Project Pan Monthly: April Roundup & May Items

I think I made good progress with my April Project Pan. A lot of items are easy, everyday products so they were ones I constantly wanted to reach for.  One thing I didn’t do was travel with my April products so the last few days of April I didn’t get to make any progress. In total, I used my April Project Pan Products 15/30 days.

ProjectPanMay_LBL (2)

Likewise, I did not choose any new items for May until the 6th so I missed about a weeks worth of usage for my May Project Pan products. Anyways I’m not really too concerned. This is all supposed to be fun and just encourage me to use up what I have.

I also wasn’t tempted to do any Sephora VIB Sale shopping and I’m so proud of myself for that! I’m keeping true to my no-buy. Did you get any items during the sale?

In case you didn’t know, this is my Project Pan objective;

Project Pan Monthly

Each month I chose 4 items to use, sharing reviews of those products if they aren’t already on the blog. At the end of the month, I’ll share an update of how well I did and then list the items for the next month. The products are chosen from these categories;

  • One Eyeshadow Palette
  • One Lip Item (lipstick, lip balm, gloss, etc.)
  • One Face Item (foundation, highlighter, blush, bronzer)
  • One Random Item (can be another item from the categories above, or be something else like a mascara, liner, skin care, body care, fragrance, etc.)

April Roundup

ProjectPanMay_LBL (4)

Tarte Tartelette In Bloom Palette (reviewed here). I used flower child quite a bit and I can start to see a little dip in that. It was a perfect shade to sweep over my whole lid as a base. I then equally used the second column for crease colours and the third and last column for a lid liner or to deepen the crease. I think I used every colour in this palette which is why I really love it.

Bite Beauty Lip Pencil in 020 Beige Nude. I used this way more than I do lipstick which I’m pretty happy about. The colour worked with whatever shade I put on my eyes so I felt like I enjoyed wearing it whenever I was wearing my Tartelette palette. I would use the lip pencil all over my lips and then apply a line gloss on top. I like that it lasted all day and the colour wasn’t super bold. I sharpened this about 2 times so you don’t see a huge difference but for me, wearing anything on my lips for more than a week is huge progress.

ProjectPanMay_LBL (3)

Ciate London Bamboo Bronzer (reviewed here). Do you see that pan! I’m so happy with how much I used up! I think this will be empty by the summer with the amount of wear I’m getting out of it.

Shiseido Ibuki Smart Filtering Smoother (reviewed here). I used this item the least, maybe about 10/30 days in the month because it’s just not made from my skin type. It may work better for me in the summer so I’ll try it again then.

My May Items

ProjectPanMay_LBL (5)

This month I’ve chosen;

  • One Eyeshadow Palette – Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Vol. II Palette (reviewed here)
  • One Lip Item – Bobbi Brown Lip Gloss in Bare Sparkle
  • One Face Item – Vintage Cosmetics Illuminating Face Highlighter in Rose Gold (reviewed here)
  • One Random Item – Benefit Bad Gal Bang Mascara (reviewed here)

ProjectPanMay_LBL (6)

I wasn’t planning on putting in another Tarte Palette into my Project Pan Monthly, but since I had been using it anyway this month I thought why not. These items are ones that I find I’m reaching for a lot in May so far. I’m hoping I can make some dent in the Vintage Cosmetics Highlighter and I hope to use up the Benefit Mascara.

How is your progress been for Project Pan this month? Have you noticed a difference in your products?

Review: Grande Cosmetics GrandeLASH™ MD Lash Enhancing Serum

Who doesn’t want long, thick lashes! I know I sure do. If you didn’t know, a long time ago I worked at a medical spa and had the opportunity to try out Latisse. I actually saw a difference in my lashes. I had to stop using it after a few months because it was too expensive to be repurchasing and my lashes went back to their normal length. Since then, I’ve been intrigued by how many other lash enhancing brands have hit the market.

I was browsing through the Sephora website back in September when I stumbled upon Grand Cosmetics and their feature enhancing items. I decided I would try the GrandeLASH MD serum and see if it would do anything for my lashes. According to the directions, it takes 3 months to achieve the full results of the product.
GrandLash_Review_LBL (4)

I’ve been using this for 8 weeks, just over halfway through the 3 month period and I thought I’d share my experience up to this point.

What it is
A revolutionary lash enhancing serum that promotes longer, thicker-looking eyelashes. (
GrandLash_Review_LBL (3)

$87.00 CAD (2mL). This is pricey, but it’s supposed to be 3 months worth of product.

