Saving my Damaged Hair with Shu Uemura & Giveaway!

It has been a long time coming but I finally cut my hair short! I’ve had long hair for so many years and as someone who is super low maintenance, I never went to a hairdresser in that time so my hair just got longer and more damaged.

I wanted to get my hair cut by someone who was good and @hairbysafiyaa (that’s her Instagram handle, you should see her work) was highly recommended to me. She does my sister’s hair as well as other people I know so I made the 1.5-hour drive to St. Catherines to get it done!

My hair was just above my lower back and a medium brown colour that I had boxed dyed multiple times. I decided to cut it to just below my shoulders and got a few sun-kissed highlights in it, I love it so much!

I wanted to ensure I kept my hair feeling and looking hydrated and smooth after my haircut and timing was perfect when I was offered the opportunity to try Shu Uemura Art of Hair! I was sent the Silk Bloom Restorative Shampoo, Conditioner and Treatment as well as other items.

Shu Uemura is a famous Japanese make-up artist who has been breaking the boundaries of beauty for over 50 years! His company was built on the basis of his philosophy that “beautiful make-up starts with beautiful skin.” They use naturally gentle ingredients, use the most advanced science in beauty, and encourage artistry and visual expression. This is also expressed in their Art of Haircare line.

In a Favourites From the Boxes post in November 2017, I said that the Shu Uemura Essence Absolute oil was the best item I had received from Topbox and I still believe that. Whether I air dry or heat style my hair it just leaves it shiny and hydrated, it’s also a good heat protectant. So, I’ve had a positive experience with these hair items and wanted to try more!Shu Uemura (7)Let’s start with shampoo. If you probably guessed, I love using anything that hydrates but deep cleans my scalp. I wash my hair only twice a week so I love when a shampoo rinses clean and doesn’t leave a residue. Before I got my hair cut, I started using the Shu Uemura Art of Hair products to help bring some life back to my hair so my cut would look extra good.Shu Uemura (4)The Silk Bloom Restorative Shampoo purifies the hair but also has enriched argan oil to restore the hair fibres while adding body. The formula is creamy and it has a slight lather. I really felt like this cleaned my hair and it felt very moisturized after I rinsed it out. I also really enjoy the smell of the shampoo. It doesn’t have a sweet smell like you would expect with argan oils, it’s more natural.Shu Uemura (3)The next step was to apply some of the Silk Bloom Restorative Conditioner. The conditioner also has argan oil to restore damaged hair. I could feel the moisturizing properties on my hands right away, it felt like I just put on hand cream. This is super moisturizing.Shu Uemura (5)Every other wash, I would apply the Silk Bloom Restorative Treatment after rinsing my hair of conditioner. If you have dry, damaged hair like I do, this product is amazing! It leaves my hair so soft and I swear it makes even my boxed hair colour look good.Shu Uemura (9)The formula is super thick and I like to massage a little handful into my hair and leave it on for 5-10 minutes while I shower. I’ve even used the residue from my hands and rubbed it on my legs and this acts as an in shower moisturizer! This product is amazing because it deeply nourishes my hair. I feel like it has reduced frizz in my hair. I’m hooked on this!

After I cut my hair, I wore it natural to work and so many people were complimenting me on it! My hair feels soft to the touch and really strong. I have been consistently using these products and I feel like it’s made a difference in how my hair looks and feels.Shu Uemura (6)Another item that I’ve been loving is the Straight Forward Time Saving Blow Dry Oil Spray! Oh my goodness, how I enjoy this whenever I want to blow dry my hair. This spray evenly coats my hair and makes styling it a breeze. I apply this in sections to my towel dry hair and then blow dry it. The oil protects against the heat of my styling tools. Since my hair is shorter it takes less time to style regardless but I think the oil helps leaves it shiny and I do think it helps shave some extra time. It smells like chamomile which I really enjoy.

I’ve really been enjoying my hair lately. One, being that it’s shorter and two, I feel like the products I’m using now are going to help protect it and keep it from damage. Overall, I think these have been really good for my hair!

Review: Aveeno’s Positively Radiant Body Collection

I can feel warmer weather on the horizon in Toronto! With that comes shorts and skirts and showing off my legs! I’ve been extremely diligent with my body care routine to keep my legs and body hydrated and even-toned so using products that help me achieve that is important. I’m really excited to share this review of Aveeno’s Positively Radiant Body Collection* on the blog today!

