Festive Makeup Look, Strong Wing & Fluttery Lashes

I rarely post makeup looks on the blog, but for the holidays I thought I’d share some I know I’ll be rocking for December.

I do a lot of celebrating during the month. There are work parties, potlucks, lunches, friends-mas, cousins-mas, Xmas Eve and day, and let’s not forget topping it all off with New Year’s Eve!! In a nutshell, I’m busy eating, drinking and celebrating with those I love.

I find that during this time I really like to play around with makeup. Today I’m sharing the winged eyeliner and fluttery lash look I shared on my Instagram a week ago.

HolidayMakeup_Covergirl (10)I received these items in a recent Influenster package and I couldn’t wait to put together this look!

I love a good wing because it frames my large eyes and is pretty fun yet still elegant.

I start off with a skin-toned base all over the lid and just use bronzer in the crease to give my eyes depth. I then hold my breath as I create an exaggerated wing. If you mess up, a little micellar water or makeup remover on a small brush always does the trick to clean it up.

HolidayMakeup_Covergirl (7)

The eyeliner I used is the Covergirl Get in Line Liquid Liner. This has a fine 0.1 mm tip so I can create a really sharp wing. I also like it for getting super close to the lash line. This formula is liquid but not runny and is super black. It dries down quick but I still have time to work on the wing before it fully sets. I like it. It’s also has a comfortable grip which helps keep my hand steady.

HolidayMakeup_Covergirl (4)

To finish off the eyes I applied Covergirl Exhibitionist Mascara. I find that it coats my lashes well and the shape of the brush helps to fan out the lashes for a full and fluttery look.

HolidayMakeup_Covergirl (5)

The mascara doesn’t give me all the length I’m looking for but it’s great with the wing because it draws attention to my eyes, it’s a mascara I enjoy wearing during the day because it’s bold but not too dramatic. I have this in the very black shade which is a very intense black.

Since we’re on the Covergirl train, I finished the look off with Covergirl’s Exhibitionist Cream Lipstick in Sweetheart Blush. This is a metallic baby pink shade. I think this looks best on me as a lip topper. It is a very comfortable formula that is balm-like. This comes in 27 shades.

HolidayMakeup_Covergirl (6)

I would wear this look during the day for an office event or holiday lunch because it’s a bit extra to how I do my makeup usually for work. Plus it’s a very quick look to put together in the morning that will last me the whole day.

HolidayMakeup_Covergirl (1)

Do you like wearing a bold eyeliner and fluttery lashes?

Lots of Love,
Dal

I received the items mentioned above complimentary from Influenster.

Bye Bye Empties, October 2018

How has your October been!? Mine was super fun! My very good friend was married in the middle of the month and since I was her bridesmaid I helped her prep for the big day! The wedding was beautiful. We even performed a song at the reception together. One thing you may not know about me is that I like singing and a few years ago myself and two of my friends started a little band and played a show for our family and friends. So it was like a little reunion at the wedding.

I also celebrated Halloween by watching scary movies and tv shows all month long and celebrated Halloween parties at two of my company’s offices. The first party I dressed up as a unicorn and the second party I went as a flapper!

Anyways, now November is here and Christmas is edging ever more closely!

Here’s what I used up for October;

Skincare

EmptiesOctober2018_LBL (3)

Fresh Soy Cleanser. This is a gentle everyday cleanser that was great at removing all my makeup, including my eye makeup. I used this day and night (in between other cleansers like the Ole Henrikson which I reviewed a few days ago). I have another deluxe sample size of this before I need to repurchase it. Plus, I have so many cleansers that I’ve been using and testing so I won’t be purchasing any new cleansers for some time.

Philosophy Purity Made Simple One-Step Facial Cleanser Cloths. I wasn’t the biggest fan of these facial cleanser cloths. I felt like the cloth would tug at my face whenever I tried to remove any eye makeup like mascara or eyeliner so I ended up just using these as morning cleanser wipes before I applied makeup to my face. I will not be repurchasing them.

EmptiesOctober2018_LBL (4)

Grande Lash MD. If you’d like a full review of this product read here and here. This is pricey so it’s really hard justifying having to get one every 3 months BUT it does work on me. Right now I have the Lash Enhancer from Shiseido open so I won’t be repurchasing it so soon, but I think it might be something I add to my Christmas list.

EmptiesOctober2018_LBL (5)

Bella Aura Skincare Night Cellular Renewal and Instant Lifting Eye Contour. I received these two items my Topbox subscription. This formula is very runny, but it absorbs into the skin like a dream and left me super hydrated. It has a very perfumed scent which I don’t mind, but I know that might turn off some who are sensitive to scent or don’t like fragrance in their skincare. I really do enjoy this brand it’s just that I have quite a few skincare items that I have not opened so I don’t imagine purchasing this anytime soon.

