave Lackie

Last Wednesday, I attended the #LauderLovesCanada Breakfast Event thrown by the amazing Dave Lackie.

Guests were greeted by the Estee Lauder team who outlined the details of the day. There was lots to enjoy! Makeup was everywhere and you could get a make-over by the professional Lauder team. There was also a delictable candy station, a handsome mountie to take photos with, and an absolutely stunning dining area that over looked the CN Tower.

img_0490-1
Everyone was flocking to the delicious candy station, I personally loved the touch of adding Canadian themed sugar cookies. There was also fruit juice blends handed out. The dining room was so perfectly decorated.

The dining hall was filled with photos of Estee’s trip to Canada in 1970 for her launch of a Canadian beauty line. The event was a tribute to that first visit and it was all about how Estée Loves Canada – everything was in red in white. The timing was perfect since it was only a few days before Canada Day!

img_0489
The largest bottle of Night Repair I’ve ever seen! There was also tons of makeup everywhere.

The breakfast was delicious, we started off with a yogurt and strawberry puree, with delictable granola. You had an option for the second course and I decided on the the delicious brioche French toast.

During breakfast we enjoyed a talk with Philippe Warnery, General Manager, Canada affiliate of Estee Lauder Companies. He described the first time Estee Lauder came to Canada and how she created a beauty line that was Canadian focused.  How special is that! I love that Estée Lauder viewed us Canadians uniquely and created a whole make-up line designed specifically with them us mind. We were the first international venture for Estée Lauder as a brand! We saw the look of the 1970s that Estée created and new a modern twist for the Canadian today.

I had to get a shot with the CN Tower behind me. The Models are showcasing the looks; on the left is the Modern Classic look and on the right is the 1970’s look. Below Philippe describes the photo of Estee’s visit to Canada to launch her Canadian beauty line and of course David Lackie on the far right welcoming everyone to the event

Each guest left with an incredible gift bag full of Estee Lauder products to re-create the looks at home.

I’ve already started playing with the products! Of course, Advanced Night Repair is one of my faves, so I’m excited to use the Eye repair too. I also love the eye liner pencil. It’s very soft and dries quickly that makes it unmovable. If you want to soften up the look you can smudge it out with the rubber tip on the other side.

A few tricks I learned from the makeup experts;

1.Use brown liner on the lower lash line to soften up a dramatic eye-look, they said it looks amazing especially if you wear black liner on the top lid.

2.Take your favourite serum, they used advanced night repair, rub it in between your hands to warm up and then dab on top of your skin. If you do this on top of your makeup, it acts as finishing primer to lock your make-up in place and give you a dewy, even finish.

This was such an amazing day! Thanks again to Dave Lackie and Estée Lauder for putting together this spectacular event!

Lots of Luv,

Dal

Giveaway Win! The One with NYX hosted by Tigrista

A few weeks ago I won this adorable eyeshadow palette from a giveaway hosted by Tigrista. Her blog is full of a lot of great posts about product reviews and unboxing subscription boxes, I love reading her posts!

I’m so excited that I won so thank you very much!!!

NYX’s Rocker Chic Palette is really cute and I thought I’d do a little review here if anyone was interested in picking it up: Fotor_146688177729096_resizedI have the 5 shadow palette in the colours California Dreaming. It has 3 shimmer shadows and 2 mattes. It has an interesting blend of colours that I wouldn’t normally go for but they are surprisingly really easy to wear, even the electric blue colour. Fotor_146688235926950I like that the colours I would use most in this palette are on the larger side. I like wearing the shimmery pink (which actually on the pale pink side) all over the lid and I like using the matte black to darken the crease just a touch. That’s the look that I created below. It’s a great everyday look for me. Sometimes I even like wearing the blue on my lower lash line for a pop of colour. Fotor_146688256234916

These shadows are really creamy and easy to blend. They are also surprising pigmented and doesn’t crease in my lid. The shadow is long lasting but after about 8 hours I find that it dissipates. I would suggest to wear eye shadow primer to increase the colour longevity.

I’m really impressed with these shadows, I’d be interested in trying other NYX palettes and shadows.

Have you tried any shadows or palettes from NYX? What are your thoughts?

Thanks again, Tigrista! I love this palette

Lots of Luv,

Dal