I’ve been a long time user of Aveeno and it all started with their oat body wash. When I first started shaving my legs, they would feel extremely dry and itchy and the only thing that I felt was gentle and moisturizing enough for them was that body wash. I later remember grabbing a body lotion from Aveeno and feeling like it improved the moisture on my skin.Aveeno Positively Radiant (6)

Recently, Aveeno launched their new Positively Radiant Body Lotion, Exfoliating Body Wash and Dark Spot Corrector and I was able to test them out.

This collection has their ACTIVE NATURALS Total Soy Complex to correct tone. According to Aveeno, the body lotion and body work together to visibly transform the look of all 5 factors of radiance (tone, texture, dullness, blotchiness and brown spots). Using this collection reveals healthy, more visibly radiant skin and fades the look of dark spots and uneven skin tone. (Aveeno)

I used the Exfoliating Body Wash and Body Lotion every day for the last week and a half.

Aveeno Positively Radiant (2)

The Exfoliating Body Wash is pretty gentle although it has exfoliants. It helps to buff my skin without it feeling like scratching. This is soap-free, dye-free, hypoallergenic so I didn’t feel like it stripped my skin of its natural oils and I felt pretty moisturized after my shower. I know it’s good for me because even after I shower, I felt hydrated before even using the body lotion.

Aveeno Positively Radiant (4)

The Body Lotion is my favourite item in the collection. It’s creamy and thick but absorbed into my skin quickly. I knew the lotion was going to be good because I’ve tried Aveeno lotions before and loved them. It doesn’t have a greasy feeling which I absolutely love and it helped calm my skin those days I did shave my legs. The formula has natural light reflecting minerals to give off a radiant look.

Aveeno Positively Radiant (5)

It feels like my skin is slightly more radiant and is more even-toned. This will come in handy as the weather gets warmer and I start wearing more clothing that shows off my legs!

Aveeno Positively Radiant (3)

The Dark Spot Corrector will also come in handy closer to the summer months to help even out my skin tone on my legs. This corrector evens out the look of dark spots, discolouration and uneven skin tone. I have some discolouration on my legs (especially since I shave them in the summer) so I look forward to them looking even and radiant!

You can learn more about these products by heading to www.aveeno.ca

So who’s ready for warm weather in the city!? What products will you use to help prep your skin?

Dal

Brush Bar: An Innovative Way to Dry Your Brushes!

I’m super excited to share this review of a cool new way I’ve been cleaning and drying my brushes. A few weeks ago, I was offered the ability to test out the Brush Bar and Brush Board*. As someone who enjoys cleaning their makeup brushes, I jumped at the opportunity!

So what is the Brush Bar?

BoardReview_LBL9

A brush drying tool with 10 prongs to secure your brushes upside-down while they dry to prevent water from entering the barrel and dissolving the glue.

And what is the Brush Board?

A two-sided brush exfoliator made of firm material to maximize your brush cleaning. There are 6 different textures to scrub around the bristles. In the photos below, I’ve included the little description card that explains what each compartment does.

BoardReview_LBL5

BoardReview_LBL6

I was also sent the Brush Bubbly which is a gentle makeup cleanser to use with the Brush Board.

BoardReview_LBL10

I love the way the Brush Bar and Board were packaged inside of velour carrying cases. It makes it great for storage and is a really nice touch.

What did I think?

The Brush Board is firm so I was able to hold it while I cleaned my brushes. My cleaning technique was to put a little dollop of the Brush Bubbly on the board with a little bit of water and then lathered up each brush. I like the gentleness of this makeup cleanser. Alternately, you can use baby shampoo.

BoardReview_LBL12

Since the edges of the board are high, the soapy water is contained in each section which made it perfect for lathering up each brush without having to keep my facet running.

I really like that this board is a firm material. I have other brush exfoliators that are silicone but this one feels really sturdy and I can feel the cones and waves working deeply into each brush.

After I lathered all my brushes with soap, I went back and used the various textures on both sides to deep clean and then rinse each of them. In the end, I used the cone side to brush out the bristles from any remaining water. The cone texture is recommended at the end because it helps the brushes dry quickly.

BoardReview_LBL15

Following that, I put each brush upside down in the prongs for drying on the Brush Bar. The design of these prongs allows for you to hold 2 small, 6 medium and 2 large size brushes.