Youth to the People Superfood Firm and Brighten Serum. I received this deluxe sample in a Sephora Favourites bundle and I was super excited for it because it’s designed to target fine lines and wrinkles and uneven skin tone. The sample size lasted about 3 weeks but I didn’t really notice anything special happening with my skin so I will not repurchase this product.

Body Care

EmptiesOctober2018_LBL (7)

Jo Malone London Red Roses Bath Oil. I received this as a Christmas gift last year and I’ve been ever so cautious with how much I use so I could stretch this out as long as possible. I love Jo Malone and own a few fragrances and body items from this brand. This oil made me feel so fancy whenever I used it, but it also was super effective. I would put a few drops into my bath and it had this lovely scent of wild roses. It was also very hydrating without feeling greasy.  This is going back on my Christmas list!

EmptiesOctober2018_LBL (6)

Yves Rocher Organic Oats Hand Cream. For Fall and Winter, I live on hand cream. I keep ones at home, in my purse, in my car and at the office. I constantly need some. Yves Rocher has some really good hand cream and this one is pretty good except that the scent turned bad so I couldn’t use it anymore because it smelled gross. I have other hand creams that I need to use so I won’t be repurchasing this.

Gold Bond Ultimate Moisturizing Aloe Hand and Body Cream. SOOOOO I’m not kidding when I say I live on cream in the colder months. This is nothing fancy but it’s good! It hydrates my skin and doesn’t have a strong scent. The best part is I can probably get a large bottle for about $8.00! I’m purchasing this again!

EmptiesOctober2018_LBL (1)

So that’s what I used up in October. Nothing really wowed me that I’m running to repurchase but I’m glad a lot of these items have been used up!

What is in your empties stash for October?

Lots of Love,
Dal

Unboxing Topbox, September 2018

Price: $12.00 CAD (plus tax, free shipping) 4 items.

Topbox is a Canadian monthly beauty subscription service. Each month you have the option of getting a surprise box or to swap it for a prive box where all the products are from one brand or fall within a theme and you know what they are. This month I opted for the Benefit #Benefaves Prive Box and got it!

UnboxingTopbox_Sept2018_LBL (1)

I really wanted this prive box because I love Benefit products and love the little mini sizes for travelling. If you weren’t familiar with Benefit products this is also a good way to discover a lot of the popular makeup items.

Prices in Canadian Dollars

They’re Real Lengthening Mascara
Full Size: $32.00 (0.3 oz), Sample Size: $10.67 (0.1 oz)

UnboxingTopbox_Sept2018_LBL (8)

I’ve said many times on the blog that I love this mascara. It’s my favourite for adding so much length and volume. I own the full size of They’re Real in both the black and the brown and always keep backups. If you’d like to see how it looks on my lashes you can read my post here where I compared the Band Gal Bang against They’re Real and Roller Lash mascara.

Gimme Brow+ Brow Volumizing Fibre Gel in Shade 3 Neutral Light Brown
Full Size: $32.00 (0.1 oz), Sample Size: $9.60 (.03 oz)

UnboxingTopbox_Sept2018_LBL (6)

I have semi-full brows but when I want them to look really full and natural, I’ll run some of this through them. It just coats the hairs I have in the brown shade and the fibres add a little bit of thickness. The brush tip is tapered and short which makes it easy for me to brush this through my brows. Since this is a gel, it also helps to keep the hairs in place.

The POREfessional Primer
Full Size: $42.00 (0.75 oz), Sample Size: $5.60 (0.1 oz)

UnboxingTopbox_Sept2018_LBL (7)

I don’t use this primer too often, but whenever I’m wearing a full face of makeup I like to put this around my nose and cheek to fill in my pores and leave that area smooth for makeup application. I do have other products that do the same thing but I will always enjoy this one the most because it leaves my skin feeling matte and works well for my dry skin.

Hoola Matte Bronzer
Full Size: $38.00 (0.28 oz), Sample Size: $13.57 (0.1 oz)

UnboxingTopbox_Sept2018_LBL (9)

This is one of my favourite cool-toned bronzers. I like that there is no orange in this, so it gives me a more natural glow. It works so well with my skin tone and I just love how fine the powder is.  I like the style of this packaging because although this is a sample, it’s not in a small round pan, but a flat square one which makes it easy to dip my large brush into.

