Makeup Eraser & ProCIV Reusable Pad Review

I received the Makeup Eraser in my Winter FabFitFun box. I had seen a lot of great reviews about this product so when I got it I was very excited to give it a try. Another item I had seen good reviews about that I wanted to share is the ProCIV Makeup Remover Pads from Amazon. I figured since they were both reusable cleansing products I would share my thoughts in one post.

Makeup Eraser

First, let’s talk about the Makeup Eraser (check it out here). I have only been using this for about a month and a half but it’s seriously become a staple product in my face cleansing routine. It has a long oval shape with soft fabric on both sides of the cloth. It’s large enough that I can use it 4-5 times before I need to wash it.

ReusableBeauty_LBL (4)

How I use this

I only need to use a small section of the cloth each time I use it so I mentally divide it into quarters and use each side on a different day. I might be able to use this a 5th or 6th time if I go back into the areas in between the quarters I did not use. I use this at the end of the day by dampening the cloth with warm water and gently rubbing it on my face. At first, I was worried I would tug at my skin too much but I’ve started to become comfortable with applying the right pressure to remove my makeup without tugging my face.

The cloth has different textures on each side. One side has short fibres for removing makeup and the other side has long ones for exfoliating.

ReusableBeauty_LBL (7)I use the short fibre side to remove all my makeup and cleanse my face and then flip to the other side to help exfoliate my skin to ensure everything is deeply cleansed. What’s great is that I don’t need to use any other products with this it does a good job on its own and I don’t have to rinse my face afterwards either.

Washing it

I don’t wash this between uses but I make sure that I hang it to completely dry so that it doesn’t start to smell. At the end of the week, I’ll just throw it into my washing machine with my other clothes and wash them all in a normal cycle. I then hang it to dry, I don’t put this in my dryer. I’ve machine washed this about 4 times now and the fibres and cloth have held up pretty well! Any dark makeup stains are completely lifted and the cloth itself remains soft and sturdy.

My Thoughts

I’ve been using this at the end of the day because it’s so quick and convenient for removing makeup. With there being dual sides, I can flip between the two fibre textures to cleanse my face and exfoliate it in one step. I might still use some makeup remover around my eyes if I’ve got a lot of makeup on around there but for the most part, it takes off all my other makeup with ease. I really enjoy this and extremely happy I received it in my FabFitFun box. You can find it at Sephora or on the Makeup Eraser website and I would highly recommend picking one up.

ProCIV Makeup Remover Pads

Another reusable item that I’ve been enjoying lately is the ProCIV Makeup Remover Pads I ordered from Amazon (check them out here). This came as a set of 16 and while there is an option to get all white pads, I went for the set with blue/green pads only because I know that white clothes tend to stain quicker for me when I use them to remove dark makeup such as eyeliner or mascara. There are a bunch of different sellers of similar products on Amazon but this one had high reviews so I figured I would try it.

ReusableBeauty_LBL (2)

How I use this

These are made with bamboo fabric which is soft. It has a double layer of thin fabric that’s been sewn together on the edge. It’s gentle by not flimsy. I would soak an area of the pads with micellar water and use one side of the pad to remove eyeliner and mascara and the other side to remove makeup on my face. These pads are great for removing face mask residue too.

What I personally like about the ProCIV Makeup Remover Pads is that they are large, about 3 inches in diameter. The pads are really large that I could easily use it to remove makeup from all over my face. I’m happy I chose a set that came in multiple colours because I could designate each colour for something different, ie blue cloth for eyes, green for face, white for nail polish removal etc. Currently, I’m only using this for my face but I could see how these could easily do everything I use my current cotton pads do.

ReusableBeauty_LBL (3)

Washing it

I keep the clean pads in a glass jar. I use one pad each day to remove my eye makeup and lipsticks/glosses. The set came with a draw-string mesh bag that I use to collect all the dirty pads into and then at the end of the week I throw the bag and its contents into the washing machine. After the wash, I’ve put these into the dryer and they come out great. The pads hold together well and I don’t see any changes in the fabric itself. They’ve gone through the washing machine a few times now since I’ve purchased them and they are still the same.

My thoughts

I’ll be honest. I was a bit skeptical about these pads because you can’t always trust the quality of the items you purchase from Amazon. I was nervous they might not be soft or would fall apart after a wash or two but they’ve been amazing so far! As much as I love my thick cotton pads that I purchase from Shiseido and Muji, I really wanted to make an effort, especially for 2020, to reduce my use of disposable one-time use items and go for reusable ones. These have completely replaced those cotton pads with ease. I would highly recommend them!

