Unboxing BoxyCharm, April 2019

Price: $21.00 USD (+$5.00 shipping to Canada)
Number of items: 4-5 full-size items

Boxycharm is a monthly subscription box of full-size makeup, skincare and beauty tools. The theme for this month is “Peace, Love & Boxy”. The theme is very in-line with Coachella and summer festivals.

PRICES ARE IN USD, CONVERTED TO CAD AT THE END

PUR Cosmetics Complexion Authority Festival Palette
MSRP: $36.00 US

BoxyCharmApril2019_LBL (2)

This is a limited edition 12 pan pressed pigment palette. It’s full of really pretty colours and although I would totally use this myself because I like the PUR formula I’m going to save this to gift to someone else. I’ve included a photo from the PUR website of all the shades in the palette.

BoxyCharmApril2019_LBL (10)

The palette is cruelty-free and is infused with skin-loving ingredients such as ginseng, green tea and vitamin B.

Luxie The Summer Daze 3 pc Brush Set
MSRP: $28.00 US

BoxyCharmApril2019_LBL (3)

I love the packaging these brushes came in and I also like how the barrel is a bright pink that fades into a gold. From top to bottom in my photo above, the 512 small contouring brush is to sculpt and define your cheekbones (I actually thought this might work well as a blush brush), the 245 small shader brush to brush on shadow, and the 209 large shader brush to pat on and blend out an eye look. I always enjoy receiving new brushes!

Artist Couture Diamond Glow Powder in Purple Dream
MSRP: $27.00 US

BoxyCharmApril2019_LBL (8)

This is an all-natural, vegan and cruelty-free powder. When I read the shade name I was worried it was actually going to be purple but it’s a pretty peach with a slight purple shift.

BoxyCharmApril2019_LBL (9)

I didn’t want to open this because loose powder can be messy but you can see through the packaging the peachy-purple glow.

Appeal Cosmetics Holographic Lip Gloss
MSRP: $21.00 US

BoxyCharmApril2019_LBL (5)

I’m not the biggest fan of glitter lip gloss so I wasn’t the most excited to receive this. I will pass this along to a friend that I think will like it. This gloss works well on its own or on top of another lipstick.

Bodyography Eye Pencil in Bali Bronze
MSRP: $14.00 US

BoxyCharmApril2019_LBL (6)

I am soooo happy I received this in my box. The formula is really creamy and glides on seamlessly. I love the shade and think it will look really nice for the summer when I want to wear something that is less intense. This can be worn as liner or smudge to create a smokey eye look.

My Thoughts

All in all, this is a really good box. A few of the items will be saved as gifts for friends and family which is great because I love having items at the ready for gifts. I am excited to use the eye pencil and the brush set.

Total Value: $126.00 US ($168.28 CAD)

Did you get BoxyCharm this month? What is in your box?

Lots of Love,

Project Pan Monthly: April 2019 & March Update

I found it really easy to use up a lot of my Project Pan items in March. I think it’s mostly because I picked products that I really enjoy using. In total, I used the items in my Project Pan 22/31 days.

In case you didn’t know, this is my Project Pan objective;

Project Pan Monthly

Each month I chose 4 items to use, sharing reviews of those products if they aren’t already on the blog. At the end of the month, I’ll share an update of how well I did and then list the items for the next month. The products are chosen from these categories;

  • One Eyeshadow Palette
  • One Lip Item (lipstick, lip balm, gloss, etc.)
  • One Face Item (foundation, highlighter, blush, bronzer)
  • One Random Item (can be another item from the categories above, or be something else like a mascara, liner, skin care, body care, fragrance, etc.)

March Progress

Jacklyn Hill x Morphe Palette (reviewed here). I really enjoyed wearing this palette because I had a lot of colours to choose from. I would use a matte skin colour from my Tarte Palette over my eyes but everything else I used only this palette. I’ve highlighted the colours I used most often in the photo below. I have little dents in those pans which I’m pretty excited about!