When the Brush Bar is not in use, you can fold the prongs onto the inside of the board which helps prevent them from getting damaged while storing. Both the Brush Bar and the Brush Board have a sleek design that doesn’t take too much space in my cabinets. I would probably get another board for myself so that I can dry more brushes at one time.

BoardReview_LBL7

The Bar itself has a nice weight so that it will hold the brushes securely while they dry. As long as the brushes are hanging off a flat, straight surface you don’t need to worry about them falling. The prongs easily open to insert my brushes and the rubber tip help grip the barrels.

BoardReview_LBL8

My bathroom gets a lot of traffic, so I moved the bar to my kitchen counter where I was able to hang these from an unused corner to dry. You can hang these off a counter, desk, shelf, chair, or any other flat surface. If you have a bathtub, you could also hang it on the inside edge, that way when the water drips it goes directly down the drain.

BoardReview_LBL17

Before trying this product, I used to tie each brush onto my towel hanger in my bathroom which worked, but this is a lot more convenient because I can hang my brushes in a dry place out of the way. I also love that each brush is separated so it dries quicker.

My Thoughts

The Brush Bar and the Brush Board have made cleaning more fun and easy for me!

BoardReview_LBL2

The Brush Bar is great for quickly drying my brushes upside down without taking up too much space on my counter and is easy to store. This holds the brushes securely and out of the way. If you use makeup brushes all the time and regularly clean them, then this is definitely worth the investment.

I was pretty surprised at how much I’d like the Brush Board. Since I have a few other brands of brush exfoliators, I didn’t expect to be as wowed by this as I am. I think the 6 different scrubbers are perfect for all the different ways you might want to deep clean your brushes and the sturdiness of the board itself makes cleaning so much easier. The board is really easy to hold in one hand while sweeping the brushes with the other. I actually would recommend this over the Sigma one that I had reviewed a few years back, you can see that review here.

The Brush Bubbly is maybe the only product I could do without only because you can purchase your own cleanser from the drug store, but it still worked really well.

For more information and to order, go to getbrushbar.com They are based out of the US and ship internationally!

You can use coupon code BEAUTYLOVES15 for 15% off your first purchase! This is a non-affiliate code, but a sweet offer from The Brush Bar Company to all of you!

Let me know what you think of these items. How do you like cleaning your makeup brushes?

Lots of Love,
Dal

Winter Time Lip Care

Winter is brutal on my skin and can be painful for my lips as well because they tend to get really dry and cracked. Below are some items that help keep my lips hydrated.

One of the most important things I do to improve my overall skin hydration is drinking a lot of water. In the winter it’s mostly in the form of teas but regardless water is essential to keeping my lips hydrated.

Fresh Sugar Lip Polish

Lip Treatment Favourites_LBL (3)

You may have seen this item in my Project Pan for 2018 if not, you missed that post and can read it here! If I’m applying a lip treatment or balm I like to exfoliate first to remove the dead skin. The texture is gritty but the brown sugar granulas are really small and feel smooth.

Lip Treatment Favourites_LBL (4)

I enjoy this scrub because it has shea butter and jojoba oil to help condition the lips. It is a really comfortable scrub.

Dr Lipp Original Nipple Balm for Lips

Lip Treatment Favourites_LBL (5)

I’ve mentioned this product a few times on the blog and it’s amazing that even after so much time and trying other products I still enjoy this the best. The texture of this is like a thick petroleum jelly and it has no colour. It can feel pretty tacky so I prefer to use this at night. I also love this for my cuticles too.

Lip Treatment Favourites_LBL (6)

Their website has a multitude of uses for this balm. It has the funniest name but it’s a intensely hydrating gel that I can imagine it being really great for breastfeeding moms! I mean, that’s what it was originally for anyways. I think if you suffer from extremely dry lips this is a must.

Nova Scotia Fisherman Xtreme Lip Care

Lip Treatment Favourites_LBL (9)

Another product I’ve mentioned before on the blog numerous times is this lip balm from Nova Scotia Fisherman. I love this because it’s extremely hydrating but feels light on the lips.

Lip Treatment Favourites_LBL (10)

The product looks like it’s about to crumble apart because I use it so much. This lives on my vanity so in the morning I’ll put this on my lips to prep them while I put on my makeup.