So there you have it! A little review of the Makeup Eraser and the ProCIV makeup Pads. Have you tried either of these products or something similar from other brands? What other reusable beauty products do you use?

Project Pan Monthly: October Roundup & November Items

This month I wanted to get this post out earlier than I did last month so that I could share with you what I plan on focusing on in my makeup stash! Then I totally got lazy for a week and here we are… late again… haha!

Looking at the before and after of some of my liquid items from October it really feels like I didn’t make much progress although I used my items 28/31 days. While I usually don’t wear makeup on the weekend I did find myself out and about a lot more in October so I did wear some makeup and used my Project Pan items. Let’s jump into my progress!

ProjectPanOctober2019_LBL1

But before we do that….

In case you didn’t know, this is my Project Pan objective;

Project Pan Monthly

Each month I choose 4 items to use, sharing reviews of those products if they aren’t already on the blog. At the end of the month, I’ll share an update of how well I did and then list the items for the next month. The products are chosen from these categories;

  • One Eyeshadow Palette
  • One Lip Item (lipstick, lip balm, gloss, etc.)
  • One Face Item (foundation, highlighter, blush, bronzer)
  • One Random Item (can be another item from the categories above, or be something else like mascara, liner, skincare, body care, fragrance, etc.)

October Round-Up

One thing I love about focusing on specific items in my collection is that I can judge how much I actually like them. When I bought my Smashbox Minimalist Cover Shot Palette I was sure I would use this a lot, however, I realize after having this in my Project Pan I realize I don’t love the colours in this palette. One side is neutral, the other is cool. I leaned towards using neutral brown tones because the grey tones were not appealing to me.

ProjectPanOctober2019_LBL2

My Guerlain lip balm remained in my purse and I continued to use it frequently throughout the month. I like this lip balm and I think that I am going to go back and purchase more shades. It’s the only lip item I’ve enjoyed in this whole Project Pan series. Granted the before and after doesn’t show much has been used up believe me when I say that I used this quite a lot.

ProjectPanOctober2019_LBL3

At the beginning of October, I used the Becca Backlight Primer pretty often but after about a week I stopped using it and then that was that. It was just another step in my morning routine that I was too lazy to do.

I used my Maybelline Concealer every time I wore makeup, however, you wouldn’t guess based on the photo above that it was ever used. I do want to just use this up so I am avoiding using my other concealers for now that I finish this up. Maybe it’ll make it onto an empties post in a few months!

My November Items

For this month I chose;

  • One Eyeshadow Palette  – Dose of Colors Eyeshadow Palette in Baked Browns
  • One Lip Item – Urban Decay Lipstick In Sheer Liar
  • One Face Item – Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit – Volume 4 (reviewed here)
  • One Random Item – CoverFX Custom Enhancer Drops in Moonlight (reviewed here)

I love how I chose items will all chrome packaging! It’s so aesthetically pleasing.

ProjectPanOctober2019_LBL4

I’m really excited about the items I’ve picked for this month. I’m enjoying the eyeshadow so far – lookout for a review coming soon! I’m also very much in love with the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Palette so I’m excited to use it. Now is also the best time to try to use up the CoverFX drops. I’ve had this mini bottle for such a long time now and it was in last year’s Project Pan so I’m really hoping I use up more of it.

How is your progress been for Project Pan this month? What are you hoping to use up for November?

Lots of Love,
Dal

Violet Voss Essentials Eyeshadow Palette
MSRP: $29.00 US

20190915_150721

This palette was designed for everyday use in a stunning mix of warm and cool-toned shades. I like the range of shades and colours in this palette and I think you’d be able to create a variety of different looks.

20190915_150754

Even though I have a lot of eye shadows I think this one is definitely unique to what I have. I like that there are everyday shades like cream and dusty rose but also fun colours like plum berry and gold. This would be a great palette for travel.

Dr. Brandr Hydro Biotic Recovery Sleeping Mask
MSRP: $52.00 US

20190915_150955

Oh, how I love a good hydrating mask! I’m really looking forward to having this around especially during the upcoming wintertime. This mask locks in moisture overnight to reduce redness and soothe the signs of irritation.

