Let’s Glow! Wet N’ Wild Megaglo Highlighting Powder Review

When it comes to highlight, I’m really into a natural, lit from within type of look. I always find that bold highlights don’t really work for my style. When I got this in my Topbox back in March I was really happy to see they sent me a shade I’d wear.

What It Is

Infused with ultra-reflective and micro-fine pearl pigments, this baked powder is everything you need to shine radiantly from the inside out. (Wetnwild.com)

WetnWildHightlighter (4)

Price

$6.99 CAD. Surprisingly, Amazon & Walmart Canada has these listed for $12.00-$13.00.  I found them on Well.ca for $6.99 so that’s the price I’m using here.

Colour

This is a pearl/rose shade that is really light and shimmery. My cheeks are pretty rosy and I enjoy wearing a pink or peach blush so I find a highlighter that works with my blush is what I gravitate too.

WetnWildHightlighter (5)

Packaging

The packing is very simple but I do like it. It is square with a clear cover so you can see the colour inside. I love the little flower imprint on the powder itself, it’s a nice touch.

WetnWildHightlighter (3)

Application & Wear

First looking at this highlighter I thought it might be grainy and make my skin look like it had a lot of texture but it looks super smooth on the skin and it feels really creamy. I really enjoy this highlight for everyday because it’s not super intense on initial application. You can layer it if you wanted it to be bolder, but for me I like keeping it on the light side. One time I even put this on top of my lips to add some shine to my lipstick and I thought it looked really pretty like that.

WetnWildHightlighter (2)

This does fade a little by the end of the day, there is still a little glow. I’m sure if I layered this more it would last longer, but since I’d rather keep it natural I’m good with it fading a little after 4 or 5 hours.

All in all, this is a great highlighter and the price is even better. It works as well as any of the high end highlighters I reviewed on my blog (see that post here). I would definitely recommend giving it a try.

Birthday Gifts, Increasing My Makeup Collection

I usually don’t share items that I get as gifts on my birthday as a dedicated post but since I’m on a no-buy this year I thought it would be fun to include them since I won’t be purchasing anything myself and posting any hauls. You might see some of these pop up on the blog later on as reviews or empties 🙂

Smashbox L.A. Cover Shot Eye Palette

Birthday2019_LBL (3)

I’ve reviewed the Smashbox Cover Shot Eye Palettes before that you can read here. I have a total of 4 Cover Shot palettes in my collection and this new one makes 5! The original palettes have 8 shades but this one has 16 shades (9 mattes and 7 shimmers).

Birthday2019_LBL (5)

This seems to have good reviews online so I’m excited about this palette. I like that there is a range of looks you can create, from smokey to everyday to days when you want pops of colour!

Shoppers Drug Mart Eye Studio Sampler Mascaras

Birthday2019_LBL (10)

I love these sets as gifts for others so I’m really happy that I received this myself! Basically, you get 9 mascara samples to test out and a gift certificate to trade in for one full size mascara from the 9 you have tried.

Birthday2019_LBL (1)

It’s a great way to test out new mascaras. I know there are a few in here that I already love, but I am curious about testing out the one from Lise Waiter, Pur Cosmetics and Clarins!

Aveda Stress-Fix Body Lotion

Birthday2019_LBL (8)

I love the scent of lavender because it’s so calming. A friend of mine is always getting me this lotion because she knows I like to use it in the evenings before going to bed because the scent helps me relax before sleep. It’s also hydrating which is perfect for my dry skin!

Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist

Birthday2019_LBL (9)

This wasn’t necessarily a gift from a friend but more like a gift for myself from BoxyCharm. Through purchases and reviews on BoxyCharm you collect points which you can redeem on their website for makeup, skincare and tools. I had accumulated enough points to trade in for the Tatcha skin mist that I figured why not! I’m excited to give it a try as I know this has a lot of good reviews.

Your Quilt Creations Tripple Zipper Anything. Everything Pouch Bag

Birthday2019_LBL (6)

When I got this bag I immediately thought it would make a fantastic makeup bag for traveling. I love how there are little zipper and open compartments that can be used to store everything I might need to take with me on a trip. It has these great handles to carry around and it opens up super wide so you can see everything you have at a glance.