Watt’s up Cream to Powder Highlighter
Full Size: $40.00 (0.33 oz), Sample Size: $9.70 (0.08 oz)

UnboxingTopbox_Sept2018_LBL (5)

I used to have another little sample of this highlighter that I used all the time before I started purchasing powder. I do really like this when I’m doing all cream makeup on my face. It does transform from a cream to powder but I find that it just applies a lot easier when there is little to no foundation underneath. It’s a gorgeous light champagne colour that I’ve worn numerous times on my cheeks and eyes. I’ve even popped it on the centre of my lips when I wanted a little-highlighted lipstick. It’s maybe not as popular as the other Benefit products above, but it’s still really good!

My Thoughts

UnboxingTopbox_Sept2018_LBL (10)

Well, if you couldn’t guess, I’m extremely happy with this box. These are all Benefit items that I really enjoy. The only suggestion I would make is that Topbox offers two versions of this prive, this one and maybe one with more recent Benefit products, like the Bad Gal Bang mascara or new Hoola light bronzer. Either way, I’m going to use all of these products right away!

Total Value: $40.14 CAD!

Did you get Topbox this month? Did you opt for a surprise box or prive box? What did you enjoy from your box?

Lots of Love,
Dal

Unboxing, Topbox July 2018

Price: $12.00 CAD (plus tax, free shipping) 4 items.

Topbox is a Canadian monthly beauty subscription service. Each month you have the option of getting a surprise box or to swap it for a prive box where all the products are from one brand or fall within a theme and you know what they are. This month I opted for the surprise box!

Prices are in Canadian Dollars.

SKIN&CO Roma Truffle Therapy Whipped Cleansing Cream
Full Size: $40.00 (150mL), Sample Size: $8.00 (30mL)

Topbox July 2018 (2)

It’s been a while since I’ve received a facial cleanser and this one sounds really good! This is a highly concentrated cleanser so a little dollop is all you need to cleanse the face which is made for dry & dull skin. This is formulated with pure Truffle Extract from Italy and Almond Oil, it works gently while providing intense hydration. I love whipped or foamy types of cleansers for my face. One of my favourite whipped formulas is the Origins Checks and Balances face wash, but this Skin&CO one sounds like it will be way more hydrating than that one so I hope it works really well on my skin!

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant, The Original
Full Size: $29.00 (50mL), $2.90 (5mL)

Topbox July 2018 (4)

I absolutely love Elizabeth Arden skincare! I don’t think I’ve ever come across an item I didn’t like. This is one of those all over, do everything type of moisturizers. You can use it to do so much including; shaping brows, soothe dry hands, smooth cuticles etc. I’d probably use this on my elbows, lips, around my eyes and so many other areas of my face and body. I love carrying creams like this to use whenever I need.

Pretty Woman NYC Nail Polish in So Minaj
Full Size: $11.84 (10mL), this is a full-size item

Topbox July 2018 (3)

This is a pretty pink frost shimmer nail polish. I put two coats of this on my toenails when I received my topbox about a week ago and they’ve held up really well. This is a thin formula which I prefer because it tends to stick my nails a bit better. These polishes are, Cruelty-Free, Paraben-Free, Sulfate-Free, Phthalates-Free, Petrochemical-Free, GMO-Free, Triclosan-Free, & Vegan.

The Beauty Crop FABULOUS FLOCKING LASHES MASCARA
Full Size: $25.00 (8ml), Sample Size: $13.48 (4mL)

Topbox July 2018 (5)

I’m not sure if what we received are the Beauty Crop mascaras before they were reformulated or if this is just the tube that they put the sample size mascara into. The one online looks like a new tube style packaging, but, what we received is a volume size that is similar to a lot of my deluxe size mascaras so I am a bit confused. You can see what I’m talking about here. I, unfortunately, can’t find them on CheckFresh.com to see if it is indeed the other version.

Topbox July 2018 (6)

Anyways, the packaging on this is super cute! I love the pink tube and the little flamingos. I this the Beauty Crop has adorable packaging. The wand isn’t exactly the style I wear a lot of but I could possibly use it for my lower lashline. I do like that this is a waterproof mascara and I love the addition of argan oil and jojoba.

BONUS! Dove Exfoliating Body Polish in Crushed Macadamia & Rice Milk

Topbox July 2018 (7)

I’m really excited about this bonus item! I have a jar of the new Dove Exfoliating Body Polish in the kiwi seeds and cool aloe scent and love it so much because it smells so fruity and fresh. I love macadamia, so I’m sure this is going to smell like a delicious dessert. The exfoliating bits in this polish feel like sand, they are really small and feel like you’re at the beach. I really love it! I think I will get two uses out of this sample and I will use it to prep my legs before shaving or apply tanning lotion

My Thoughts

Again, Topbox has another great bag! The items I received are ones that I look forward to using. I’m most excited about the whipped facial cleanser! Total Value of my box; $36.22 (bonus sample not included)

Did you receive Topbox this month? What items did you get?