Moda Pro By Royal & Langnickle 5 Piece Eye Kit
MSRP: $27.95 US

20190915_151048

I am so happy that I received this set in Boxycharm. I received a crease brush from this collection in a previous BoxyCharm that I enjoyed and even reviewed on the blog. You can read my thoughts here.

20190915_151205

These brushes are so soft and the quality is super good, especially for the price. I should check out their website to see what other items they offer. The brushes I received are perfect for creating a multitude of eye looks. I’m most excited for the smudger and crease brush since these are the type I use the most.

Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator
MSRP: $26.00 US

20190915_151019

What a beautiful highlight. Not only does this look so nice in the pan but it swatches like a dream. I’m really excited to start playing with this. The illuminator has a hybrid texture that applies like a powder but feels like a cream. It creates a translucent wash of colour that can be swept all over the face for a lit-from-within glow.

MAC Frost Lipstick in CB 96
MSRP: $18.50 US

20190915_150840

This formula features smooth, medium buildable coverage, high pearl and a semi-lustrous finish. (Boxycharm.com)

Well, you’re telling me! In the tube this looks like a high frost orange but when I swatched it I got more of a peachy or pinky feel. This is such a gorgeous lipstick but I just know that I’m never going to wear it so I actually passed this on to my mom who was absolutely going to enjoy it more than I will.

My Thoughts

I was starting to get a bit bored with BoxyCharm but this box really hit it out of the park for me. I got a palette with colours I’m excited to use, an over night mask I need for winter, brushes I’m going to use regularly and an illuminator that I think is beautiful to wear as highlight! The only item I didn’t care for was the lipstick which I easily passed on to someone else. I’m super happy with this box and everything in it!

Total Value: $153.45 US ($203.05)

Did you get BoxyCharm this month? What did you get in your box and what are your thoughts?

Lots of Love,

Project Pan Monthly: August Roundup & September Items

This post is going up later than my usual schedule. I have been using my September Items since the beginning of the month but I’ve finally gotten around to posting it.

For August I was again on the minimal makeup train. I really don’t like piling a lot of makeup on when it was super hot outside. I also feel like generally, I want to wear less and less makeup, especially foundation. I have recently started wearing BB Creams again. You’ll see below that I added a BB Cream to my September Project Pan.  I did enjoy using my colourful eyeshadows though, so I’m going to continue to incorporate that. I think by the end of August I had used my products about 23/30 days.

In case you didn’t know, this is my Project Pan objective;

Project Pan Monthly

Each month I choose 4 items to use, sharing reviews of those products if they aren’t already on the blog. At the end of the month, I’ll share an update of how well I did and then list the items for the next month. The products are chosen from these categories;

  • One Eyeshadow Palette
  • One Lip Item (lipstick, lip balm, gloss, etc.)
  • One Face Item (foundation, highlighter, blush, bronzer)
  • One Random Item (can be another item from the categories above, or be something else like mascara, liner, skincare, body care, fragrance, etc.)]

August Roundup

ProjectPanSeptember2019_LBL (3)

Starting with the eyeshadow palette, I used my Smashbox Cover shot Palette during the week for fun one sweep eyeshadows for work. I loved using the shades on the right-hand quad because it has the golden and orange colours which worked a lot with the outfits I wore in August.

The orange blush got good use at the beginning of summer when I was really into wearing warm colours and I was wearing warmer bronzer. Towards the end of August though I started wanted to wear cool pink blushes that I have instead so this didn’t get as much use as I was hoping.

ProjectPanSeptember2019_LBL (4)

I was pretty consistent with wearing my Yves Rocher Foundation in August because I would mix it with my bb cream to sheer it out to make it lighter coverage. The shade was just right for my summer skin and I really love this formula. I was able to use about a quarter of the bottle which I think is great progress.

Lastly, although I didn’t use my Laritzy Lip Crayon as often, I still really enjoyed it whenever I did wear it. This felt more like a balm which made it very comfortable to wear. I, unfortunately, kept forgetting to put it in my purse so I would remember to reapply it during the day but if I did I’m sure I would have used up more of it.