Birthday2019_LBL (7)

You may not know, but I’m obsessed with Batman and DC comics so I thought the design was super cute! I tried to find their store on Etsy and the web but had no luck, but I found them on Facebook. I really think it’s important to support local business owners and this bag is awesome!

Have you tried any of the items above? I’d love to know your thoughts.

Lots of Love,
Dal

Bye Bye Empties, January 2019

Whoa! The first month of 2019 is over! I think January has felt like a time to refresh and start the new year with new blog goals. There has been a lot going on in my personal life too, a bit of extra stress at work but luckily towards the end I was able to sort it out.I also started celebrating my birthday with friends and family towards the end of January even though my actual birthday is February 1st.

20190201_153036

Here’s what I used up in January;

*Note: I’m on a no-buy this year so if I say I’ll repurchase an item, it just means that I liked it enough to buy it again, but just not in 2019 😛

Body Care

20190201_153237

Aveeno Positively Radiant Exfoliating Body Wash (reviewed here) I loved the scent of this body wash and how it left my skin feeling soft, smooth and hydrated. I would definitely repurchase this the next time I’m in need of an exfoliating body wash.

Bath & Body Works In the Clouds Body Wash. I wasn’t impressed with this body wash. The scent wasn’t my favourite and it didn’t leave me feeling clean even if I would pump a huge foam mountain of this. I won’t be repurchasing.

Marvis Toothpaste in Classic Strong Mint (other flavours reviewed here). I’m just going through all my Marvis toothpaste flavours and loving it! I have a couple more before I completely run out but I would repurchase them! Although this is labeled as “strong mint” I didn’t think it was as minty as one might expect, I don’t think I’d get this particular flavour again.

Skincare

20190201_153330

L’Oreal Revitalift Bright Reveal Brightening Duo. I mentioned a few months back in a previous empties post that I had the opportunity to test out the full Revitatlift range. This duo was one of the stand-out products for me. I applied it every evening and thought that the cream and serum worked really well to hydrate and brighten my skin. I would repurchase this.

Ole Henrikson Sheer Transformation Perfecting Moisturizer (reviewed here). This was a fantastic day cream. It was light, creamy and absorbed quickly into the skin. I have a few other moisturizers that I need to use up so time so I don’t think I’ll repurchase this until I’ve used them up.

Fresh Vitamin Nectar Vibrancy Boosting Face Mask. Oh, my obsession with Fresh is real! I love this mask! It has pieces of fruit in it so whenever I accidentally got some in my mouth it tasted so good! It was also really good at hydrating my skin. The only downside was that it was a bit messy so I would use this on days when I had some time to really wash it off my face, but I would definitely repurchase this.

Papa Recipe Bombee Fruitables Red Squeeze Intensive Mask. I received this in my December Topbox and was really excited to try it because it sounded to be an interesting mask. One, the sheet mask was thinner than traditional masks so it stuck to my face well and two, it had 5 extracts; tomato, apple, pomegranate, mangosteen and redcurrant, all of which are supposed to improve the skin. I’d probably repurchase this and other masks from this brand.

Makeup

20190201_153430

Benefit They’re Real Mascara. I generally like all the Benefit mascaras but this one is a staple in my collection. I really like my lashes to look super long and fanned out and this mascara does that for me. I recently used this up in my Project Pan for January. I would definitely repurchase this!