ProjectPanMonthly_April_LBL (4).jpg

Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick in Watermelon. I kept this in my coat pocket to encourage myself to wear this more often. I think I used it about 10 days out of the month which is pretty good for me. I like the bright colour and thought it really complimented a lot of the eye looks I created in March. I don’t think I made too much of a dent in this.

ProjectPanMonthly_April_LBL (2)

Estee Lauder Double Wear Nude Water Fresh Makeup (reviewed here). I got through about 1/3rd of this foundation which isn’t bad. This is a staple item that I used everytime I wore makeup so it was easy to use up a decent amount this month. It’s a foundation that I like but am not completely in love with, so I’m happy that I’ve been using it up. I kind of want to use it up and clear it from my stash!

ProjectPanMonthly_April_LBL (3)

Ciate London Bamboo Bronzer (reviewed here). Now this is a product I made some progress with! I actually hit pan! woohoo! I wore this every single time I put on makeup so I feel like it was really easy to get good use out of it. Plus, bronzer is a product I use all over my face, down my neck and chest so it’s not hard to use it up.

My April Items

ProjectPanMonthly_April_LBL (5)

This month I’ve chosen;

  • One Eyeshadow Palette – Tarte Tartelette In Bloom Palette (reviewed here)
  • One Lip Item – Bite Beauty Lip Pencil in 020 Beige Nude
  • One Face Item – Ciate London Bamboo Bronzer (reviewed here)
  • One Random Item – Shiseido Ibuki Smart Filtering Smoother

ProjectPanMonthly_April_LBL (6)

I figured I would keep my Ciate Bronzer in the Project Pan for April in hopes I can use up more of the product and maybe completely use it up.

I also wanted to try using up a lip liner this month and see if I’m more consistant with that compared to lipstick. So far, I feel like it’s something I’m reaching for when I apply makeup. Here’s hoping I get to a point where I need to sharpen the Bite lip liner a few times.

ProjectPanMonthly_April_LBL (8)

The Shiseido Ibuki Smoother is an interesting product because it’s more like a primer you put on after your makeup. I hardly use this product so I’m hoping I can use it up during this project pan month.

How is your progress been for Project Pan this month? Have you noticed a difference in your products?

Lots of Love,
Dal

Bronze it Up! My Current Bronzer Collection

I love wearing bronzers to give dimension and glow to my face. I was going through my collection and noticed I had four in my current rotation. I thought I’d go through some of the bronzers, especially since I have one of them in my Project Pan for March.

Physicians Formula Super BB Instaready Bronzer

BronzerCollectionLBL2

I picked this up at GenBeauty 3 years ago and the bronzer is still going strong! This was part of my Project Pan in 2018 which you can read the round-up of here. I did hit pan with this item but it’s so dry that it ended up crumbling and I had to press it back together, hence the pan looking quite bumpy.

BronzerCollectionLBL3

I like this bronzer because it gives a really sutble hint of colour. Just enough that it’s noticeable on my skin, which is great because when I’m in a rush out the door I don’t have to worry about blending it out too much. If I wear contour, I tend to prefer to blend that out with this bronzer because it’s very cool toned and helps everything look smooth.

Ciate London Bamboo Bronzer (Sample)

BronzerCollectionLBL4

This guy is in my current Project Pan for March so I definitely wanted to include a little review of it here. The formula is very smooth so it looks really pretty on the skin. It is a lot more pigmented in comparison to the Physicians Formula bronzer so I do have to be careful that I don’t over apply it and make sure that I blend this out very well.

BronzerCollectionLBL5

This is warm-toned so I prefer to wear this when I’m wearing warmed toned eyeshadow and blush or else it can look muddy on me. I’ve been diligent about using this so I have hit pan which I’m very excited about.  I love wearing this in my crease as well, so it has doubled as an eyeshadow for me.

Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Bronzing Powder (mini size)

BronzerCollectionLBL6

I must say that I’m always repurchasing this particular bronzer because when it comes to shade, pigmentation and formula I’m most comfortable using this. It’s as pigmented as the Ciate London Bronzer but the cool shade is a better match for my skin tone so it looks a lot more natural on me. This formula really blends into the skin rather than sits on top so overall it does look more flattering on me.

BronzerCollectionLBL7

My one qualm with this palette is that I’m not into the box packaging. If I had room in my magnetic palette I would de-pot this. I don’t think you’d have the same issue with the regular size, but my bronzer brush hardly fits in the mini size so it never picks up product equally. I know this is the Benefit style packaging, but it’s pretty bulky.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit – Volume 4 Bronzer in Filtered Bronze Light

BronzerCollectionLBL8

I originally wasn’t going to include this bronzer because the palette is no longer available and I couldn’t find this colour in the single style compact but I am loving the formula and you can get other shades in this range from Hourglass.

BronzerCollectionLBL10

This palette is recent to my collection so I haven’t used it too often, but whenever I have I am always so happy with how it looks on my skin. The bronzer is so finely milled and so soft that it really melts into the skin. It’s lightly pigmented like my Physicians Formula bronzer which again I like because I can quickly apply it and be out the door. This, however, has a slight sheen to it which really makes my skin glow.

BronzerCollectionLBL9

Mix it with the other face powders in this palette and my skin looks so nice and healthy which is a happy change for me compared it looking really dry. The only downside is that the pan is pretty small and my bronzing brush is large so I find I have to be careful I don’t mix in the other colours.

Swatches

BronzerCollectionLBL11

There you have it, my little collection of current bronzers that I rotate through on a daily basis. What bronzers are in your collection? What bronzer do you love the most and why?

Lots of Love,
Dal

Project Pan Monthly: March 2019 & February Update

For the most part, I was really consistant about using my February products whenever I wore makeup. Towards the end of the month though, I wore the palette a little less because I was so excited about using my Nudestix sets (review is coming soon!) and of course, I was using my lip item less and less. All together I used my items 17 of 28 days in February.

In case you didn’t know, this is my Project Pan objective;

Project Pan Monthly

Each month I chose 4 items to use, sharing reviews of those products if they aren’t already on the blog. At the end of the month, I’ll share an update of how well I did and then list the items for the next month. The products are chosen from these categories;

  • One Eyeshadow Palette
  • One Lip Item (lipstick, lip balm, gloss, etc.)
  • One Face Item (foundation, highlighter, blush, bronzer)
  • One Random Item (can be another item from the categories above, or be something else like a mascara, liner, skin care, body care, fragrance, etc.)

February Progress

Alamar Cosmetics Reina Del Caribe Vol. 1 (reviewed here) I mostly stuck to using more of the warm-toned shades in this palette because they were easier to put together for everyday looks that I would wear to work.

ProjectPanMonthlyMarch_LBL.jpg

I used coco-taxi the most of this whole palette and loved it with a bare lid and just a touch of that orange in the crease. When I wanted to go a bit more bold I would wear Tropico and Guantanamera on the outter edge of my lid and cafecito as a liner. The shade that I gravitated to every once in a while was La Costa, which looked so gorgeous swiped across the lid with some liner. You can see a few dents where I used the shade, which I’m really happy about.

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in Sheer Liar. I wore this almost everytime I did my makeup the first two weeks of February.

ProjectPanMonthlyMarch_LBL (7)

However, I started lacking because I needed to switch to lip balm as my lips started to feel dry due to the cold weather so I didn’t get much use out of this lip stick in the end. But I do like the colour, so I might introduce it back into another project pan at a later time.

Wet n Wild MegaGlo Highlighting Powder in Blossom Glow (reviewed here). I love this highlighter and used it quite a lot this month, but I’m surprised that you can’t really tell.

ProjectPanMonthlyMarch_LBL (4)

I mean, if you owned one of these highlights you’ll know that a little goes a long way so I’m not surprised that it barely looks touched. You can see that the beautiful flower print is slightly starting to wear off.