My September  Items

This month I’ve chosen;

  • One Eyeshadow Palette – Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes (reviewed here)
  • One Lip Item – Guerlain Hydrating & Plumping Lip Balm
  • One Face Item – Garnier SkinActive BB Cream 5 in 1
  • One Random Item – Nest Cocoa Wood Eau De Parfum

ProjectPanSeptember2019_LBL (6)

This month, I’m going to be focusing on pinks and peaches since I just feel like continuing the colour train from last month. It has been a while since I’ve used my Just Peachy Mattes Palette but I think it’ll really work with Fall vibes.  Since I’ve was mixing my foundation with this BB CReam anyways I thought I’d focus on my Garnier SkinActive BB Cream. I received it at a beauty event thrown by ChichAdvisor and I’ve been enjoying it ever since.

I’m also going to be heading back to lip balms for September. I was tempted to pick a warm nude or brown shade for Autumn, but I figured that the season hasn’t justed just yet so I wanted to give my brighter shades one last go. Plus, it’s a balm so it’s very comfortable to wear. Lastly, I added perfume to my Project Pan. This one from Nest came as a set that I received on my birthday. I decided I would start wearing it more often since I loved this scent.

How is your progress been for Project Pan this month? What are you hoping to use up for September?

Lots of Love,
Dal

Review, Vasanti Cosmetics Brighten Up! Exfoliator

A few weeks ago I shared a review of the First Aid Beauty cleanser that I have been enjoying as my gentle daily cleanser. You can read it here. I mentioned that every few days or so I also use an exfoliating cleanser for a deep cleanse and today I’m going to be sharing that review. Currently, I’ve been using Vasanti Cosmetics Brighten-Up Exfoliator.

VasantiBrightenUpReview_LBL (1)

Vasanti Cosmetics reached out to me back in April to try out their Vasanti Brighten-Up Trio and I was very excited to test them out. I had used other items from Vasanti before and I’m always happy to support Canadian brands. I’ve been using the product ever since receiving them two months ago.

What It Is

An exfoliator with micro-crystals. This papaya and aloe enriched exfoliator will remove dead skin, reveal a radiant complexion and fight common skin concerns like dull skin, dark spots, acne scars, wrinkles & more. (vasanticosmetics.com)

Price

$29.00 CAD (70g) I use a very small pea-sized amount of this product so I think it’ll last me a while.

VasantiBrightenUpReview_LBL (6)

Application

I took this on vacation with me to use with the moisturizer and serum booster (more on them in a little bit). I still used an everyday cleanser but every third evening or so I would use this to wash my face. I lathered a pea-sized amount between my hands and gently massaged this over my face. Since this has micro crystals I always ensured that I was gently applying this. I also found that the more water I used to dilute the product the better it worked on my skin. More water helped to loosen the formula and convert the dense cleanser into a soft and liquid cream which helped glide the crystals over my face.

The texture of the crystals is very fine and sand like but if you aren’t careful I can definitely imagine it irritating the skin because the crystals are very gritty. This is also why I used it every few days rather than every day. I have always loved physical exfoliators but if you don’t then this product is definitely not for you. I also don’t think it would be good for sensitive skin. I don’t have sensitive skin, but I was still very careful with how I applied this product. Since I mostly use physical exfoliating cleansers, it’s how I’ve always been with those types of products.

I mostly focused around my nose since that’s where I find my skin needs the most attention. I would then massage this over my forehead and chin and spread whatever remained over my cheeks. I find that starting from the middle of my face and moving outwards is the best cleansing method for me.

VasantiBrightenUpReview_LBL (2)

Since this is a physical exfoliant, I always made sure I thoroughly rinsed my skin. Nothing is worse than putting on moisturizer with leftover crystals (ouch!). After rinsing my skin I applied the Boosting Serum and then the Moisturizer.

After a couple weeks, I started to notice a difference in my skin. It wasn’t as dull and looked a lot more clear. My nose area especially was clear. I usually have a hard time reducing the appearance of blackheads on my nose, but this really helped to diminish their appearance. My skin felt really soft and I found that it was much smoother. I hardly break out in the first place but it just felt like my skin was looking a lot more vibrant.

Glow-Boosting Serum and Amplify Moisturizer

While using the Brighten-Up Exfoliator I also made sure that I was testing out the Glow-Boosting Serum and Amplify Moisturizer, all are part of the Brighten-Up line. I think that the combination of the three really made a difference on my skin so I wanted to talk about them as well as they are part of my skin care routine.