Bite Beauty Agave Lip Balm

Lip Treatment Favourites_LBL (7)

How could I possibly have a list of favourite lip treatments without including this guy! This is such a nice light formula that I keep this in my purse and spread it on my lips whenever they start to feel dry throughout the day.

Lip Treatment Favourites_LBL (8)

It can feel slippery on the lips but I like that it almost feels like a barrier against the colder elements. I also have the lip mask and sugar scrub in the Agave line that I enjoy as well.

Lip Treatment Favourites_LBL (2)

I  love other lip products but I find that right now these four are perfect for my lips day to night. What are your favourite lip items for winter?

Lots of Love,
Dal

Estee Lauder Fall 2017 Preview Event

Summer is not over but it’s always fun to take a glimpse of what’s to come in beauty for Fall. I tend to be bolder with my makeup in Fall while starting my cold weather hydration routine and looking at Estee Lauder’s Fall Preview I see a lot of items that will do just that!
Estee Lauder Fall Preview_LBL (13)The event was held at the Thompson Hotel in Downtown Toronto. They had transformed one of penthouse suites into a beautiful backdrop for all the gorgeous items. As I entered the living room bottles of the Aerin Fragrances welcomed me in. Aerin will have two new fragrances for the fall, Tuberose Le Jour and Tuberose Le Soir a day and night scent. I love that they compliment each other so that you can wear them layered to go from day to night. Guests were treated to a delectable array of treats in the kitchen. I had a few bites before I headed to the dining area to check out the skincare items!
Estee Lauder Fall Preview_LBL (14)I love Estee Lauder skincare and at the event I got acquainted with their Re-Nutriv line. I fell in love with the Ultimate Lift Regenerating Youth which is infused with exclusive Floralixir™ Dew derived from the Himalayan Gentian and Brazilian Everlasting. These flowers thrive in extreme climates and mixed with Estee Lauder’s skincare technology help to increase natural collagen production. The cream is meant to give you a smoother, firmer, more lifted look. This felt very light and I could feel immediate hydration and firmness when I placed it on my skin. The Revitalizing Supreme + also caught my eye. This is designed to hydrate after cleansing (especially at night). Although I don’t have wrinkles now, I’m always on the hunt for skincare products that help prevent them. Both of these are items I would work into my skincare routine.
Estee Lauder Fall Preview_LBL (15)Next to all the amazing skincare were a few new lipsticks and mascaras that I was really excited about! First of all, the Pure Color Envy lipstick shades are gorgeous! I have a few lipsticks from this line that are quite awesome. They are hydrating and apply smooth on the lip. They are also long wearing on me. I usually see darker shades for Fall but after looking at the colours here I feel like it’ll be all about a bright wash of colour which is exciting. High Level has to be my favourite shade for Fall (it’s the coral shade at the very left in my photo above). The Pure Color Envy Lash are really fun mascaras! I did a swatch of the green shade and it’s as bright as the tube! I would probably want to try out the dark blue for Fall.
Estee Lauder Fall Preview_LBL (1)Everyone was flocking to the yummy wall of donut foundation! LOL! I have to give it to Estee Lauder, this was pretty adorable! There was tons of snacks and candy everywhere but this wall was just irresistible! The shades on the wall represented the many shades in the new Double Wear Nude Water Fresh Makeup. This foundation has SPF 30, and is very light and liquid.
Estee Lauder Fall Preview_LBL (9)To apply, you open the cap and place your finger over the bottle to cover it while you shake it. The amount of product that is left on your finger will be enough to cover half your face! You can even apply it with your fingers because the formula blends in very easily using the warmth of your hands. This is great for all skin types since it prevents excess oil from developing on the skin while keeping it hydrated.Estee Lauder Fall Preview_LBL (8)The item that got me so excited is the Advanced Night Repair Eye Cencentrate Matrix. This item is a dream for me because I wear concealer and eye shadow on a pretty regular basis.
Estee Lauder Fall Preview_LBL (6)Not only is this designed to target the signs of eye aging, it provides a cushion for concealer and can be used as an eye primer! I love double duty items!

I’ve learned so much at the Estee Lauder Fall Preview and I’m excited for these items.

What are you most excited for in makeup come the Fall? Also, do you like rocking a colourful mascara? If so, how to you wear it?