Lots of love,
Dal

Unboxing BoxyCharm, June 2018

It is gorgeous outside as I write this but it is so warm in Toronto! I love it! Although I received my BoxyCharm about a week and a half ago, I’ve been pretty busy so I finally made time to post this unboxing!

Price: $21.00 USD (+$5.00 shipping to Canada)
Number of items: 4-5 full-size items

Boxycharm is a monthly subscription box of full-size makeup, skincare and beauty tools. The theme for this month is “Caribbean Queen”. The products are very Caribbean inspired and makes me feel summer vibes!

ALL PRICES IN USD CONVERTED TO CAD AT THE END

Alamar Cosmetics Reina Del Caribe Palette
MSRP: $28.00 USD

I am so in love with the packaging of this palette! It has 8 intensely pigmented shades, with colours that are inspired by Cuban beauty and culture. I swatched a few colours and thought they were so pretty and bold! I really can’t wait to start using this on my eyes.

20180629_120356

I’ll have to share a look on Insta when I do. Beside each shade, name is either a sun or water droplet symbol. All of them can be used dry, but the ones with a water symbol can be used with a wet brush.

Battington Monroe Silk Lashes
MSRP: $28.00 USD

20180629_120155

These are handmade 100% silk lashes which explains why they are so pricey. I probably would never pick them up, but I’m willing to try them since they came in my BoxyCharm. I think the packing is really nice on this too. The lashes themselves are really soft and look very natural looking.

Sol De Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream
MSRP: $10.00 USD

20180629_120237

I LOVE this cream! I have a large tub of this in my bathroom that I love using it all over my body. It leaves me feeling really hydrated. This contains a tiny amount of mica that when applied over the body gives a little glow (it looks like micro-sparkle). The scent of pistachio caramel is soooooo good! I love this little tub because I can take this with me when travelling!

Luxie 3 Piece Flawless Complexion
MSRP: $42.00 USD

20180629_120511

I love Luxie brushes and I’m really excited to receive them in this month’s box! The 660 Precision Foundation Brush has less bristle density that makes it good for applying powder and liquid foundation to create a soft, diffused look. The 522 Tapered Highlighting Brush is really fluffy to apply highlight on the high points on the face. The 516 Duo Fiber Powder Brush is good for applying cream or powder products for a softer diffused look. Although the 522 and 516 look the same, the 516 does feel denser which is good for applying cream products. If I used cream blush I might like this more. I have a mineral foundation that I want to try the 660 brush with and I actually want to use the 516 to buff out eyeshadow to give me a softer look. I wish at least one brush was a bit larger to make it more suited for foundation application.

Jonteblu Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil
MSRP: $5.00 USD

20180629_120104

I love brown eyeliners and as I use up the one I currently have, I’m glad to have a new one ready as a backup. This is 100% vegan and waterproof.

Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Verona
MSRP: $21.00 USD

20180629_120305

With the bright eyeshadow that came in the palette, I can understand that BoxyCharm decided to add a nude lip colour. I like getting Ofra items because I would not necessarily buy anything from them although I hear really good things about their products. I think it’s because I’d rather go into a store and buy their products to test out and they don’t sell in any store I know of.

My Thoughts

20180629_120041

I am so happy with this box! It really stuck to the theme, offering items that remind me of the Caribbean.  I also like that I can create a look using the items offered. It was a really well thought out box! Total Value $134.00 ($176.29 CAD!)

Did you receive BoxyCharm this month? What was your favourite item from this box?

Lots of love,
Dal

Unboxing Topbox, June 2018

This last week has been so busy! My office moved locations and over the weekend I spent all of my time managing that. As the week progressed I was focused on ensuring the transistion to the new space went smoothly and people were happy. It’s left no time for me to really focus too much on the blog.

I’m back now, but I’m going to keep today’s post really short and sweet and share what I received in my Topbox. I have some reviews coming up which I’m excited to share and maybe some other fun personal items too!

TopboxJune2018_LBL1

Price: $12.00 CAD (plus tax, free shipping) 4 items.

Topbox is a Canadian monthly beauty subscription service. Each month you have the option of getting a surprise box or to swap it for a prive box where all the products are from one brand or fall within a theme and you know what they are.

This month I opted for the Athleisure Derm box and I got it! These are gym ready kits that you can find at Shoppers Drug Mart that contain products designed to work with an active lifestyle. I think it’s great because whether you enjoy products made for pre and post gym care or know someone who does, it’s fun to pick up a set that you can throw into your gym bag!

Prices are in CAD

Avene Trixera Nutri-Fluid Cleanser
Full Size: $29.00 (400 ml), Deluxe Size: $7.25 (100 ml)

TopboxJune2018_LBL4

You can use this for the face and body making it a great cleanser for after the gym. This is designed for dry to very dry sensistive skin. It hardly has a scent which I really like. I would use a product like this for vacation.