Glow-Boosting Serum

VasantiBrightenUpReview_LBL (3)

The serum is supposed to help give you glowy skin. After cleansing, I would shake the bottle to the oil and serum together and place one or two drops on my hands and massage it over my skin.  It has Arbutin which has anti-oxidant and anti-ageing ingredients to help reduce dark spots and shadows. It also has Abyssinian oil to hydrate the skin and aloe vera to soothe the skin. For my dry skin, this serum is a dream because it’s pretty moisturizing. Sometimes I just wear this and it’s enough for me. Serums that I’ve used in the past can be more gel-like so they quickly dry onto my skin but I don’t feel like they do much. This guy, however, leaves me feeling moisturized all day. It’s a pretty thick serum.

Amplify Moisturizer

VasantiBrightenUpReview_LBL (4)

I really like this as an everyday moisturizer and I use it with both my everyday cleanser as well as the Vasanti Exfoliator. This is infused with aloe, vitamin C, and arbutin from bearberry leaves to keep your skin hydrated and protected. It’s very light-weight too which is why I enjoy this for every day. Even during the day if my skin is feeling extra dry I will apply this to re-hydrate it. Since it’s really thin I don’t feel like I’m wearing a lot of products if I then add my sunscreen over it. It works very well on top of the Glow-Boosting Serum, so I do enjoy wearing these two products together.

My Thoughts

Since I love physical exfoliators I know that I’m probably going to repurchase this product myself when the time comes. I feel like I see a difference in my skin and I like that this has been working really well for me.

Have you tried this product? Do you use physical exfoliators?

Lots of Love,
Dal

Project Pan Monthly: June Roundup & July Items

Another month, another monthly project pan to discuss on the blog today! I feel like I was consistent with all my products in June not just with one or two of them as I find I have been the last few months. I even got good use out of my lip product which I’m so happy about. I break down my usage below, but I used my products about 27/30 days!

ProjectPanMonthlyJune_LBL (1)

In case you didn’t know, this is my Project Pan objective;

Project Pan Monthly

Each month I choose 4 items to use, sharing reviews of those products if they aren’t already on the blog. At the end of the month, I’ll share an update of how well I did and then list the items for the next month. The products are chosen from these categories;

  • One Eyeshadow Palette
  • One Lip Item (lipstick, lip balm, gloss, etc.)
  • One Face Item (foundation, highlighter, blush, bronzer)
  • One Random Item (can be another item from the categories above, or be something else like a mascara, liner, skin care, body care, fragrance, etc.)

June Round-Up

ProjectPanMonthlyJune_LBL (3)

Starting with the eye products I chose for June. In the warmer months, I love keeping my makeup really simple and quick and the Lid Lingerie and Jumbo Eye Pencils from NYX were perfect for that. I would usually just pick one colour and sweep it over the lid, add a black or brown eyeliner, mascara and then be out the door. They lasted really long on me too which is great during a hot day. I rediscovered how much I love these products and got really good use out of them this month.

ProjectPanMonthlyJune_LBL (2)

For June, I opted to use this IBY Contour and Highlight Palette because it had been a while since I used it. I did share this in one of the Favourites from the Boxes Post but since then I stored it in my makeup box and only used it once in a while so it felt really good to bring this palette back out and use it again. You can tell that the pans are still full which is just because this is pretty pigmented and I didn’t need a lot to highlight or contour my face. I also used these as eye shadow which was great for days I wanted a more matte look. I used this every single time I wore makeup in June which is pretty awesome.

ProjectPanMonthlyJune_LBL (4)

You can’t really tell that any of this VS Body spray was used, but I have made it up to where it says “love me” on the packaging. I sprayed 3-4 sprits every morning during June and I think I brought the bottle down about 10-15 mL. Perfumes and body sprays do take a bit longer to use up, but I’ll continue to use this and hopefully re-introduce it another month in my Project Pan this year.

ProjectPanMonthlyJune_LBL (10)

The biggest surprise to me is how often I ended up using the Sexy Mother Pucker Pillow Plump XXL Lip Plumping Gloss! I actually used this everyday, and sometimes a few times a day! You can’t tell because, but I think I got through 1/4 of the product! I had no idea I would enjoy plumping lip gloss as much as I did. I kept this in my purse and used it a lot! I really like it.