Lots of Love,
Dal

Thank you to the Estee Lauder team for a beautiful event!

Summer Night Time Routine, 2017

In my previous posts I have written about my morning routine and my summer makeup routine and I wanted to include my night time routine now to round it all up!Summer Night Time Routine LBL (2)On most days I wear makeup so I will use micellar water and/or makeup wipes to remove it. I have been using Bioderma’s Sensibio H2O to remove my eye makeup. I did a review of Bioderma which you can see here. I then use a makeup wipe to remove makeup from the rest of my face and down my neck. I’ve been using the Sephora’s Rose Cleansing Wipes. These wipes are OK. The wipe itself can feel stiff and a bit irritating if I use it around my eyes, but for everywhere it works pretty well and I can feel it hydrating slightly after I use it. Once a week I will switch out the Sephora wipe with my Anthony Glycolic Exfoliating & Resurfacing Wipes.
Summer Night Time Routine LBL (6)These wipes have a rough texture so it would irritate my skin if I used it too often but I do love the wipes whenever I want to deep cleanse and exfoliate my skin.

Next, I wash my face with my MUJI Foam Face Wash for sensitive skin. I read a lot of rave reviews about this company from Stashmatters (she gives the best and most thorough reviews!) so when I passed by the store I had to go in and check it out! I absolutely love this cleanser!
Summer Night Time Routine LBL (3)It’s gentle so I can use this around my eyes and doesn’t feel harsh on my skin but it really helps remove any remaining residue and leaves my skin feel squeaky clean.

Another cleanser that I have used on and off over the last 6 weeks is the Peter Thompson Roth anti-aging cleansing gel. I bought this gel from Sephora when I bought the Peter Thomas Roth Skin Saver set and this particular cleanser had a lot of good reviews. After using it for some time I think it’s only OK. It does not remove my makeup at all and unlike the MUJI wash, this one does irritate around my eyes. It’s fine for the days I don’t wear makeup or in the morning instead. I’m only including it here because I wanted to share my thoughts because since I have been testing it out. It claims to be anti-aging and brightens the skin with glycolic, citric and salicylic acid. I will use this product until it finishes but I don’t think I would repurchase it.
Summer Night Time Routine LBL (5)After cleansing I like to use the Peter Thomas Roth Retinol Fusion p.m. oil since purchasing this from Sephora 6 weeks ago (see the haul here). This has 1.5% retinol and vitamin C and E and is designed for all skin types. I’m very impressed with this. I’ve been using it for about four weeks and I’ve actually noticed a difference in my skin. For instance, I do have one wrinkle that is pretty deep above my eyebrow and after placing a drop over it for the last few weeks it has definitely been less visible! I apply one drop on my forehead, around my eyes, and my laugh lines then massage it in with my fingers. I also love the way this dropper is designed. It is curved which makes it easy to drop the product directly onto my skin.
Summer Night Time Routine LBL (4)The last step in my routine is to apply a night cream and I’ve been using the Estee Lauder Nutritious Night Vita-Mineral Intense Nourishing Creme/Mask. This is also designed for all skin types and it’s a very thick cream. I love Estee Lauder skin care and this feels really nice on the skin. I notice in the morning I’m a lot more hydrated since I’ve started using this.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve been using this series of products consistently and I feel like my skin is looking and feeling better.

There you have! This is everything I do at night. If you wanted to see my morning routine click here or if you want to see my summer makeup routine click here.

Let me know what is part of your night time routine. What steps do you take?

Lots of love,
Dal

Easy Summer Makeup Routine

I keep my makeup pretty simple because I just can’t seem to wake up early enough to complete a full-face look before I head out the door! I thought I’d share my makeup application for the summer because it only takes me about 15 minutes to put together so it’s great if you are in a rush.

First things first is my morning face routine, if you missed that post you can read it here.

Summer Makeup Routine 2017 (7)To start, I’ve been forgoing foundation and sticking to tinted moisturizers or BB creams. My current fave is Garnier’s Ombrelle tinted SPF which I’ve mentioned in my morning routine. After BB cream I’ll use concealer to add coverage to the areas under my eyes and around my nose. I have been using my Nars Radiant Concealer because it gives good coverage without being heavy and blends easily into my skin. I do about 3 dots under my eyes, a little line down the bridge of my nose to highlight, and then on the sides of my nose to cover redness I get around there.