Daisy by Marc Jacobs PerEstfume (reviewed here). Another item that I was using a lot in the beginning of the month, and then for some reason just started using it less often.

ProjectPanMonthlyMarch_LBL (8)

I loooovveeee this scent! I must subconsciously not want to waste it all, haha!

My March Items

This month I’ve chosen;

ProjectPanMonthlyMarch_LBL (9)

  • One Eyeshadow Palette – Morphe The Jacklyn Hill Palette
  • One Lip Item – Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick in Watermelon
  • One Face Item – Ciate London Bamboo Bronzer
  • One Random Item – Estee Lauder Double Wear Nude Water Fresh Makeup (reviewed here)

ProjectPanMonthlyMarch_LBL (10)

I wanted to include some items that I haven’t reviewed yet on the blog. I’ve had the Jacklyn Hill Palette for some time now and I really wanted to focus a mont on using it and sharing a review for it.

ProjectPanMonthlyMarch_LBL (2)

I was hoping to try to use up my Ciate Bronzer Sample since it’s starting to look like I might hit pan!

Let me know how your project pan is coming along whether you are doing one each month like I am or doing a year-long project pan.

Lots of Love,
Dal

Bye Bye Empties, February

February flew by for me! I had a great start to the month with my birthday. I celebrated with everyone I love which was amazing. It was pretty hectic at work and towards the end of the month, it started to take over quite a bit of my time. I’m hoping things can slow down again in March.

I didn’t think I had used up so many items but when I looked at my empties bin I was pleasantly surprised with my progress. Since I’m on a no-buy, I can really start to feel items emptying out of my bath & skincare collection which is great!

EmptiesFebruary2019_LBL (1)

On to what I used up!

*Note: I’m on a no-buy this year. If I mention repurchasing an item, it just that I really liked it and would buy again, just not in 2019 😛

Hair and Body Care

EmptiesFebruary2019_LBL (3)

Bath & Body Works Sea Island Cotton Shower Gel. This mini size was sitting in my travel bag for some time now that I decided I would just take it out and use it up. This is such a signature scent for me, I love the freshness and sharp clean fragrance. It’s also just a plain’ol good body wash. I would repurchase.

Dove Exfoliating Body Polish in Crushed Macadamia & Rice Milk (sample). I absolutely love the scent of this! It’s so comforting and delicious. I love exfoliating washes and use them about once a week, especially in winter, to help smooth my legs. The granules on this are sand-like so it always reminds me of being at the beach. I have a large tub of this in another scent that I will be opening up soon.

Being by Sanctuary Salted Caramel & Macadamia Bubbe Bath. Can you sense a trend here with my favourite scents! haha! This is the second time purchasing this very bubble bath. I love it! It smells amazing and it creates such beautiful bubbles. I am definitely going to repurchase this.

Dove Derma+Care Scalp Anti-Dandruff Shampoo. The winter has been really bad on my skin and hair this year. I have a dry scalp and suffer from dandruff occasionally so I always like having anti-dandruff shampoo around to ensure that I get a deep clean. Dove doesn’t really come to mind when you think of these kinds of shampoos, but this guy is awesome! I enjoy the scent because it’s not so harsh and it really leaves my hair and scalp feeling really clean but it’s a very gentle formula. I would repurchase this.

Skincare

EmptiesFebruary2019_LBL (4)

Consonant Natural Foaming Face Wash. I’ve tried so many foaming cleansers in the past and this is maybe one of my favourites. It’s super gentle on the skin but it removes makeup with ease. I don’t have any issues using this close to my eyes when I’m removing my mascara. This guy was a mini size because I wanted to test it out, I would definitely repurchase a large size next time.

Kaja Juicy Bamboo Natural Facial Cleansing Cloths. I reviewed a sample packet of this in my September Empties and since I really liked it I decided to buy a pack. The cloths themselves are small but effective. I liked using them to refresh my face in the morning before applying makeup or at the end of the day to remove my mascara. I like that the cloths are biodegradable so I would throw them into my organics bin when I was done with them. They have a lemony fresh scent too. I would repurchase.