Avene Thermal Spring Water
Mini Size: $9.80 (50 ml)

TopboxJune2018_LBL5

According to the description, this is good to sooth and cleanse the skin before exercising and cools and refreshes during your exercise and after. This sounds good for those hot summer days when you want to cool and refresh your skin as well.

Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk
Full Size: $15.50 (150 ml), Sample Size: $5.17 (50 ml)

TopboxJune2018_LBL7

This is probably a staple for me for when I work out because I love using dry shampoo to refresh my hair afterwards. This is gentle on the hair because of the addition of oat milk and helps to volumize and add texture to the hair using absorbing micronized powders.

Elancyl Slim Design Night
Full Size: $60.00 (200 ml), Sample Size: $2.10 (7 ml)

TopboxJune2018_LBL8

This little packet reduces the look of dimples and cellulite. I’m not sure how much you are supposed to apply every night but I’m hoping I might get about 2-3 nights worth of product in here if I’m being sparing with the product. We will see but I’m not sure I’ll see any major changes.

My Thoughts

I wanted this box and I’m really happy I got it. I mostly wanted it for the first three items I mentioned so I’m not too bothered that the Elancly cream is in a tiny packet. Total Value of my box;  $24.32

TopboxJune2018_LBL3

Did you get Topbox this month? Have you tried any of the items mentioned above? Let me know your thoughts!

Lots of love,
Dal

Unboxing Topbox, May 2018

Price: $12.00 CAD (plus tax, free shipping) 4 items.

Topbox is a Canadian monthly beauty subscription service. Each month you have the option of getting a surprise box or to swap it for a prive box where all the products are from one brand or fall within a theme and you know what they are. This month I got a surprise box!

Cake Beauty Triple Citrus Blend Body Butter Cream
Full Size: $15.00 (200 ml), Sample Size: $4.50 (30 ml)

Topbox May 2018 (5)

I’ve received a Cake Beauty product in Topbox for a while but I knew eventually I would see this brand again! I do enjoy Cake Beauty because their body care smells really good and works really well on my skin. This body butter cream smells so good! I love citrus scents. The butter is good for ultra-dehydrated skin with shea butter for nourishment. Lately, my hands have been feeling extremely dry so I might save this for them.

Benefit Cosmetics BROWVO! Conditioning Eyebrow Primer
Full Size: $38.00 (3 ml), Sample Size: $11.40 (0.9 ml)

Topbox May 2018 (7)

According to the description of this product it conditions & smooths your brows when worn on its own. If worn as a primer it enhances & extends the wear of other brow products. I have another sample of this product which I’ve never used because I don’t see the need to add another step to my brow routine by using this as a primer. However, I might use it when I leave my brows bare just to help brush and condition them in place.

Nude By Nature Natural Glow Loose Bronzer
Full Size: $30.00 (10g), Sample Size: $7.60 (2g)

Topbox May 2018 (6)

I’m really excited to receive another item from Nude by Nature to try out. I’ve been using the primer I received last month in my Topbox and I really like it! I’ve never used loose bronzer but this might be really nice for the summer because it looks to have a nice glow!

BLAQ Hydrogel Eye Mask
One Pack (5 masks): $29.00, One Mask: $5.80

Topbox May 2018 (3)

This activated charcoal eye mask helps de-puff and detox around the eyes. I’ve been testing a lot of eye masks lately because I’ve had long days at work and need something to hydrate my skin. This has hyaluronic acid so I definitely think it will help with that!

Topbox May 2018 (4)

I’ve never seen this brand before so I went to their website to get more information. Blaq is an Australian skincare brand that builds their products around activated charcoal as their main ingredient. I am interested in the eye mask and would also want to try their Blaq mask and Blaq teeth whitening wand.

Bonus Item! Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes

Topbox May 2018 (2)

I haven’t used one of these in the longest time! This isn’t the best wipe for removing makeup, but if you want to use it to quickly cleanse your face when in a pinch this is great. I love this little packet because then I can take it with me on an overnight trip.

My Thoughts

What a great box! Topbox has really been stepping it up lately and each month I am more and more excited about the items I’ve been receiving. A lot of these items are perfect for spring/summer, such as the bronzer and even the body cream because the scent reminds me of warm weather. I love that the box included brands and products I have not used before. The total value of the box: $29.30 (excluding the bonus item)!

Do you subscribe to Topbox? If so, what did you get in your box and what are your thoughts?

Lots of Love,
Dal

Bye Bye Empties, April 2018

April brought with it some really interesting weather curves in Toronto. It started off looking like spring was around the corner but then it got really cold and we experienced a few snow storms! Luckily it’s over (hopefully) and it’s been gorgeous the last week. I have a few engagements and weddings to look forward to in May! I love springtime in the city and look forward to walking around a lot more.