Summer Makeup Routine 2017 (5)I’ll do a quick eye look using only two shadows from one of my Smashbox Covershot palettes (see my review of the palette by clicking here)

Summer Makeup Routine 2017 (6)I have been loving Ablaze for summer. I put Throwback in the crease and Moccasin over the lid and blend it together.

I don’t always wear liner because it takes the most of my time, but when I have an extra five minutes I will do a winged liner using Kat Von D’s Mad Max Brown Liner. I never skip mascara and right now Sephora’s Full action Mascara in brown is great at separating my lashes and making them appear thicker.Summer Makeup Routine 2017 (9) I have pretty full brows but for extra impact I’ll add Benefit’s Goof Proof Brow Pencil. It really is goof proof for me because it’s a thicker angled pencil that I can quickly swipe in-between the hairs in my brow to give it a soft definition.

Summer Makeup Routine 2017 (14)After, I take a fluffy brush and put Physician’s Formula #InstaReady Bronzer all over the perimeter of my face. I love that this bronzer is light and buildable. It’s surprisingly smooth and never looks patchy.  This is more cool toned which works great for my skin tone and leaves me with a more natural look.

Summer Makeup Routine 2017 (13)I like keeping my look bronze so I’ve been wearing Sephora’s blush in Apricot sheen. I recently bought this because it was on sale and I’m so happy I did! It is a nice peachy-bronze with gold reflex that isn’t in your face but adds a bit of sheen and highlights my cheeks. This is also a light blush so I can build it up or keep sheer.

Summer Makeup Routine 2017 (10)Last is lip balm. I have two that I love equally and keep in my bag. One is Bite Beauty’s amazing Agave Balm. It smells great and feels super comfortable on the lips. It has no colour but gives shine to my natural lip. The other is Fresh Sugar Balm sample in Rose which has a light red tint. I like this as a pick-me-up if I’m going out after work. It also has SPF 15 adding a bit more protection for my lips.

Although I’ve listed out quite a few products they don’t require too much work to apply so I never take long to put them on.

What’s a summer look you love wearing?

Lots of Love,
Dal

Bite Beauty Matte Lip Crayon VoxBox

I’m not usually a lipstick person, but there is something about this season that has got me rocking the bold lip like never before! I’ve been wearing so many berries and reds every day, even if I’m not wearing any other makeup.

Timing was perfect with my new found love for lipstick, that I would get these beautiful matte creme lip crayons courtesy of Influenster*.bite-beauty_voxbox_lbl3Bite Beauty is a Canadian Brand that creates lip products that are handmade (they’ve also developed multi-sticks that can be worn on the face). The colours are vibrant and everything is made with edible ingredients. bite-beauty_voxbox_lbl4I’ve worn Bite Beauty Lipsticks before and loved them. They are creamy, hydrating and  highly pigmented. They aren’t the longest lasting lipsticks but they feel really nice while they are on.

These Crayons are no different in that they feel really nice on. I love the matte look, and how fantastically pigmented they are. Even the light colour, Cava, looked really bold with only one sweep across the lips. I received three colours from VoxBox to try. bite-beauty_voxbox_lbl5My stand out fave of the trio is Glace which is a nice dusty mauve colour. It’s a perfect balance of bold and natural for me so I’ve enjoyed wearing this to work.

Cava which is a lilac beige, is a really interesting colour on my lips. It appears more beige but I’m sure with the right makeup could be super edgy.

Red Velvet, a nice rich, deep red is so perfect for the upcoming holidays and for winter in general. I really love this colour for a super bold look with a nice black winged liner. Out of the lip crayons I have, I feel like this one requires a lip liner. Likely because the colour is super bold.bite-beauty_voxbox_lbl1I really love that these are pen-like in design because it makes applying the colour onto my lips really easy. I’ve enjoyed wearing these for the last month because the colours are so fun! If you like lip products, you would enjoy these!

Lots of Love,
Dal

The Fall Tag

I was tagged to do the fall tag by the lovely Robyn from lipstickonlake.com and I just had to do this! Robyn’s blog is full of a lot beauty, hauls, makeup looks and reviews! Definitely give her a follow if you’re not doing so already.

I looveeee fall so doing this tag was fun for me!

What is your favourite Fall colour?