You are supposed to apply this like eyeliner, close to the lashes but not on the lashes themselves every night after washing and drying your face. You apply one stroke on each eye. The applicator itself is very similar to a brush tip liquid liner. I’ll admit that I  have missed days here and there but for the most part, I’ve been pretty consistent with the application. It feels like a wet liquid eyeliner for the first few minutes before it dried.
GrandLash_Review_LBL (5)

Did it make a difference?
When I look back at the photos above I don’t see a huge difference in the appearance of my lashes. Granted, because I was trying to stay consistent, the photos were taken in the morning in my bathroom which probably doesn’t have the best lighting. However, when I look at my lashes in person, I see a slight difference and when I apply my mascara I see an even bigger difference.

My lashes before are a standard length but the tips are blonde so they look shorter than they actually are. Now, I feel like when I look in the mirror, my lashes look darkened from root to tip. My Lashes feel really soft and almost thicker too.
GrandLash_Review_LBL (2)

It hasn’t had an adverse effect on my lashes, so I feel safe to use it until the end of the 3-month treatment.

I can see a difference if I compare week 1 to week 8. I’m not expecting a huge difference in my lashes, but even the smallest amount of change is a good one for. I’ll continue using this until I’ve reached three months and share an update on my progress.

Have you tried a lash enhancing serum? Do you think this will even make a difference on me in 3 months?

Kat Von D Saint & Sinner Eyeshadow Palette: Palette Collection Review Series

With the VIB Sale on at Sephora, I thought it appropriate to post my thoughts on Kat Von D’s Saint & Sinner palette if you were debating whether to pick this up or not. I’ve always snoozed on the Kat Von D limited edition palettes in the past and regretted it, but this year I bought the palette the moment it was released.

What it is
An ultra-limited eyeshadow palette with 12 Saint and 12 Sinner shades inspired by the vibrantly stained glass windows of gothic cathedrals. (
Kat Von D Saint Sinner Review_LBL3Price
$83.00 CAD (.96 oz total). This palette is very pricey but you get 24 shades in large pan sizes. If you were to get this during the sale it would be $66.40 (20% off) for VIB and VIB Rouge and $70.55 (15% off) for beauty insiders.
Kat Von D Saint Sinner Review_LBL2
Keeping with the theme of the palette, this looks like a cathedral window with Kat’s signature design. It’s a nice thick style cardboard that feels very sturdy. It has two mirrors on each side of the flaps. Although the packaging is beautiful, it’s not very practical. I enjoy compact palettes that I can store but this one is too bulky.
Kat Von D Saint Sinner Review_LBL8Colours
These colours do remind me of stained glass. When I first saw this palette I was a bit unsure how the colours would work together, but playing around with it in person, I can easily build together a lot of cohesive looks. For me, the colours are really fun and bold. Usually, palettes have one or two bold shades but this palette is full of them!

I do want to note that two of the colours I’ve noticed are patchy. Those colours are worship and crucifix on the saint side. For my look below, I really needed to build up worship and the only way I got the colour to work was when I switched to my Inglot 26P brush (see it here) because it’s small and dense. It’s just a bummer that these colours don’t perform as well as the others.

Kat Von D Saint Sinner Review_LBL5Saint has more “everyday” type shades. I love the mix of cool and warm shades.
Kat Von D Saint Sinner Review_LBL9 My favourite shades on this side of the palette include; sacred heart, heaven and cathedral.

For my look, I put amen all over the lid and blended sacred heart into the crease. I then added worship over the lid and on my lower lid. On the outer edge of my eyelid, I added sanctuary. I used a bit more of amen on the inner eye to make it brighter. I put absolution on the inner half of my eyelid for some sparkle and finished it off with Lancome’s Monsieur Big for very bold lashes.

Kat Von D Saint Sinner Review_LBL6
The sinner colours are way more bold and unique. These colours really pop.
Kat Von D Saint Sinner Review_LBL10I think this side of the palette is a great way to incorporate more fun shades into your collection. My favourite shades include; rapture, vestment, ministry and relic.

To create the look above, I started with baptism from the Saint side all over the lid. I then blended devil in the crease and on the outer half of my eyelid. After, I placed stigmata over devil to intensify the red on the outer eyelid and put relic all over the inner half of my eyelid and mimicked those colours on my lower lid. For mascara, I used Benefit’s Roller Lash in brown.

What makes this palette exceptional is the formula and the finishes. There are mattes, which Kat Von D is famous for and gorgeous shimmer shades. There are also two shades (absolution and rapture) which are glitters that are meant to be used as shadow toppers. I didn’t think I was going to love absolution because it doesn’t swatch well but on top of shadow, it really pops.

Application & Wear
These shadows apply well and blend easily together. The pigmentation is phenomenal and the shades look so vibrant. They also feel soft and creamy. I’m always inspired to create a new look. I use a primer (Urban Decay’s primer potion) with the colours to ensure they last all day. The formula is very powdery and I do experience fallout so I apply this eyeshadow before foundation.