Hello Fab Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer. I loved wearing this when I was bare faced and wanted to add a little glow and moisture to my skin. It was alright as a primer but I mostly just liked it as a moisturizer. I’m not sure I’d repurchase this one.

Clinique iD Dramatically Different Lotion + Active Cartridge for Fatigue. I’m sure a lot of you have probably seen the new Clinique iD lotions – the ones where you can add a Cartridge of your choice so that when you pump it you get lotion and serum?

Clinique ID

Well, I was really interested in them so I stopped by the Clinique counter and got a sample of a duo that would work for me, the dramatically different lotion+ with the anti-fatigue orange serum cartridge. I really wasn’t sure what to expect, but this ended up being great stuff! The fatigue cartridge is perfect for my winter dull skin and the dramatically different lotion itself was amazing at hydrating my skin without feeling heavy. I would definitely repurchase and highly recommend trying a sample for yourself!

Makeup

EmptiesFebruary2019_LBL (5)

CoverGirl Exhibitionist Mascara. I received this through Influenster to test out and I shared a look using it in my Festive Makeup Look. This was good at lifting my lashes. It’s a very nice black mascara and the formula was dry so it lightly coated my lashes which I enjoyed for everyday type looks. It has started to smell so I’m tossing it out.

Bang Beauty Chocolate Eye Liner. I got this in my August BoxyCharm and was so excited to have a brown gel liner. I tried to use this the other day but it was so dry and crumbly so I’m just going to toss it out.