My July Items

This month I’ve chosen;

  • One Eyeshadow Palette – Nudestix Jetsetter Nude(Art)ist Box Eye Crayons (reviewed here)
  • One Lip Item – Jetsetter Nude(Art)ist Box Lip Crayons & Dirty Little Secret Lip Pencil
  • One Face Item – Clinique Perfectly Real Compact Makeup Powder
  • One Random Item – Using the Jetsetter Box as a highlight, eyeliner and blush

ProjectPanMonthlyJune_LBL (6)

This month I wanted to do something a little different. Since my Jetsetter Palette is full of items that I can create a full-face with I figured I would focus on using it. I also wanted to continue my theme of cream makeup since I enjoy wearing that more in the summer months.

ProjectPanMonthlyJune_LBL (7)

I’ve raved about Nudestix before, whether on my Instagram or here on the blog so I figured I would dedicate a month to using their products. Instead of an eyeshadow palette, I’m going to use the above eyesticks to create eye looks with. Plus, as part of my random item, I can use Gilt as a highlighter on my cheeks.

ProjectPanMonthlyJune_LBL (8)

I’m going to attempt to incorporate three lip items this month into my Project Pan Monthly. I found myself using lip liner a lot the last time I included it in a project pan so I’ve got a new one for this month. I can also use the Lip crayons from Nudestix on my cheeks, I hope I can get more use out of them by doing that.

ProjectPanMonthlyJune_LBL (9)

The last item I’m including in my Project Pan is this Powder from Clinique. I think they’ve since updated the packaging, so this is clearly in need of some good usage. Now, I usually keep my dry skin away from powders but with July generally hot and humid I think it’s the perfect time to use this on my face. I wore this the other day I really enjoyed how it looked on my face and how long it lasted.

How is your progress been for Project Pan this month? Have you noticed a difference in your products?

Lots of Love,
Dal

Tarte Cosmetics Be You Naturally Eyeshadow Palette
MSRP: $36.00 US

BoxyCharmJune2019_LBL2

You can never go wrong with a palette in my books. Whether I use them myself or give them away as gifts a new palette is always exciting for me to recieve. I enjoy Tarte palettes, I own quite a few in my collection so I’m excited to recieve another one in my box. This has that same delicious vanilla scent that my Tartelette In Bloom palette so I’m really hoping the formula is the same because I love that palette.

BoxyCharmJune2019_LBL3

Although this is a neutral palette I love the layout and colours in this palette. This has 4 shimmer shades and 4 mattes.

Touch In Sol No Poreblem Prime Essence
MSRP: $23.00 US

BoxyCharmJune2019_LBL5

I thought this was a primer to wear before makeup but reading the packaging you can use it as the last step of your skincare routine. It’s infused with Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract to tighten pores and keep your skin smooth. I received The Touch In Sol No Poreblem Primer and I absolutely love it so I’m excited to try another product in this line. The essence will come in handy during the summer heat.

Dominque Cosmetics Lemonade Lipgloss in Pink Lemonade
MSRP: $17.00 US

BoxyCharmJune2019_LBL7

This lip gloss is supposed to add hydration, shine and fullness to your lips. I’m not sure I’m into this colour but if it is hydrating I will give it a try. A lot of reviews on BoxyCharm website have been positive so I hope it’s got a nice formula.

St. Tropez Self Tan Classic Bronzing Mousse
MSRP: $24.50 US

BoxyCharmJune2019_LBL4

I have a couple of these little St. Tropez Self Tanning Mousse so I really didn’t care to get another one. Not to say that this is a bad product but I have enough self-tanners in my collection. I appreciate that it came with a mitt which is super helpful for application. I might pass this along to a friend.

Dirty Little Secret Lip Liner in Rosie Posie
MSRP: $15.00 US

BoxyCharmJune2019_LBL6

I find that I prefer to wear lipliner with a gloss or balm on top vs a lipstick or colourful gloss so I’m pretty happy to have a lip liner in my collection. I already started wearing this item and I think it’s great! It has a dark nude colour which looks really nice with my bronze eyeshadow. The formula is dry but still smooth over the lips. It’s the kind I prefer for this kind of lip liner.

My Thoughts

I’m pretty happy with this month’s box. It really aligns with the theme and I’m very excited about a lot of the items, especially the Tarte eyeshadow palette and the DLS lip liner. I’m also really curious about the Touch In Sol primer essence. We will see how well that works on my skin.

Total Value: $115.50 US ($152.40 CAD)

Did you get BoxyCharm this month? What was in your box? What did you enjoy or not?