I’m also on a mission to use up the skincare and makeup items I have in my collection that I have been purchasing or getting through my subscription boxes. I’ve put a stop to any Sephora or Beautyboutique shopping for the next few months unless it’s a much-needed item. A lot of items won’t be repurchased for a while as I use up what I have.

Skincare

ByeByeEmpties_April2018_LBL (3)

Volition Detoxifing Silt Gelee Mask. This clay mask has a gel-like feel so it clarifies and hydrates at the same time. It was pretty cool and I used this deluxe sample as a spot treatment over on my face about 4 times. I did like this a little more than other clay masks because it does moisturize my skin. I’m not sure if I would repurchase as I have so many clay masks to use up right now.

Laneige Multiberry Yogurt Repairing Mask. Talk about moisturizing the skin! I absolutely loved this mask sample. You are supposed to apply this mask after toner and leave on for 5-10 minutes before rinsing it with water and applying your moisturizer. I was using this wrong until almost the end. I was actually just using it as a moisturizer and applying a little pea size over my face after cleanser without rinsing it after. It felt pretty thick and when I realized it was a mask I figured out why but it was perfect for hydrating my skin. I would purchase a full size.

ByeByeEmpties_April2018_LBL (2)

South Mane Under Eye Gels. I got this in my March BoxyCharm and I was originally really excited about it. I did use this one time but it left my eyes with darker circles which I did not like. I have two more to test out but I don’t think I would purchase this.

Kit Anti-Aging Sheet Mask. I got this in my March Topbox and I used it right away. It has a cooling and gentle tingle effect. This has so much serum in it that I was able to use for days after I had used the mask. It made my skin feel really plump and hydrated and I enjoyed it. I would repurchase this.

Makeup

ByeByeEmpties_April2018_LBL (4)

Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil. This is the same pencil I purchased back in September 2016 when I shared my Benefit Brow Haul and it has lasted since then with regular use (granted I have used other brow items along the way). Although I liked the large brow applicator I’m actually tempted to try the Benefit Precisely, My Brow Ultra Fine Shape and Define. I loved this colour. I got 03 Medium and it worked really well on my brown brows.

Meet Matt(e) Hughes Deluxe Sample Liquid Lipstick in Committed. Although I loved this little sample and shared that in my Favourites From the boxes in April 2016 I’ve been holding on to this little guy for far too long so I’m going to toss it out.

Benefit Sugarbomb Lipgloss Deluxe Sample. I’m not sure how long I’ve had this lip gloss but I almost feel I’ve had this for over 3 years and hardly ever used it. I’m going to toss it and probably not going to repurchase this ever.

Colourpop Supershock Eyeshadow in Glow. I originally shared this in a haul back in September 2016. I used this quite a bit but I just found that the light colour hardly appeared on my eyes. I tried applying all over my lids, in the inner corners or on my brow bone but it I just felt that it didn’t do very much. I won’t be repurchasing this.

BodyCare

ByeByeEmpties_April2018_LBL (5)

Victoria’s Secret Secret Charm Honeysuckle & Jasmine Body Wash. I bought this a few years ago during the Victoria Secret semi-annual sale. This smelled nice but it left my skin feeling very dry so I would not repurchase this.

Tarte Brazilian Plus+ Self Tanner Deluxe Sample. I usually don’t wear too much self-tanner but over this last winter, I wanted to give myself a little glow. Based on the description this has natural exfoliators and moisturizers, it will give you a natural-looking, deep-toned tan in as little as four hours. All of that sounds really good to me! I have a tanning lotion from Vita Liberta that I bought last year that I’m going to use up next!

Nova Scotia Fisherman Lip Balm in Sea Salt & Caramel. I finally used up all of my Nova Scotia Fisherman lip balm! I absolutely love this brand and this product. It smells delicious and is amazing for moisturising the lips, especially in colder weather. You can read all my thoughts here.

ByeByeEmpties_April2018_LBL (6)

I tried a few samples from Sephora and Beautyboutique in April. I used the Lancer Eye Contour Cream about 4 times under the eyes and thought it was ok. I enjoyed the mousse-like texture of this. I won’t purchase a full size because it’s $120 CAD for 0.5 oz!

I tried two items from Dior and I wasn’t a fan of either of them so I wouldn’t get the full size. I was able to use the Dior Glow Better Jelly mask once and thought it was ok but it didn’t wow me especially for Dior pricing. You can’t see the product name but the second Dior product is the Dior Capture Totale Dreamskin Advanced, it’s a primer but it pilled so badly on me that I definitely could not wear makeup over it. I’m pretty disappointed with both of these items.