Butter London Stroke of Wow Roll On Precision Eyeliner. This came in my September BoxyCharm I said I was going to give this a try but every time I opened it and saw the pizza cutter style applicator I was turned off from it. Why would I chance ruining my look by using this tool, it’s hard enough getting a perfect wing with just a liquid or gel liner, why make it any harder. This is a stroke of no and I won’t be repurchasing it.

~~~
These are all my empties for February! I was really happy with everything I used up. Some things went straight to the trash but the majority of items were used all the way through.
How was your progress for February? What items did you use up?
Lots of Love,
Dal
Sol de Janeiro Coco Cabana Cream
MSRP: $20.00 US
UnboxingBoxyCharmFebruary_2019 (5)
I love the original Bum Bum Cream so I was really excited to see the new Coco Cabana Cream in my box! It’s an oil-in-water gel cream with a blend of fermented sugar and coconut oil to moisture for up to 72 hours. The scent is a mix of coconut, toasted praline and warm vanilla latte. I love the original Bum Bum formula because it smells so good and is really hydrating and I’m hoping that the formula of the Coco Cabana is the same.
touch in SOL No Problem Primer
MSRP: $18.00 US
UnboxingBoxyCharmFebruary_2019 (4)
I’ve never tried anything from touch in SOL so I’ve happy to have an item to test out in my box. I don’t usually wear primer unless I’m wearing makeup for a long night out or special event, still, I like having a good primer on hand. This has green tea and collagen to act as adhesive and help your makeup last for many hours.
Pretty Vulgar Shimmering Swan Highlighter
MSRP: $32.00 US
UnboxingBoxyCharmFebruary_2019 (7)
I’m slowly building a nice collection of Pretty Vulgar Makeup thanks to BoxyCharm! I love the pearl-shade of this highlighter and I’m really excited to give this formula a try.
UnboxingBoxyCharmFebruary_2019 (8)
Looking at some of the reviews online, this is described as a subtle highlight which is exactly the time of highlight I love!
Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
MSRP: $24.00 US
UnboxingBoxyCharmFebruary_2019 (3)
Ok, so I might be one of the very few makeup-obsessed people who has not tried Better Than Sex mascara. I might have had a sample when this first came out, but I honestly don’t remember. I’m really excited to give this a try and see if it lives up to all the hype. It has Acacia Senegal Tree extract to set volume while film-forming polymers lock in curl.
NudeStix Magnetic Luminous Eye Color in Copper Foil
MSRP: $24.00 US
UnboxingBoxyCharmFebruary_2019 (9)
Yes! Yes! Yes! Finally, NudeStix is getting some much-needed circulation through BoxyCharm! I absolutely love this brand for easy everyday looks. After receiving this in my box, I’m really motivated to post more reviews because I really think NudeStix deserves more recognition.
UnboxingBoxyCharmFebruary_2019 (10)
I already have the Copper Foil stick so I’m saving the one in my box for my mom because I know she will love it. This is a super long-wearing eyeshadow pencil that is easy to blend with your fingers or a brush as an eyeshadow or can be used to as an eyeliner.
My Thoughts
What an awesome box! I’m happy with every single item I received.
Total Value: $118.00 US ($156.30 CAD)
Did you get BoxyCharm this month? What did you receive in your box?
Lots of Love,
Pretty Pink Makeup Look
With it almost Valentine’s Day, I’ve seen so many beautiful pink makeup looks and was inspired to create my own. I’m not big on actually celebrating Valentine’s Day, but it is a nice reminder to share love with those you care about around you. Also, it’s a great excuse to buy a box of chocolates for myself!
PinkMakeupLook_LBL (3)
The look I created is very soft, I was hoping to create more of a neon pink look but I didn’t have that colour in any of my palettes. Thinking back now, I probably could have used some of my blushes on my eyes since I have an array of pinks. Anyways, I’m still happy with the final look.
PinkMakeupLook_LBL (8)
For the eyes, I used two palettes. My ever favourite Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette (reviewed here) and a newer palette in my collection, the Jaclyn Hill Palette (review to come!) I picked out the pink shades and worked them together in my eye look.
PinkMakeupLook_LBL (10)
I put concealer all over my eyes and used Peaches N’ Cream from Sweet Peach Palette as a base shadow. Sticking with the Sweet Peach Palette, I used Candied Peach in my crease and the outer edge of my lid. I then used Georgia to blend it out.
PinkMakeupLook_LBL (9)
Since the pink shades in the Jacklyn Hill palette were shimmery, I used them on my lids. On the outer half of my lid, I used Sissy and blended it slightly with Faint on the inner portion of the lid.
I went back to my Sweet Peach Palette to grab Summer Yum to slightly deepen the outer edge of my crease. I also used a little bit of that and mixed with Just Peachy for my lower lid.
PinkMakeupLook_LBL
For the inner corner Highlight, I went into my Tarte Blush Bazaar Palette (reviewed here) and grabbed Worthy. This is such a pretty sparkly lilac shade and it worked so well with the look. To finish off the eyes, I added some mascara.
