What I Received:

1. Bain De Terre Hair Oil

This tiny sample has argan oil and passion flower in the formula designed to aid coloured hair in styling. As I’ve mentioned before, I’ve gone more blonde this summer so I love that this will help protect my hair as I put it through the torture of curling, straightening and direct sun exposure. Full Size Price $14.65 (1.7oz), Sample Price $2.15 (0.25oz)

2. Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real Mascara

OMG! I love this mascara, I own the large size as well as have about 3 samples! I can never get enough of this. I’m sure many of you have tried it and already know how you feel about it. I’m glad to get another sample because I really like this formula and like that I can carry this around when I travel or as a back up whenever my large size runs out. Full Size Price $29.00 (0.3oz), Sample Price $9.67 (0.1oz)

3. Fekkai Technician Color Care Shampoo

So again I receive a shampoo without the matching conditioner, which is a bummer. BUT! I am really excited to try this because it will help protect my coloured hair. It smells a like herbal essences shampoo. Full Size Price $28.00 (16oz), Sample Price $3.50 (2oz)

4. Gillchrist & Soames Spa Therapy Body Lotion

This lotion is full of marine extracts, I like that it dried really quickly and made my skin feel smooth and moisturized afterwards. It smells almost like a green tea, I can’t put my finger on it exactly but the smell is pretty faint. Full Size Price $18.00 (8oz), Sample Price $3.04 (1.35oz)

5. Vasanti Cosmetics BrightenUp Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator

I received this exact sample in Ipsy this month, which isn’t so terrible. This has little crystals that mimic microdermabrasion to give a deep clean. I’m really excited to try it. Full Size Price $34.00 (120 g), Sample Price $5.67 (20 g)

My Thoughts

This box is in-line with the theme of having a healthy summer because all the products are geared towards conditioning your skin and hair. Total Value of my samples; $45.24.

What I Received

1. Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real Push Up Liner in Beyond Brown

I love Benefit!! I wasn’t, however, the biggest fan of this liner when it first came out. I do like this brown, but I wish if we were getting the coloured liners that I got one of the fun ones, like purple. After doing a swatch, it was the hardest to remove, which is good when wearing it, but you really need to get the They’re Real Makeup Remover (luckily I have some). Full Size Price $27.00 (1.4g), Sample Size $6.94 (0.36g)

2. Shu Uemura Essence Absolute Nourishing Protective Oil

I’m impressed with these beauty brand samples in my box! I love hair oils, I am always excited to receive more of them. Dry hair, meet your match! haha! AND! This smells amazing! I can’t put my finger on what it is but it is so luxurious and sweet! Full Size Price $69.00 (150mL), Sample Price $13.80 (30 mL)

3. So Susan Rose Quartet Lip & Cheek Stain

These colours are super pigmented, I was honestly not expecting them to be so vibrant! I love when products surprise me! The pots are a bit small so I’m not sure how I’d use this for me cheeks, but for lips it’s perfect. The samples came with a small lip brush so it’s awesome for traveling with (which I’ll be doing soon!) This product claims to give 12hrs of wear with no creasing, drying or smudging, I hope they’re right! Full Size Price $12.00 (4g), this is a full size product.

4. OFRA Cosmetics OFRA Universal Eyebrow Pencil

I’ve used the OFRA lip liners before and was really happy with them, so I’m excited to try the eyebrow pencil. This is a “one-colour-for-all” brow pencil, you use it lightly if you have blonde brows and harder strokes for dark brows. It came on really nice and creamy on my hand so I’m sure it’ll look good on my brows. I’ve been needing a brow pencil, so I will put this to good use. This also came with a how-to guide that I will be following. Full Size Price $13.00 (1.13g) this is another full size product.

My Thoughts

I am super happy with everything in this bag (well not so much the liner, but I’ll give it another shot). The total value of my samples is $45.74.

My Summer Essentials: 3 Items I Can’t Go Without

With the weather getting splendidly better, I had a chance to finally put on a t-shirt and shorts and start thinking about all the things I plan to do this summer. It also meant that I had to prepare for the new routine I’d have to endure these next few months (ie. shaving/waxing, wearing sunscreen, drinking more water etc.) That got me thinking about some of the things I can’t do without in the summer and I thought I’d share them with you. This list does not include sunscreen, although it is essential for the summer, my list includes three things that I need beyond that basic.

Number 1: Primer

IMG_0014I wear face primer all the time, but I find that when it comes to the summer months it really helps to prevent makeup from melting off my face. Also, I have dry skin but wearing too much moisturizer can make me feel greasy in the summer so primers help to restore just enough moisture. Plus they minimize the appearance of pores, which is something I’d like not to suffer from in the hot weather! My two faves, pore fessional by Benefit and anti-aging primer by CoverFX (anti-aging is always an added bonus.)

Number 2: Hair Oil

I’m sure this is a must for many. With visits to pools, exposing yourself to pollution outside, the hot sun, and the all hair colouring and highlighting how could you go without a good hair oil. I usually mix different oils and leave in conditioners together to achieve the softness I need out of my dry hair but my stand out fave is the keratin dry oil mist by ion smooth solutions. I like that it is a mist bottle so I get even coverage in my hair and keeps my style from becoming frizzy.

Number 3: Body Lotion

IMG_0017 What I really can’t do without, ever, is my moisturizer. I have dry skin all the time, and it only feels worse in the summer, especially after shaving my legs. It’s also great to moisturize because the sun takes its toll on your skin so it is always good to keep it nourished. I love anything by Yves Rocher and their nourishing lotion in almond is amazing, both in smell and in how well it moisturizers (the 3 in 1 action according to the bottle is that skin is nourished, smoothed and protected.)

These are my three summer essentials, what are yours?