Review: First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser

I keep two types of cleansers on my vanity. One is always a gentle, every day type cleanser. The other is a gritty, exfoliating deep cleansing one. Throughout the week I’ll switch through them. Most days I use a gentle cleanser and then I’ll use my exfoliating cleanser a few times a week inbetween. Then, on lazy days I just use micellar water or a makeup wipe and call it a day! Hehe!

If you wanted to read my makeup remover post you can here.

Next week I’ll share a review of my Vasanti Cosmetics Exfoliating Cleanser but today I wanted to share a review of the gentle cleanser I’ve been enjoying. My First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser.

$14.00 CAD (2oz). This is pretty reasonably priced especially since you need very little when washing your face. A pea-sized amount is enough for me.

Application

This is a very creamy cleanser that doesn’t foam up too much. The texture reminds me of Origin’s Checks & Balances cleanser because it’s a thicker consistency. Whenever I use it I find that it feels more like cleanser/moisturizer hybrid. It feels very good.

FirstAidBeautyReview_LBL (4)

I think it’s super effective at removing makeup. Like, really effective. It might be one of the best makeup removing cleansers I’ve ever tried. It’s very gentle and doesn’t sting my eyes which makes it a dream for removing makeup around my eyes and lashes which is where I tend to wear the heaviest makeup. Even if a little gets in my eyes, it won’t sting them like other cleansers have in the past. It leaves my skin feeling super clean, when I rinse it off. I dry my face with a white towel and a rarely get makeup residue on it. I don’t even need to use a makeup wipe before or after, it’s really good on its own.

My skin always feels really clean, but unlike a harsh cleanser, it still leaves it feeling supple. I find that my skin just feels good and clear and I usually just apply a serum or moisturizer afterwards and call it a day.

My Thoughts

I’ve tried sample packets of this cleanser and liked it but this is my first time using a whole tube of it consistently over the last few weeks. Generally, my skin doesn’t feel tight or dry and it hasn’t been irritated by this product. It’s very good. I would wholeheartedly recommend this! If you are looking for a good every day, gentle cleanser, this is the one!

Have you tried the First Aid Beauty Cleanser? What are your thoughts? Have you tried anything else from this brand?

Unboxing BoxyCharm, March 2019

Price: $21.00 USD (+$5.00 shipping to Canada)
Number of items: 4-5 full-size items

Boxycharm is a monthly subscription box of full-size makeup, skincare and beauty tools. The theme for this month is “’la vie en rose”.

BoxyCharmMarch2019_LBL3

I think it’s a cute theme for spring and a lot of the items has rose gold packaging.

PRICES ARE IN USD, CONVERTED TO CAD AT THE END

CoverFX Perfector Face Palette
MSRP: $45.00 USD

BoxyCharmMarch2019_LBL10

I am loving the layout and colours in this face palette. It fits with my style and I like the colours in it. I like CoverFX products so I’m pretty excited to try this formula. The highlights are beautiful and the blush is a pretty pink that I would wear everyday.

BoxyCharmMarch2019_LBL11

The packaging feels very sturdy so I suspect it would be great for travel. The nice thing about taking this on the go is that you will have everything you need for the face in one place. I personally would even use the contour and bronze shade on my eyes.

Wander Beauty Lift off Purifying and Brightening Pell Off Mask
MSRP: $34.00 USD

BoxyCharmMarch2019_LBL6

This mask contains acai, goji berry, blueberry, lychee, mangosteen, kaolin clay and green tea extract all which are great items for the skin. I haven’t used a peel-off mask in a while but I am interested in trying one to purify and replenish my skin. What makes this mask interesting is that it is rose gold.

MODA Brushes Powder and Soft Glow Kit
MSRP: $29.99 USD

BoxyCharmMarch2019_LBL8

This is a 2-piece powder and highlight brush. They are really soft and fluffy brushes. I like the style of the brush handles too, the rose gold and tapered style makes them easy to hold and really fancy.

BoxyCharmMarch2019_LBL9

I have brushes that are similar so I might save them as a gift for a friend but I think they are fantastic brushes.

Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick
MSRP: $20.00 USD

BoxyCharmMarch2019_LBL5

These liquid lipsticks are creamy and soft in texture and are meant to be long-lasting and full colour. This colour is really pretty but it’s darker from what I would usually like to wear so I think I might save this for a friend who likes darker shades.