I have two answers for this. When it comes to makeup the colours I gravitate to are burgundies and golds. For my clothing however, I love wearing greys. I love long and comfy grey sweaters and cardigans in the fall and I usually pair them with my favourite pair of burgundy boats.

What is your favourite Fall lip product?

Again, I have two! One is Colourpop’s Ultra Satin Lip in Frick N’ Frack. This is a gorgeous reddish brown. I also have been in love with Teeez Cosmetics’ Material Lipstick in Hyped Taupe with is a beautiful brown/orange/red with copper flecks. Both are my faves at the moment. share_temporary

What is your favourite Fall accessory?

Like Robyn, I love scarves. I have so many! The weather varies from day to day in the fall and I feel like scarves are such a staple because I can wrap it around me for those colder days but it easily travels in my bag if the weather is a bit warmer. Plus I feel like it’s such a fall staple.

What is your favourite Fall nail polish?

I don’t wear nail polish but if I did, I’d be rocking Berlin There Done That by OPI.

What is your favourite Fall scent?

For perfume, I love Prada Candy

For food, I love the smell of chocolate because it reminds me of hot chocolate and being cozy in a warm blanket.

What is your favourite Fall fashion?

Big warm scarves!

What is your favourite Fall Starbucks drink?

London Fog! (Plus I’m really happy that Starbucks finally calls it a London Fog – Earl Grey Latte was such a tongue twister for me)

What is your favourite thing about Fall?

I like that the weather gets slightly cooler, but not so cold. I actually love the temperature of fall and being able to layer my clothes.

What are you being for Halloween?

OOOOOHHHHH!!! Pugsley Addams!! My sister is dressing up as Wednesday Addams so we thought it would be a fun to do a “couple” costume together. Especially with our boys out of town. wednesday-pugsley

What is your favourite fall hairstyle?

Well, I cut it shoulder length recently and I always wear it straight lately. It’s my transition hairstyle because I wanna go dark for the winter.

I tag the following;

MystyleInsideOut

Tigritsa

& Mrs Strawberry Blonde

Teeez Cosmetics North American Launch Dinner with David Lackie

Last Wednesday I was a lucky guest of Dave Lackie and Teeez Cosmetics to celebrate their North American Launch!

We started off at the innovative Teeez counter at the Hudson’s Bay store in Downtown Toronto. Their counter allows you to interact with this brand and their makeup in a whole new way. For instance, if you like lipstick but don’t want to remove the one you currently have on, you can simply scan your face at one of their mirror screens and then it will superimpose that lip colour onto you lips so you can see how it will look on. There are other awesome touch screens and fun things to do when there.

We then moved to the dining area that was incredibly decorated with large flower bouquets and an elegant long table for us all to sit at. Makeup was everywhere! It’s really easy to spot Teeez Cosmetics because their packaging is so funky and colourful.

The great table set up and everyone mingling while playing with Teeez makeup.

We played with all the different lipsticks, eyeliners, blushes and eyeshadows. They were also giving makeup touch-ups. The Teeez team was extremely sweet and really spent time chatting it up with all of the attendees and introduce us to Teeez.

Each guest left with an awesome tube of makeup and a fun bracelet with skulls on them, designed by Daniel J.

Now on to the Makeup!

Let’s just start off with the packaging. Teeez, which is based out of the Netherlands, is all about being cutting edge and their packaging screams fashion. Looking at it now I see fun colours, flowers, skulls and stilettos in the print.1475458466340They take their inspiration from the runway and put those looks together into a new collection. As Paul Van Der Wal explained, you no longer need to wait 6-12 months for a runway look to make it to the mainstream, Teeez is all about making it happen now.

The lipsticks are nicely pigmented needing only one swipe to give full coverage. The one I have, Hyped Mauve, smells like chocolate! This brown colour is soo 90s, perfect for this year’s fall trend. The eyeshadow quad has buildable pigmentation so that you can intensify the look to your liking. I love the purple shades which were inspired by Indian fabrics. I am excited to use the grey liner with the shadows and can never go wrong with a black mascara. I do think the colours are super fun and the pigmentation is pretty good. My personal favourite items are their single shadows because they had such amazing pigmentation and were extremely creamy! I’m going to the counter to pick one up the next time I go to the mall.

Thank you, Dave Lackie, for an amazing evening discovering this brand!

Have you tried Teeez Cosmetics? What is your favourite item from them?

Lots of love,

Dal