Kat Von D Saint Sinner Review_LBL4

  • Fun and inspiring colours
  • Great pigmentation
  • Easy to blend

  • Bulky packaging
  • Worship and crucifix are patchy
  • Some fallout

My Thoughts
If you are debating between all the holiday or newer palettes that have been released lately, this is a great one to pick up. I’ve tried other palettes from Kat Von D and this is up there with the quality and uniqueness of the shades. I’m so happy I picked up this palette and would say it’s worth the buy, especially during the sale.

What do you think of this Palette? What are you planning to get during the Sephora sale?

Lots of Love,

Bye Bye Empties, May 2017

Before we get too far into June I figured I better get to all my empties for May. I feel like this I finished up a lot of products that I’ve been wanting to finish so I’m really excited to share them now!

May Empties 2017_LBL (9)

Let’s start off with Algenist Purifying & Replishing Cleanser which I finished up mid month. I originally reviewed it here and at that time I said I wouldn’t repurchase this. Since then I’ve had a complete change of heart because I grew to love this cleanser because it’s just so  good at removing my makeup and leaving my skin feeling clean. Plus it lasted me so long even with regular, daily use.

I have two little sample products that I finished this month as well.
May Empties 2017_LBL (10)The first is the GlamGlow Thirstycleanse Daily Hydrating Cleanser which I really enjoyed. I used this about 4 times before the sample ran out. It’s not a product I’d use everyday though so I’ll probably not purchase a full size but I would definitely get another sample.
May Empties 2017_LBL (11)The next item is my Dr.Lipp Nipple Balm. I love this balm! I got it in my Birchbox and then did a review of it here. I used this on my lips and cuticles the most but I would also occasionally use it when my legs, hands or face felt a little extra dry as spot treatment. Luckily I purchased a full size from the Birchbox store before they stopped servicing Canada.

Body Care

May Empties 2017_LBL (6)
An item I was really happy to have finish is the St. Ives Fresh Hydration Lotion. I thought I’d really like a spray moisturizer but as someone who needs a little more hydration I realized pretty quickly that I prefer creams instead. I did enjoy this as the weather got warmer because it was really light. I also really loved the smell; super tropical and delicious.

Once I finish up more body washes I have laying around my home I’m heading straight to L’Occitane to pick up more of the Almond Shower Oil. I did a review of this product here and I’m almost finished the Almond Supple Skin Oil as well.

I didn’t finish my PennyLane Pink Grapefruit Deodorant but it’s crumbled so badly that I can’t use it anymore. That was my fault because at first I think I might have pushed up too much product causing it to crack.
May Empties 2017It’s unfortunate because I love this smell. It was strong when I first applied it but it did diminish throughout the day and left me feeling fresh. I have other deodorants I’m using right now but I will probably repurchase this.

Hair Care

May Empties 2017_LBL (3)
Although I have dry hair, I always seem to finish up my shampoos before conditioners. I really enjoy the Dove Shampoo line. It’s really nice for dry, frizzy hair like mine making it really easy to style afterwards. The Nourishing Oil Care Shampoo is definitely one I will be picking up again.

If I could chose a high-end Shampoo and Conditioner it will most likely be Alterna’s Caviar Repair Instant Recovery Duo. This is amazing for hair like mine. I got this with my Sephora points with other items from their line.
May Empties 2017_LBL (4)If I’m leaving my hair to dry naturally I’m likely to use the shampoo and conditioner as well as the Caviar CC Cream. These three together made my hair more manageable. It’s really pricey, so I might be leaving this for Christmas and Birthday ideas 😉

What did you finish up in May?

Shiseido Synchro Skin Lasting Liquid Foundation Review

This purchase was inspired by  Stashy of She had written a few times about her love for Shiseido and their products that I knew I just needed them in my life! I thought I’d head to my nearest Bay counter and pick up a foundation. For some reason this year I’ve bought more foundations than I think I have in the whole time I’ve been wearing makeup. After talking to the associate and looking at the options I decided I’d pick up the Synchro Skin Lasting Liquid Foundation.

$58.00 CAD (the Bay). This is pricey but I think it’s worth it!fotor_147603258390258What it Claims

An intelligent, long-lasting foundation that seems like your skin’s natural state.

Shade, Coverage & Application

I got the shade Rose 2, which is a beautiful light pink shade. This shade is on the cool side and although I tend towards neutral shades I’m actually really happy with this because it does lean a bit neutral. This is probably my best shade match ever! Looking at all Shiseido’s shade ranges for this line, I’m actually quite impressed with how real-tone they look. They aren’t overly yellow or red like you see in a lot of other brands, they just look extremely real.

