Project Pan Monthly: April 2019 & March Update

I found it really easy to use up a lot of my Project Pan items in March. I think it’s mostly because I picked products that I really enjoy using. In total, I used the items in my Project Pan 22/31 days.

In case you didn’t know, this is my Project Pan objective;

Project Pan Monthly

Each month I chose 4 items to use, sharing reviews of those products if they aren’t already on the blog. At the end of the month, I’ll share an update of how well I did and then list the items for the next month. The products are chosen from these categories;

  • One Eyeshadow Palette
  • One Lip Item (lipstick, lip balm, gloss, etc.)
  • One Face Item (foundation, highlighter, blush, bronzer)
  • One Random Item (can be another item from the categories above, or be something else like a mascara, liner, skin care, body care, fragrance, etc.)

March Progress

Jacklyn Hill x Morphe Palette (reviewed here). I really enjoyed wearing this palette because I had a lot of colours to choose from. I would use a matte skin colour from my Tarte Palette over my eyes but everything else I used only this palette. I’ve highlighted the colours I used most often in the photo below. I have little dents in those pans which I’m pretty excited about!

ProjectPanMonthly_April_LBL (4).jpg

Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick in Watermelon. I kept this in my coat pocket to encourage myself to wear this more often. I think I used it about 10 days out of the month which is pretty good for me. I like the bright colour and thought it really complimented a lot of the eye looks I created in March. I don’t think I made too much of a dent in this.

ProjectPanMonthly_April_LBL (2)

Estee Lauder Double Wear Nude Water Fresh Makeup (reviewed here). I got through about 1/3rd of this foundation which isn’t bad. This is a staple item that I used everytime I wore makeup so it was easy to use up a decent amount this month. It’s a foundation that I like but am not completely in love with, so I’m happy that I’ve been using it up. I kind of want to use it up and clear it from my stash!

ProjectPanMonthly_April_LBL (3)

Ciate London Bamboo Bronzer (reviewed here). Now this is a product I made some progress with! I actually hit pan! woohoo! I wore this every single time I put on makeup so I feel like it was really easy to get good use out of it. Plus, bronzer is a product I use all over my face, down my neck and chest so it’s not hard to use it up.

My April Items

ProjectPanMonthly_April_LBL (5)

This month I’ve chosen;

  • One Eyeshadow Palette – Tarte Tartelette In Bloom Palette (reviewed here)
  • One Lip Item – Bite Beauty Lip Pencil in 020 Beige Nude
  • One Face Item – Ciate London Bamboo Bronzer (reviewed here)
  • One Random Item – Shiseido Ibuki Smart Filtering Smoother

ProjectPanMonthly_April_LBL (6)

I figured I would keep my Ciate Bronzer in the Project Pan for April in hopes I can use up more of the product and maybe completely use it up.

I also wanted to try using up a lip liner this month and see if I’m more consistant with that compared to lipstick. So far, I feel like it’s something I’m reaching for when I apply makeup. Here’s hoping I get to a point where I need to sharpen the Bite lip liner a few times.

ProjectPanMonthly_April_LBL (8)

The Shiseido Ibuki Smoother is an interesting product because it’s more like a primer you put on after your makeup. I hardly use this product so I’m hoping I can use it up during this project pan month.

How is your progress been for Project Pan this month? Have you noticed a difference in your products?

Lots of Love,
Dal

Bronze it Up! My Current Bronzer Collection

I love wearing bronzers to give dimension and glow to my face. I was going through my collection and noticed I had four in my current rotation. I thought I’d go through some of the bronzers, especially since I have one of them in my Project Pan for March.

Physicians Formula Super BB Instaready Bronzer

BronzerCollectionLBL2

I picked this up at GenBeauty 3 years ago and the bronzer is still going strong! This was part of my Project Pan in 2018 which you can read the round-up of here. I did hit pan with this item but it’s so dry that it ended up crumbling and I had to press it back together, hence the pan looking quite bumpy.

BronzerCollectionLBL3

I like this bronzer because it gives a really sutble hint of colour. Just enough that it’s noticeable on my skin, which is great because when I’m in a rush out the door I don’t have to worry about blending it out too much. If I wear contour, I tend to prefer to blend that out with this bronzer because it’s very cool toned and helps everything look smooth.

Ciate London Bamboo Bronzer (Sample)

BronzerCollectionLBL4

This guy is in my current Project Pan for March so I definitely wanted to include a little review of it here. The formula is very smooth so it looks really pretty on the skin. It is a lot more pigmented in comparison to the Physicians Formula bronzer so I do have to be careful that I don’t over apply it and make sure that I blend this out very well.

BronzerCollectionLBL5

This is warm-toned so I prefer to wear this when I’m wearing warmed toned eyeshadow and blush or else it can look muddy on me. I’ve been diligent about using this so I have hit pan which I’m very excited about.  I love wearing this in my crease as well, so it has doubled as an eyeshadow for me.

Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Bronzing Powder (mini size)

BronzerCollectionLBL6

I must say that I’m always repurchasing this particular bronzer because when it comes to shade, pigmentation and formula I’m most comfortable using this. It’s as pigmented as the Ciate London Bronzer but the cool shade is a better match for my skin tone so it looks a lot more natural on me. This formula really blends into the skin rather than sits on top so overall it does look more flattering on me.