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Mad Max. This is a brown liner in the popular KVD brush tip liner style. I like the brown because it looks really nice for my everyday makeup when I want to do a winged liner but feel like using a black liner would be intense. I like having brown liners in my collection for that reason. Unfortunately, I don’t have another brown liquid liner to use for the rest of the year but I do have a few pencils which should hold me over until the end of 2019, after that, I’m sure I’ll repurchase this guy!

~~~
That’s all my empties for January. I think I did OK. I’m happy to have used up a lot of different items and clear them out of my collection. It’s been feeling really good lately to use up what I have knowing that I’m truly clearing out my stash.
What items have you been able to use up in January?
Lots of Love,
Dal
Review: Nudestix Gel Color Lip & Cheek Balm in Pulse
I love easy makeup. I like items that you can apply and blend out quickly and be on your way that doesn’t look too overdone. Of course every once in a while I like to spend over an hour perfecting a makeup look, but usually, I like being put together and natural. I like items that are one and done types of products that can be used in multiple ways.
Nudestix checks off all these boxes for me!
If you’ve never heard of Nudestix, they are a company that focuses on natural looking makeup. Started by two sisters and their mom, they sell sticks or crayons for the face, eyes and lips that add a touch of colour to enhance your natural look. Their products are vegan and cruelty-free. Plus they are Canadian!
reviewnudetix_lbl (2)
I’ve been using Nudestix for so many years now, but I’ve never reviewed their products. Today, I figured why not review this lip & cheek balm since it’s in my project pan for January.
Price
When I bought this it came in a pack of 3 mini sticks in similar nude tones for $28.00 CAD, you can find it on their website here. The three pack had three different finishes, a matte, a cream, and a gel. I’ll be focusing on the gel balm in Pulse.
Packaging
Whenever you buy a nudestix item, they usually come in a metal tin with a sharpener. I love the little tin because you can easily keep all the products together. The tin also has a mirror which is great of you want to take these on the go.
nudestix pulse_lbl
The sharpener itself also doubles a lid for the stix, so if you like to keep one in your purse, you’d have the sharpener too. Just super clever and sleek packaging.
Application & Wear
I Immediately fell in love with Pulse because I love the gel formula.  It’s super creamy and hydrating without being greasy on the lips. The colour is natural and just enhances my own lip colour. I love wearing a lip like this whenever I’m rocking a warm eye shadow. It almost feels like a gloss and has so much shine without the stickiness.
reviewnudetix_lbl
I have actually tried this formula on my cheeks as well and it applies and blends really well as blush. Even though this is gel formula, I think on me it leaves a nice dewy finish. With dry skin, I tend to like this type of look a lot. I love wearing this when I’m doing a minimal or no makeup look because it looks very flattering on my natural skin. It does apply well over foundation too.
The only downside is it’s not very long lasting. I might be able to get away with an hour of wear before it starts to fade away. Because it’s close to my lip colour, I don’t mind it so much but if I’m wearing this out, I do find that I re-apply pretty often. Note though that the matte and cream formulas are longer lasting in comparison.
reviewnudetix_lbl (4)
My Thoughts
Overall, I really love this formula because as someone who doesn’t wear lip products often I mostly prefer that they are more balm-like. I love the packaging and the brand overall. I’ll have to share my thoughts on the Nudestix eye crayons soon because those are AMAZING!
Have you tried Nudestix before? What are your thoughts on the brand and products?
Lots of Love,
Dal
2019 Blog Goals!
Happy New Year!
It’s finally 2019 and I wanted to share some goals I have for the blog! There are some things that I’m going to be doing differently in 2019 and I thought it wold be fun to keep you in the loop! I’ve never really set a goal for the blog, I just like to keep things fun. This year, I think it’ll be good to challenge myself to reach some of the goals below.
If you have any goals for your blog, I’d love to know them!
Collage_Blog Goals
My 2019 Blog Goals!
  1. Makeup No Buy. Yes, I’m going to attempt this. I have so many products in my makeup collection that I haven’t even opened and I get monthly subscription boxes full of new items. I think I can handle not purchasing any new makeup unless I must. For instance, if a makeup item runs out and I don’t have a back up of it, then I’ll purchase. Otherwise, no shopping for me!