PinkMakeupLook_LBL (11)
For blush I used Dainty from my Tarte Blush Bazaar Palette.  For highlight, I used my Wet N’ Wild Megaglo Highlighting Powder in Blossom Glow. I received this in my Topbox and it’s currently in Project Pan Monthly for February. I’ll have a dedicated review for this in the next few days.
PinkMakeupLook_LBL (12)
For the lips, I did a mixture of three lip items since I didn’t have a lipstick colour I thought worked well with my eye look on its own. I started with my Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Lipstick in 220 Powerful. To make pink a little more peachy I added some of my Two Faced Sweet Peach Creamy Peach oil in Pure Peach. For a little sparkle, I then used my Bobbi Brown High Shimmer Lip Gloss in Bare Sparkle, this is a gorgeous champagne shade.
PinkMakeupLook_LBL (7)
Altogether, I love how everything looks. Pink works really well with my complexion and it’s so fun to wear when I’m not sticking to browns but still want something that won’t be too bold. How do you like wearing pink makeup?
Lots of Love,
Dal
Project Pan Monthly: February 2019 & January update
I was pretty consistent with using the items of my Project Pan for January. I was keeping track of how many times in the month I used all the items and counted 21/31 days! I wore all the items together to create looks for work most of the time and stuck to no makeup days on the weekends.
In case you didn’t know, this is my Project Pan objective;
Project Pan Monthly
Each month I chose 4 items to use, sharing reviews of those products if they aren’t already on the blog. At the end of the month, I’ll share an update of how well I did and then list the items for the next month. The products are chosen from these categories;
  • One Eyeshadow Palette
  • One Lip Item (lipstick, lip balm, gloss, etc.)
  • One Face Item (foundation, highlighter, blush, bronzer)
  • One Random Item (can be another item from the categories above, or be something else like a mascara, liner, skin care, body care, fragrance, etc.)
My January Progress
Project Pan February (3)
Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette (reviewed here) – I made a dent in milk chocolate, hazelnut, salted caramel and creme brulee. They are super wearable shades so it made it easy to put looks together for work. It was fun to start using this palette again, I totally forgot just how much I really loved it.
Project Pan February (7)
Nudestix Lip and Cheek Balm in Pulse (reviewed here) – I sharpened this twice throughout the month. It doesn’t seem to have gotten shorter but I’m really proud of myself for putting in the effort to wear a lip item more often than I usually do.
Project Pan February (6)
Tarte Cosmetics Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blush in Paaarty (reviewed here) – I can see the pan and although I was very good at using this deluxe sample and being very generous with my application I couldn’t hit pan like I wanted to. I think later in the year I might add this again to my Project Pan Monthly and see if I can finally reach that silver lining!
Project Pan February (8)
Benefit They’re Real Mascara in Black – One thing that I was able to use up in January was this mascara! I’ve had this for some time so I knew it was almost done but it still feels good to have one item finish during the Project Pan for January!
That’s the update for the January items. Didn’t really hit pan on any of my powder items but I did make some progress. Now on to my b-day month! February!
My February Items
This month I’ve chosen;
Project Pan February (9)
  • Eyeshadow Palette – Alamar Cosmetics Reina Del Caribe Vol. 1 (reviewed here)
  • Lip Item – Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in Sheer Liar
  • Face Item – Wet n Wild MegaGlo Highlighting Powder in Blossom Glow
  • Random Item – Daisy by Marc Jacobs Perfume (reviewed here)
The Alamar palette is much more colourful compared to the Too Palette so I’m hoping I’ll be able to create some fun and different looks with it.
Project Pan February (16)
It’ll be a challenge too since I don’t usually wear these types of colours to work but I’ll see if I can create some and share them on my Instagram.
I also wanted to share my thoughts on the Wet n’ wild highlight and Urban Decay lipstick since I’ve never reviewed either on my blog although I have been using them quite a bit in my makeup routine.
Let me know how your project pan is coming along whether you are doing one each month like I am or doing a year-long project pan.
Lot’s of Love,
Dal
Laline Review, My Little at Home Spa
I love having a spa day at home every once in a while. I set aside some time to draw up a nice bath, play music, drink tea or a healthy smoothy and pamper myself with nice body care and face masks. It’s pure magic!
At Christmas, I received a few body care items from Laline and I instantly wanted to try them out the next time I had a spa day at home.
20181231_140918
Laline is brand from Tel Aviv that focuses on invoking pampering through scent. They have a range of body, face, fragrance and tools in a variety of scents to help you leave behind the every day and enter a world of pampering and tranquillity.