This has a medium coverage that is easy to build up without it looking cakey because the formula is thin and liquid. I really like this, it’s a high pigment concentration in what feels like a serum constancy. It blends in like a dream, I can even use my fingers and the finish looks flawless. There is something about this texture that feels so creamy and really well milled, really luxurious and silky.  You can feel the love and hard work that went into creating this foundation, there is something about the technology in it!!fotor_147603269748162Wear & Longevity

This got the work day and dinner out test and it lasted all day! Even when my pesky blush wore off I still looked alive and flawless because this foundation doesn’t budge. It looks really beautiful on throughout the whole day.

The Breakdown

  • Great Coverage
  • Semi-Matte Finish
  • Light formula
  • SPF 30

  • Price
  • You need to shake before using which I always forget

My Thoughts

Stashy knows her stuff! I’m so happy that I was introduced to this brand through her blog. This is one incredible foundation and I can’t imagine my collection without it. Perfect for everyday and really great for my dry skin. If you’re also interested in their other foundations, Stashy had recommended to me their Sheer and Perfect Foundation which I highly recommend you read her blog review on.

Other items I picked up from Shiseido (because there was no way I’d stop at foundation!)fotor_147603276983784Translucent Loose Powder ($43.00). This is really finely milled. It rivals my Laura Mercier setting powder because it doesn’t leave me feeling dry. I love using it to set my under eye concealer, especially on days I’m wearing a lot of makeup. It does not settle into any fine lines making everything look air brushed. Plus I love the puff! fotor_147603302999051Gift with Purchase which included the Ultimate Power Infusing Concentrate, Benefiance Extra Creamy Cleansing Foam, Benefiance WrinkleResist24 Retinol Express Smoothing Eye Mask, Benefiance LiftDynamic Eye Treatment and Rouge Rouge Lipstick. So far I’ve tried the Ultimate serum which is really awesome as a primer under foundation or as a face serum on it’s own for hydration. This is magic on the skin. Also, the Rouge Lipstick is the most beautiful red! I really love this because I can try other products from this brand.

Have you tried anything from Shiseido? What do you love from this brand?

First Impressions: Oz Natural’s natural Hyaluronic Acid Serum

OZ Naturals1

When my little Amazon Package arrived last week, I was really excited about what was inside. I’m always on the lookout for some new skin care and was really eager to try OZ Natural’s natural Hyaluronic Acid Serum. Below are my thoughts.

Immediate Impression

I love the packaging, the glass bottle makes it look and feel so luxurious and I appreciate that it has an eyedropper applicator. The directions are clear on the outer box and I love that I can pronounce and know what the ingredients in this product are (these guys are not kidding about it being natural, there is aloe, witch hazel, botanical hyaluronic acid, and kosher vegetable glycerin to name a few ingredients). It has a light and fresh smell. The formula is clear and feels creamy to the touch.

I really love that this is vegan, and cruelty free, I can stand behind a brand with a conscience 🙂

OZ Naturals3

The moment I put this on my face, my skin absorbed the product right away.  It is designed to be a step you do before moisturizer to help it seep into your skin to “plump and hydrate dull skin”. I feel like it amplified how well my moisturizer worked. I used about a quarter sized amount and put it over my face and neck. I could even put this over my eyes with absolutely no irritation, so I even lathered my eyelashes with it.

After 3 days of use

I do see an improvement in my skin. I feel like it’s been plumped, and my fine lines are not as noticeable. I also began to notice that my skin continues to feel hydrated even if it’s been some time later. This is huge for me because knowing that my skin is continually being moisturized means that I don’t have to worry about super dry and tight skin.

After 6 days of use

I feel like my skin has been glowing. I even feel more comfortable going around with no makeup on. My skin feels revitalized, maybe it’s because of all the natural ingredients releasing vitamins directly into my skin, maybe it’s the Hyaluronic acid (which is used as a skin injectable, as well as other medicinal treatments) but I just feel so much happier with my skin.

Also, reading off the web, hyaluronic acid can be applied to the skin to to heal wounds, burns, and skin ulcers. I know that aloe is great for healing sun burns so I like that I can apply this after a day in the sun to cool down my face.

My Overall Thoughts

I’m really happy that I tried this out. As I’ve said before, my skin is very dry, so anything that will moisturize is a plus. What I really like about the natural Hyaluronic Acid Serum in particular is that I don’t feel greasy when I put it on which is perfect for the hot humid days, and I feel like it’s made my skin more vibrant over the last few days. I am likely going to purchase this product and more from the OZ Natural’s line, only because I feel confident that they will improve my skin.

Disclaimer – I received this product Powered by Brandbacker for free in return for an honest review, all thoughts above are my true feelings regarding this product. To learn more about OZ Natural’s natural hyaluronic acid serum click here