  2. More Reviews. As I go through the makeup I have in my collection, I’ll try to post more reviews. I was looking at my previous posts and I average about 2 reviews a month. I want to increase that to 3-4.
  3. More Random Posts. I loved sharing my Summer Walk at High Park and I think it will be fun to change things up once in a while and add a post that is not beauty related but more just about my day to day.
  4. Changing up my Project Pan. This is going to be a fun challenge for me. I’m going to set up a monthly project pan for myself rather than a yearly one. This will ensure I rotate through my makeup items and I won’t get bored of using the same products. Look out for my January post with more details on that.
Lots of Love,
Dal
Festive Makeup Look, Strong Wing & Fluttery Lashes
I rarely post makeup looks on the blog, but for the holidays I thought I’d share some I know I’ll be rocking for December.
I do a lot of celebrating during the month. There are work parties, potlucks, lunches, friends-mas, cousins-mas, Xmas Eve and day, and let’s not forget topping it all off with New Year’s Eve!! In a nutshell, I’m busy eating, drinking and celebrating with those I love.
I find that during this time I really like to play around with makeup. Today I’m sharing the winged eyeliner and fluttery lash look I shared on my Instagram a week ago.
HolidayMakeup_Covergirl (10)I received these items in a recent Influenster package and I couldn’t wait to put together this look!
I love a good wing because it frames my large eyes and is pretty fun yet still elegant.
I start off with a skin-toned base all over the lid and just use bronzer in the crease to give my eyes depth. I then hold my breath as I create an exaggerated wing. If you mess up, a little micellar water or makeup remover on a small brush always does the trick to clean it up.
HolidayMakeup_Covergirl (7)
The eyeliner I used is the Covergirl Get in Line Liquid Liner. This has a fine 0.1 mm tip so I can create a really sharp wing. I also like it for getting super close to the lash line. This formula is liquid but not runny and is super black. It dries down quick but I still have time to work on the wing before it fully sets. I like it. It’s also has a comfortable grip which helps keep my hand steady.
HolidayMakeup_Covergirl (4)
To finish off the eyes I applied Covergirl Exhibitionist Mascara. I find that it coats my lashes well and the shape of the brush helps to fan out the lashes for a full and fluttery look.
HolidayMakeup_Covergirl (5)
The mascara doesn’t give me all the length I’m looking for but it’s great with the wing because it draws attention to my eyes, it’s a mascara I enjoy wearing during the day because it’s bold but not too dramatic. I have this in the very black shade which is a very intense black.
Since we’re on the Covergirl train, I finished the look off with Covergirl’s Exhibitionist Cream Lipstick in Sweetheart Blush. This is a metallic baby pink shade. I think this looks best on me as a lip topper. It is a very comfortable formula that is balm-like. This comes in 27 shades.
HolidayMakeup_Covergirl (6)
I would wear this look during the day for an office event or holiday lunch because it’s a bit extra to how I do my makeup usually for work. Plus it’s a very quick look to put together in the morning that will last me the whole day.
HolidayMakeup_Covergirl (1)
Do you like wearing a bold eyeliner and fluttery lashes?
Lots of Love,
Dal
I received the items mentioned above complimentary from Influenster.
Bye Bye Empties, October 2018
How has your October been!? Mine was super fun! My very good friend was married in the middle of the month and since I was her bridesmaid I helped her prep for the big day! The wedding was beautiful. We even performed a song at the reception together. One thing you may not know about me is that I like singing and a few years ago myself and two of my friends started a little band and played a show for our family and friends. So it was like a little reunion at the wedding.
I also celebrated Halloween by watching scary movies and tv shows all month long and celebrated Halloween parties at two of my company’s offices. The first party I dressed up as a unicorn and the second party I went as a flapper!
Anyways, now November is here and Christmas is edging ever more closely!
Here’s what I used up for October;
Skincare
EmptiesOctober2018_LBL (3)
Fresh Soy Cleanser. This is a gentle everyday cleanser that was great at removing all my makeup, including my eye makeup. I used this day and night (in between other cleansers like the Ole Henrikson which I reviewed a few days ago). I have another deluxe sample size of this before I need to repurchase it. Plus, I have so many cleansers that I’ve been using and testing so I won’t be purchasing any new cleansers for some time.