I’m not sure how long they’ve been in Canada but I noticed their store at the mall nearest me a few months ago and decided to take a look at what they offered. The stores are very elegant and make you feel like you are stepping into a spa. I love it! And yes, the various fragrances are just amazing!
I instantly fell in love with the scent Musk. Now, I know that musk usually brings to mind men’s cologne but this is not like that. It’s very soft, sweet, kind of nutty, and very delicate. Fragrance notes include; vetiver root, musk, lily of the valley and ylang.
I guess Santa noticed I had been eyeing their items and decided to gift them to me 😉
I love that Laline also has a list of values they want their products to invoke. One of their values is The greatest pleasures are the ones that you create for yourself. I agree so much with that. You make your own happiness and pleasures, like setting aside personal me time when I have a spa day at home.
20181231_141105
I started my spa day with a bubble bath and tried out the Body Scrub. This has dead sea salt to deeply cleanse the skin with natural minerals, and it nourishes with avocado and grape seed oils. Having dry skin I appreciate the oils because they are very nourishing. When you first apply the scrub it feels oily, however, it quickly absorbs into the skin.
20181231_141241
The scrub itself is a bit gritty because they use salt grains so I wouldn’t recommend it if you have sensitive skin. I find a little under a tablespoon scoop is perfect for my whole body. It leaves my skin feeling super exfoliated.
After my bath, I applied the Body Cream and Hand Cream. These are both thick and creamy which I absolutely love. They are enriched with Aloe Vera extract, Jojoba, Calendula and Borage oils.
I definitely feel like I’m pampering my skin when I put them on and they leave me feeling hydrated.
To end off my pampering session, I spritzed myself with the Body Mist. I love this because it’s soft and subtle so I can enjoy it all day. Usually, when I’m just relaxing at home, I like to keep my scent light as I feel like it envokes a sense of calm for me. I don’t like anything that is too sweet or harsh, just really clean and barely there.
I feel like the ingredients in these products are so nice and really do remind me of products that you might get at a spa. My skin is left smooth and hydrated and the scent is oh-so-good.
Have you tried any items from Laline? How do you like to pamper yourself?
Lots of Love,
Dal
Unboxing Topbox, January 2019
Price: $12.00 CAD (plus tax, free shipping) 4 items.
Topbox is a Canadian monthly beauty subscription service. Each month you have the option of getting a surprise box or to swap it for a prive box where all the products are from one brand or fall within a theme and you know what they are. This month I wished for a prive box but I didn’t get it. I got a surprise box instead.
I have decided that I will be cancelling my Topbox for my year-long no-buy. February will be my last box!
All prices in Canadian Dollars.
Steve Laurant Velvet Matte Liquid Lipstick in Lilac
Full Size $22.00 (3.2g), this is a full-size item
20190118_112937
This lipstick is described as a matte, weightless, and long wearing. I like the lilac colour, it’s very unique to what I currently have in my collection and it’s nice to see a cooler toned colour instead of the deep nudes I usually get in my boxes. I haven’t worn or swatched this yet but it looks promising!
Purlisse Watermelon Aqua Balm
Full Size $45.00 (50mL), Sample Size $9.00 (10mL)
20190118_113131
Well, I’m never disappointed with more skincare! This balm sounds really good based on the description, it’s an oil-free gel cream that energizes, refreshes, soothes skin while providing hydration. It has watermelon which is packed with vitamin A, B & C, aloe vera to reduce inflammation, white tea to protect skin from cellular damage and cucumber to soothe and firm skin. These are all things that I need especially in the winter!
Morgan Taylor Professional Nail Lacquer in Pretty Wild
Full Size: $15.83 (15mL), this is a full-size item
20190118_113055
I’ve received a few different nail lacquers from Morgan Taylor through Topbox and I really like the formula. Usually, two coats are enough to give my nails full coverage. It’s a thicker formula so when it dries it feels gel-like. I really like this colour as well, I don’t think I have anything in this dusty purple so I’m happy to try it on! I think it might be a similar colour to the liquid lipstick so I can see them working together.
Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief
Full Size: $46.00 (50mL), Sample Size: $6.44 (7mL)
20190118_113205
Another face cream! Woohoo! This is an oil-free, lightweight cream-gel formula that plumps skin with 24-hour hydration. I’ve tried other Clinique skincare and really like them so I’m curious to see how well this will work for me.
My Thoughts
Overall, the box was pretty good. I was a bit bummed at first that I didn’t get a prive box but I really like the collection of items that came this month, there is skincare, nail lacquer and a liquid lipstick, so a good selection of items. I’m also happy that the items are not ones I currently have in my collection.
Total Value: $53.27
Did you get Topbox this month? What was in your box?