Dr Dennis Gross alpha beta glow pad for face just didn’t work for me. It irritated my skin a bit which hardly ever happens so I’m not going to purchase this.

I got three samples of the Filorga Sleep-Recover Anti-Fatigue night blam and I’m so happy I did because this is expensive. It helps moisturize my skin overnight and I feel like it is a good night mask that makes my skin feel bright in the morning.

So that’s all the items I used up for April! What items have you used up? What did you enjoy and what were you not a fan of?

Lots of Love,
Dal

Number of items: 4-5 full-size items

Boxycharm is a monthly subscription box of full-size makeup, skincare and beauty tools. The theme for this month is “Eye Candy”. I think it’s a really cute theme and there was an eyeshadow palette included in the box!

Colourpop Semi-Precious Eyeshadow Palette
Retail Price: $29.00 USD

UnboxingBoxyCharm_April 2018_LBL (9)

This is 8-pan shimmery shadow palette. I really like the range of colours in this palette and I think the pigmentation is great!

UnboxingBoxyCharm_April 2018_LBL (10)

I included some swatches below. Looking on the Boxycharm website, subscribers received one of five different colourpop eyeshadow palette. I look forward to using this in some eye looks.

Tarte Tartiest Pro Glow Liquid Highlighter in Exposed
Retail Price: $29.00 USD

UnboxingBoxyCharm_April 2018_LBL (7)

I don’t use too much liquid highlighter (if you’ve seen my project pan post, you understand my struggle to use up the Cover FX Liquid Highlighter sample!) I do like the shade of this highlighter and think it will work really well for my skin tone. I included a swatch below where you can see how glowy this appears. It has a few specks of sparkle but it’s not very noticeable and I really enjoyed how it looked on my shoulder so I might end up using it as a body highlight.

Dr. Brandt Pores No More Vacuum Cleaner
Retail Price: $47.00 USD

UnboxingBoxyCharm_April 2018_LBL (6)

The description of this mask says that it will unclog and tighten the look of pores. This is made for oily/combination skin, however, I would definitely use this in areas of my face that have clogged pores such us my nose area. I always enjoy receiving Dr. Brandt items. I feel like I’ve got quite a nice collection of their skincare line through BoxyCharm so I can really test the brand out.

The Brow Gal Instatint Tinted Eyebrow Gel
Retail Price: $22.00 USD

UnboxingBoxyCharm_April 2018_LBL (8)

This is a tinted eyebrow gel with microfibers that is meant to help achieve a natural hair look. My brows give me so much difficulty so I enjoy gels because they tend to hold my hairs in place. I received  this in the brown hair colour which should work on me. I didn’t want to open this because I have other brow products I’m using at the moment.

Adesse Hi-Definition Liquid Lipstick
Retail Price: $24.00 USD

UnboxingBoxyCharm_April 2018_LBL (5)

This didn’t have a shade name but based on my best guess from the website I think I got Haute Cocoa, which is a pretty deep nude colour. This is a sticky formula that is really shiny and thick. It has this chocolate candy scent which I love. I read a lot of positive reviews for this so I look forward to giving it a try!

My Thoughts

Once again BoxyCharm has sent a box of really great items. I look forward to using the Colourpop shadow palette. I’m also happy to have more Dr. Brandt items. All around this is a really awesome box. Total Value; $151.00 US ($194.45 CAD)!!

UnboxingBoxyCharm_April 2018_LBL (4)

I’ve been getting BoxyCharm for a year now and I must say that I think the subscription is really great. I use so many of the items and those that I don’t use make great gifts to friends and family. I’ve been tempted to invest in one more year of these boxes, but we will see I may just continue to get 3 months at a time.

Did you get BoxyCharm this month? What did you think of the items in this month’s box?

Project Pan: 18 for 2018 Update #1

The first three months of the year are done and I’m ready to share an update on my Project Pan! I’ve been trying to use all the items as often as I can and I’ve found that it makes getting ready in the morning before work a lot easier. I keep all the items for the project pan in one makeup bag and that bag has become my go-to for putting together quick looks when I really don’t want to fuss with digging through my makeup collection.

Project Pan_Update 1_LBL (23)

I will break down the items that have had the heaviest usage to the lowest. Not everything is brand new so if you want to know what I am working with take a read of my original post here.

Most Used Items (5-7 days a week)

These items were ones that I either enjoyed before the project pan or they are items I need to complete a makeup look so they get the most usage.

Project Pan_Update 1_LBL (1)

Physicians Formula Super BB Cream. I have not hit pan but the product has gone down and the imprint that was originally stamped on has faded.