Philosophy Purity Made Simple One-Step Facial Cleanser Cloths. I wasn’t the biggest fan of these facial cleanser cloths. I felt like the cloth would tug at my face whenever I tried to remove any eye makeup like mascara or eyeliner so I ended up just using these as morning cleanser wipes before I applied makeup to my face. I will not be repurchasing them.
EmptiesOctober2018_LBL (4)
Grande Lash MD. If you’d like a full review of this product read here and here. This is pricey so it’s really hard justifying having to get one every 3 months BUT it does work on me. Right now I have the Lash Enhancer from Shiseido open so I won’t be repurchasing it so soon, but I think it might be something I add to my Christmas list.
EmptiesOctober2018_LBL (5)
Bella Aura Skincare Night Cellular Renewal and Instant Lifting Eye Contour. I received these two items my Topbox subscription. This formula is very runny, but it absorbs into the skin like a dream and left me super hydrated. It has a very perfumed scent which I don’t mind, but I know that might turn off some who are sensitive to scent or don’t like fragrance in their skincare. I really do enjoy this brand it’s just that I have quite a few skincare items that I have not opened so I don’t imagine purchasing this anytime soon.
Youth to the People Superfood Firm and Brighten Serum. I received this deluxe sample in a Sephora Favourites bundle and I was super excited for it because it’s designed to target fine lines and wrinkles and uneven skin tone. The sample size lasted about 3 weeks but I didn’t really notice anything special happening with my skin so I will not repurchase this product.
Body Care
EmptiesOctober2018_LBL (7)
Jo Malone London Red Roses Bath Oil. I received this as a Christmas gift last year and I’ve been ever so cautious with how much I use so I could stretch this out as long as possible. I love Jo Malone and own a few fragrances and body items from this brand. This oil made me feel so fancy whenever I used it, but it also was super effective. I would put a few drops into my bath and it had this lovely scent of wild roses. It was also very hydrating without feeling greasy.  This is going back on my Christmas list!
EmptiesOctober2018_LBL (6)
Yves Rocher Organic Oats Hand Cream. For Fall and Winter, I live on hand cream. I keep ones at home, in my purse, in my car and at the office. I constantly need some. Yves Rocher has some really good hand cream and this one is pretty good except that the scent turned bad so I couldn’t use it anymore because it smelled gross. I have other hand creams that I need to use so I won’t be repurchasing this.
Gold Bond Ultimate Moisturizing Aloe Hand and Body Cream. SOOOOO I’m not kidding when I say I live on cream in the colder months. This is nothing fancy but it’s good! It hydrates my skin and doesn’t have a strong scent. The best part is I can probably get a large bottle for about $8.00! I’m purchasing this again!
EmptiesOctober2018_LBL (1)
So that’s what I used up in October. Nothing really wowed me that I’m running to repurchase but I’m glad a lot of these items have been used up!
What is in your empties stash for October?
Lots of Love,
Dal
Unboxing Topbox, September 2018
Price: $12.00 CAD (plus tax, free shipping) 4 items.
Topbox is a Canadian monthly beauty subscription service. Each month you have the option of getting a surprise box or to swap it for a prive box where all the products are from one brand or fall within a theme and you know what they are. This month I opted for the Benefit #Benefaves Prive Box and got it!
UnboxingTopbox_Sept2018_LBL (1)
I really wanted this prive box because I love Benefit products and love the little mini sizes for travelling. If you weren’t familiar with Benefit products this is also a good way to discover a lot of the popular makeup items.
Prices in Canadian Dollars
They’re Real Lengthening Mascara
Full Size: $32.00 (0.3 oz), Sample Size: $10.67 (0.1 oz)
UnboxingTopbox_Sept2018_LBL (8)
I’ve said many times on the blog that I love this mascara. It’s my favourite for adding so much length and volume. I own the full size of They’re Real in both the black and the brown and always keep backups. If you’d like to see how it looks on my lashes you can read my post here where I compared the Band Gal Bang against They’re Real and Roller Lash mascara.
Gimme Brow+ Brow Volumizing Fibre Gel in Shade 3 Neutral Light Brown
Full Size: $32.00 (0.1 oz), Sample Size: $9.60 (.03 oz)
UnboxingTopbox_Sept2018_LBL (6)
I have semi-full brows but when I want them to look really full and natural, I’ll run some of this through them. It just coats the hairs I have in the brown shade and the fibres add a little bit of thickness. The brush tip is tapered and short which makes it easy for me to brush this through my brows. Since this is a gel, it also helps to keep the hairs in place.
The POREfessional Primer
Full Size: $42.00 (0.75 oz), Sample Size: $5.60 (0.1 oz)
UnboxingTopbox_Sept2018_LBL (7)