Manna Kadar Bloom Mascara
MSRP: $29.00 USD

BoxyCharmMarch2019_LBL7

I find it’s interesting that I’ve been receiving a lot of Manna Kadar products through my subscription boxes. They may have a marketing initiative to get more and more people to discover and test their products so they’ve decided to send a bunch to subscription box companies to increase their reach. This mascara looks really interesting. I mean the packaging is really cool, but it’s also formulated with a built-in primer. I didn’t open the packaging but if you are interested in what the brush looks like you can check out their website here. The brush is very interesting with long and short bristles which are supposed to ensure easy application without leaving any clumps.

My Thoughts

This is a really good box! I’m really excited to try the CoverFX palette because I generally like items that I’ve tried from this brand and the face palette looks so good. I’m also looking forward to testing out the mascara and peel-off mask.

Total Value: $157.99 USD ($212.44 CAD)

Did you get BoxyCharm this month? What was in your box?

Project Pan Monthly: March 2019 & February Update

For the most part, I was really consistant about using my February products whenever I wore makeup. Towards the end of the month though, I wore the palette a little less because I was so excited about using my Nudestix sets (review is coming soon!) and of course, I was using my lip item less and less. All together I used my items 17 of 28 days in February.

In case you didn’t know, this is my Project Pan objective;

Project Pan Monthly

Each month I chose 4 items to use, sharing reviews of those products if they aren’t already on the blog. At the end of the month, I’ll share an update of how well I did and then list the items for the next month. The products are chosen from these categories;

  • One Eyeshadow Palette
  • One Lip Item (lipstick, lip balm, gloss, etc.)
  • One Face Item (foundation, highlighter, blush, bronzer)
  • One Random Item (can be another item from the categories above, or be something else like a mascara, liner, skin care, body care, fragrance, etc.)

February Progress

Alamar Cosmetics Reina Del Caribe Vol. 1 (reviewed here) I mostly stuck to using more of the warm-toned shades in this palette because they were easier to put together for everyday looks that I would wear to work.

ProjectPanMonthlyMarch_LBL.jpg

I used coco-taxi the most of this whole palette and loved it with a bare lid and just a touch of that orange in the crease. When I wanted to go a bit more bold I would wear Tropico and Guantanamera on the outter edge of my lid and cafecito as a liner. The shade that I gravitated to every once in a while was La Costa, which looked so gorgeous swiped across the lid with some liner. You can see a few dents where I used the shade, which I’m really happy about.

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in Sheer Liar. I wore this almost everytime I did my makeup the first two weeks of February.

ProjectPanMonthlyMarch_LBL (7)

However, I started lacking because I needed to switch to lip balm as my lips started to feel dry due to the cold weather so I didn’t get much use out of this lip stick in the end. But I do like the colour, so I might introduce it back into another project pan at a later time.

Wet n Wild MegaGlo Highlighting Powder in Blossom Glow (reviewed here). I love this highlighter and used it quite a lot this month, but I’m surprised that you can’t really tell.

ProjectPanMonthlyMarch_LBL (4)

I mean, if you owned one of these highlights you’ll know that a little goes a long way so I’m not surprised that it barely looks touched. You can see that the beautiful flower print is slightly starting to wear off.

Daisy by Marc Jacobs PerEstfume (reviewed here). Another item that I was using a lot in the beginning of the month, and then for some reason just started using it less often.

ProjectPanMonthlyMarch_LBL (8)

I loooovveeee this scent! I must subconsciously not want to waste it all, haha!

My March Items

This month I’ve chosen;

ProjectPanMonthlyMarch_LBL (9)

  • One Eyeshadow Palette – Morphe The Jacklyn Hill Palette
  • One Lip Item – Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick in Watermelon
  • One Face Item – Ciate London Bamboo Bronzer
  • One Random Item – Estee Lauder Double Wear Nude Water Fresh Makeup (reviewed here)

ProjectPanMonthlyMarch_LBL (10)

I wanted to include some items that I haven’t reviewed yet on the blog. I’ve had the Jacklyn Hill Palette for some time now and I really wanted to focus a mont on using it and sharing a review for it.

ProjectPanMonthlyMarch_LBL (2)

I was hoping to try to use up my Ciate Bronzer Sample since it’s starting to look like I might hit pan!

Let me know how your project pan is coming along whether you are doing one each month like I am or doing a year-long project pan.

Lots of Love,
Dal