Project Pan_Update 1_LBL (7)

Smashbox Covershot in Golden Hour. I’ve been taking a lot of the colours and doing one or two colour sweeps over the eye for my everyday look. Pans that get the heaviest use are the three lightest shimmer shades in the palette.
Was full, now 3/4 full

Project Pan_Update 1_LBL (4)

Yves Rocher Youthful Glow Powder in 100 Teint tres Clair. I used this powder every single time I used the Becca under eye brightening corrector to help prevent creasing and because that product is super sticky. Although I use it a lot I’ve only been able to get as far has to remove the company logo imprinted on the product.
Was full, now full but the print is gone!

Project Pan_Update 1_LBL (8)

Shiseido Synchro Skin Lasting Liquid Foundation. I can feel this is getting empty! I hope that by the summer update, this will be done!
Was 1/2 full, now 1/4 full

Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector. I use this every day but because I don’t need a lot it hasn’t really changed much. I’m finding that I don’t like this sticky formula so I know that after I’m completed the Project Pan I’m just going to toss this and never repurchase.
Was 3/4 full, now 2/3 full

Project Pan_Update 1_LBL (5)

Too Cool for School Dinoplatz Lip Balm in Spilled Wine. Another product I try to use often. I love this colour and formula so I tend to keep it in my purse for touch ups throughout the day.
Was 3/4 full, now 2/3 full

Project Pan_Update 1_LBL (9)

MAC Powder Blush in Fleur Power. I can kind of see this look like it’s getting some good use. The more I use this the more I fall in love with the colour and appreciate the formula. It looks so good on!
Was full, now 7/8 full

Medium Use Items (2-4 days a week)

Project Pan_Update 1_LBL (10)

These items were incorporated into my makeup routine as often as I could. Sometimes I would use them in place of the other items above.

Project Pan_Update 1_LBL (11)

Tarte Cosmetics Amazonian Clay in Exposed (deluxe sample) As much as I tried to use it I don’t see a difference in the pan. I don’t wear highlighter every day so this didn’t get used too much.
Was full, now full

Project Pan_Update 1_LBL (13)

Fresh Sugar Lip Polish (deluxe size) I used this whenever I was about to wear lipstick which isn’t often so this was barely used.
Was 3/4 full, now 2/3 full

Project Pan_Update 1_LBL (12)

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in 611 Yogurt.  I have started sharpening this to use up more product. Whenever I wasn’t wearing the Smashbox Covershot palette I would try to use this but I find that it creases really bad on me so I know I’m not repurchasing this after the Project Pan is over.
Was 3/4 full, now 3/4 full

Project Pan_Update 1_LBL (14)

Marc Jacobs Black Liner (deluxe size). I’m using this whenever I don’t do liquid eyeliner. I really don’t love this liner.
Was 1/2 full, now 1/3 full

Project Pan_Update 1_LBL (15)

Bite Beauty Multi-Stick in Almond (deluxe size) I use this for my lips and cheeks. It’s a really nice item.
Was full, now 3/4 full

Project Pan_Update 1_LBL (17)

Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Lipstick in 220 Powerful (deluxe size). Probably the only lipstick in my Project pan that I wear most often. The colour really compliments the makeup looks I have been coming up with.
Was 1/2 full, now 1/2 full

Project Pan_Update 1_LBL (16)

Least Used Items (0-1 days a week)

These items have been the hardest for me to incorporate into my routine on a weekly basis. I might use these a few times a month.

Project Pan_Update 1_LBL (19)

CoverFX Custom Enhancer Drops in Moonlight (deluxe sample) I used this maybe 4 times. It’s super intense. I’m going to try to start adding it to my foundation for a dewy look.
Was full, now 7/8 full

Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayon in Glace. I used this maybe twice. It’s a bit too cool for me but I’m trying to make it work with certain makeup looks or with a gloss on top because it’s very matte.
Was full, now full

Project Pan_Update 1_LBL (21)

Colourpop Lippie Pencil in Aquarius. I do wear this under certain lipsticks and I like the formula, I just don’t wear enough lipstick.
Was 3/4 full, now 2/3 full

Teeez Cosmetics Material Girl Lipstick in Hyped Taupe. I love, love this colour. It’s my second most used lipstick but again I don’t wear them often enough.
Was full, now 7/8 full

Project Pan_Update 1_LBL (18)

Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Melted Candy (deluxe size)  I never wore this and I think it’s old.
Was 1/2 full, now 1/2 full

Thoughts

Clearly, I’m not a lipstick person. Most of my lippies are in the Least Used category. Part of why I wanted to do this Project Pan was to use them more so that’s my challenge for the next three months. Everything else I’m happy with my progress.

Are you doing a Project Pan? What is your progress been so far?

Lots of Love,
Dal