I don’t use this primer too often, but whenever I’m wearing a full face of makeup I like to put this around my nose and cheek to fill in my pores and leave that area smooth for makeup application. I do have other products that do the same thing but I will always enjoy this one the most because it leaves my skin feeling matte and works well for my dry skin.
Hoola Matte Bronzer
Full Size: $38.00 (0.28 oz), Sample Size: $13.57 (0.1 oz)
UnboxingTopbox_Sept2018_LBL (9)
This is one of my favourite cool-toned bronzers. I like that there is no orange in this, so it gives me a more natural glow. It works so well with my skin tone and I just love how fine the powder is.  I like the style of this packaging because although this is a sample, it’s not in a small round pan, but a flat square one which makes it easy to dip my large brush into.
Watt’s up Cream to Powder Highlighter
Full Size: $40.00 (0.33 oz), Sample Size: $9.70 (0.08 oz)
UnboxingTopbox_Sept2018_LBL (5)
I used to have another little sample of this highlighter that I used all the time before I started purchasing powder. I do really like this when I’m doing all cream makeup on my face. It does transform from a cream to powder but I find that it just applies a lot easier when there is little to no foundation underneath. It’s a gorgeous light champagne colour that I’ve worn numerous times on my cheeks and eyes. I’ve even popped it on the centre of my lips when I wanted a little-highlighted lipstick. It’s maybe not as popular as the other Benefit products above, but it’s still really good!
My Thoughts
UnboxingTopbox_Sept2018_LBL (10)
Well, if you couldn’t guess, I’m extremely happy with this box. These are all Benefit items that I really enjoy. The only suggestion I would make is that Topbox offers two versions of this prive, this one and maybe one with more recent Benefit products, like the Bad Gal Bang mascara or new Hoola light bronzer. Either way, I’m going to use all of these products right away!
Total Value: $40.14 CAD!
Did you get Topbox this month? Did you opt for a surprise box or prive box? What did you enjoy from your box?
Lots of Love,
Dal
Unboxing, Topbox July 2018
Price: $12.00 CAD (plus tax, free shipping) 4 items.
Topbox is a Canadian monthly beauty subscription service. Each month you have the option of getting a surprise box or to swap it for a prive box where all the products are from one brand or fall within a theme and you know what they are. This month I opted for the surprise box!
Prices are in Canadian Dollars.
SKIN&CO Roma Truffle Therapy Whipped Cleansing Cream
Full Size: $40.00 (150mL), Sample Size: $8.00 (30mL)
Topbox July 2018 (2)
It’s been a while since I’ve received a facial cleanser and this one sounds really good! This is a highly concentrated cleanser so a little dollop is all you need to cleanse the face which is made for dry & dull skin. This is formulated with pure Truffle Extract from Italy and Almond Oil, it works gently while providing intense hydration. I love whipped or foamy types of cleansers for my face. One of my favourite whipped formulas is the Origins Checks and Balances face wash, but this Skin&CO one sounds like it will be way more hydrating than that one so I hope it works really well on my skin!
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant, The Original
Full Size: $29.00 (50mL), $2.90 (5mL)
Topbox July 2018 (4)
I absolutely love Elizabeth Arden skincare! I don’t think I’ve ever come across an item I didn’t like. This is one of those all over, do everything type of moisturizers. You can use it to do so much including; shaping brows, soothe dry hands, smooth cuticles etc. I’d probably use this on my elbows, lips, around my eyes and so many other areas of my face and body. I love carrying creams like this to use whenever I need.
Pretty Woman NYC Nail Polish in So Minaj
Full Size: $11.84 (10mL), this is a full-size item
Topbox July 2018 (3)
This is a pretty pink frost shimmer nail polish. I put two coats of this on my toenails when I received my topbox about a week ago and they’ve held up really well. This is a thin formula which I prefer because it tends to stick my nails a bit better. These polishes are, Cruelty-Free, Paraben-Free, Sulfate-Free, Phthalates-Free, Petrochemical-Free, GMO-Free, Triclosan-Free, & Vegan.
The Beauty Crop FABULOUS FLOCKING LASHES MASCARA
Full Size: $25.00 (8ml), Sample Size: $13.48 (4mL)
Topbox July 2018 (5)
I’m not sure if what we received are the Beauty Crop mascaras before they were reformulated or if this is just the tube that they put the sample size mascara into. The one online looks like a new tube style packaging, but, what we received is a volume size that is similar to a lot of my deluxe size mascaras so I am a bit confused. You can see what I’m talking about here. I, unfortunately, can’t find them on CheckFresh.com to see if it is indeed the other version.
Topbox July 2018 (6)
Anyways, the packaging on this is super cute! I love the pink tube and the little flamingos. I this the Beauty Crop has adorable packaging. The wand isn’t exactly the style I wear a lot of but I could possibly use it for my lower lashline. I do like that this is a waterproof mascara and I love the addition of argan oil and jojoba.
BONUS! Dove Exfoliating Body Polish in Crushed Macadamia & Rice Milk
Topbox July 2018 (7)
I’m really excited about this bonus item! I have a jar of the new Dove Exfoliating Body Polish in the kiwi seeds and cool aloe scent and love it so much because it smells so fruity and fresh. I love macadamia, so I’m sure this is going to smell like a delicious dessert. The exfoliating bits in this polish feel like sand, they are really small and feel like you’re at the beach. I really love it! I think I will get two uses out of this sample and I will use it to prep my legs before shaving or apply tanning lotion
My Thoughts
Again, Topbox has another great bag! The items I received are ones that I look forward to using. I’m most excited about the whipped facial cleanser! Total Value of my box; $36.22 (bonus sample not included)
Did you receive Topbox this month? What items did you get?
Lots of love,
Dal
Unboxing BoxyCharm, June 2018
It is gorgeous outside as I write this but it is so warm in Toronto! I love it! Although I received my BoxyCharm about a week and a half ago, I’ve been pretty busy so I finally made time to post this unboxing!
Price: $21.00 USD (+$5.00 shipping to Canada)
Number of items: 4-5 full-size items
Boxycharm is a monthly subscription box of full-size makeup, skincare and beauty tools. The theme for this month is “Caribbean Queen”. The products are very Caribbean inspired and makes me feel summer vibes!
Alamar Cosmetics Reina Del Caribe Palette
MSRP: $28.00 USD
I am so in love with the packaging of this palette! It has 8 intensely pigmented shades, with colours that are inspired by Cuban beauty and culture. I swatched a few colours and thought they were so pretty and bold! I really can’t wait to start using this on my eyes.
20180629_120356
I’ll have to share a look on Insta when I do. Beside each shade, name is either a sun or water droplet symbol. All of them can be used dry, but the ones with a water symbol can be used with a wet brush.
These are handmade 100% silk lashes which explains why they are so pricey. I probably would never pick them up, but I’m willing to try them since they came in my BoxyCharm. I think the packing is really nice on this too. The lashes themselves are really soft and look very natural looking.
Sol De Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream
MSRP: $10.00 USD
I LOVE this cream! I have a large tub of this in my bathroom that I love using it all over my body. It leaves me feeling really hydrated. This contains a tiny amount of mica that when applied over the body gives a little glow (it looks like micro-sparkle). The scent of pistachio caramel is soooooo good! I love this little tub because I can take this with me when travelling!
Luxie 3 Piece Flawless Complexion
MSRP: $42.00 USD
I love Luxie brushes and I’m really excited to receive them in this month’s box! The 660 Precision Foundation Brush has less bristle density that makes it good for applying powder and liquid foundation to create a soft, diffused look. The 522 Tapered Highlighting Brush is really fluffy to apply highlight on the high points on the face. The 516 Duo Fiber Powder Brush is good for applying cream or powder products for a softer diffused look. Although the 522 and 516 look the same, the 516 does feel denser which is good for applying cream products. If I used cream blush I might like this more. I have a mineral foundation that I want to try the 660 brush with and I actually want to use the 516 to buff out eyeshadow to give me a softer look. I wish at least one brush was a bit larger to make it more suited for foundation application.
I love brown eyeliners and as I use up the one I currently have, I’m glad to have a new one ready as a backup. This is 100% vegan and waterproof.
Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Verona
MSRP: $21.00 USD
With the bright eyeshadow that came in the palette, I can understand that BoxyCharm decided to add a nude lip colour. I like getting Ofra items because I would not necessarily buy anything from them although I hear really good things about their products. I think it’s because I’d rather go into a store and buy their products to test out and they don’t sell in any store I know of.
My Thoughts
I am so happy with this box! It really stuck to the theme, offering items that remind me of the Caribbean.  I also like that I can create a look using the items offered. It was a really well thought out box! Total Value $134.00 ($176.29 CAD!)
Did you receive BoxyCharm this month? What was your favourite item from this box?
Lots of love,
Dal