BronzerCollectionLBL7

My one qualm with this palette is that I’m not into the box packaging. If I had room in my magnetic palette I would de-pot this. I don’t think you’d have the same issue with the regular size, but my bronzer brush hardly fits in the mini size so it never picks up product equally. I know this is the Benefit style packaging, but it’s pretty bulky.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit – Volume 4 Bronzer in Filtered Bronze Light

BronzerCollectionLBL8

I originally wasn’t going to include this bronzer because the palette is no longer available and I couldn’t find this colour in the single style compact but I am loving the formula and you can get other shades in this range from Hourglass.

BronzerCollectionLBL10

This palette is recent to my collection so I haven’t used it too often, but whenever I have I am always so happy with how it looks on my skin. The bronzer is so finely milled and so soft that it really melts into the skin. It’s lightly pigmented like my Physicians Formula bronzer which again I like because I can quickly apply it and be out the door. This, however, has a slight sheen to it which really makes my skin glow.

BronzerCollectionLBL9

Mix it with the other face powders in this palette and my skin looks so nice and healthy which is a happy change for me compared it looking really dry. The only downside is that the pan is pretty small and my bronzing brush is large so I find I have to be careful I don’t mix in the other colours.

Swatches

BronzerCollectionLBL11

There you have it, my little collection of current bronzers that I rotate through on a daily basis. What bronzers are in your collection? What bronzer do you love the most and why?

Unboxing Topbox, March 2019

Price: $12.00 CAD (plus tax, free shipping) 4 items.

Topbox is a Canadian monthly beauty subscription service. Each month you have the option of getting a surprise box or to swap it for a prive box where all the products are from one brand or fall within a theme and you know what they are. This month I got a surprise box!

March will be my last Topbox for 2019. Until I end my no-buy for this year I’m going to put this hold for now.

ALL PRICES IN CANADIAN DOLLARS.

Chapstick Total Hydration Lip Balm in Vanilla
$4.97 (3.5 g), this is a full size item

UnboxingTopboxMarch2019_LBL (5)

I’ve been using lip balm quite a bit the last few months and I’m happy I have this new one to open once my current chapstick is used up! This has advocado oil, coconut oil and shea butter. I think it’s supposed to smell and taste like Vanilla. The only thing I would have liked better was to get one of the tinted balms, but I’m really happy to have this.

MesmorEyes Lashes
$5.99, this is a full size item\

UnboxingTopboxMarch2019_LBL (3)

Topbox had asked if I would want to try lashes when I was completing their monthly survey before receiving the box. I said yes because I always like to keep a pair of lashes on hand. I don’t wear lashes often, only during special occasions. These are designed to fit the shape of your eye which is great if you have issues with lashes cooperating to fit.

UnboxingTopboxMarch2019_LBL (4)

The style I have is 220 and is designed to fit almond, monolid, and hooded eyes. Since I have almond eyes I’m excited to try lashes designed to fit me. The style is natural but full so it will look really nice when I wear them out. I’m excited to give these a try.

Doucce Ultra Precision Eyeliner in Blue
$22.00, this is a full size item

UnboxingTopboxMarch2019_LBL (7)

I’m happy I got a blue liner to wear as we roll into spring! Spring is always a time I’m into wearing brighter and more colourful makeup.

UnboxingTopboxMarch2019_LBL (9)

I would wear this in my waterline or as a winged liner. The blue is really pigmented and the formula seems really good. It glides on easily and doesn’t smudge. The Liner is long wearing and waterproof.

Delia Organics Nail & Cuticle Oil
$11.99 (10mL), this is a full size item

UnboxingTopboxMarch2019_LBL (2)

Another item I enjoy, cuticle oil! I received a nail & cuticle oil in my BoxyCharm some time ago and I use it quite a bit. Since I don’t actually paint my fingernails, I like keeping the nail and cuticle area healthy and shiny with these oils, they also help with preventing cracked skin around the nail. This has sweet almond oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil, rosehip oil, to name a few ingredients.

Manna Kadar Beauty Miracle Balm
$25.28 (6.5mL), this is a full size item

UnboxingTopboxMarch2019_LBL (6)

This is designed to be an all over balm that you can use on your lips, nails, and other areas of the body to rehydrate. It’s enriched with Argan Oil, Vitamin A & Vitamin E. I have received balms like this before from Cake Beauty and Dr. Lipp and I absolutely love them because I just keep them at work or in my pocket and use as needed.

My Thoughts

Overall, this is a really great box. I’m so happy with every item and know I’m going to use them right away. I’m most excited about the eyeliner and the chapstick. I’m also impressed that this is the first time I’ve received all full-size items in Topbox!

UnboxingTopboxMarch2019_LBL (10)

Total Value: $70.23 (I think this is the highest value I’ve ever received in a Topbox)

Did you get Topbox this month? What was in your box?

Morphe X Jaclyn Hill: Palette Collection Review Series

Ever since this palette was announced by Jaclyn Hill and Morphe and I saw the shades I really wanted it. Once Morphe started selling their products on Sephora Canada I purchased the palette and I’ve been happy with it so far. Since this is part of my Project Pan Monthly for March it made sense that I put up a review for it.

MorphexJaclynH_LBL (4)

What It Is

A palette with 35 dreamy shades, created in collaboration with YouTuber Jaclyn Hill. Mattes, shimmers, satins, foils, and glitters are all pressed to perfection—just the way Jaclyn wanted. (Sephora.ca)

Price

$49.99 CAD (56.2g – $1.12/g). I bought mine during the Sephora VIB sale and saved myself 20%.

MorphexJaclynH_LBL (5)

Packaging

This is a large palette so it just barely fits into my makeup case. It’s 9″ x 6.5″ in size, it is thin though which I like. I’ve had my palette for a while now so it’s starting to get dirty but I do like white with silver lettering, it’s very Jaclyn Hill aesthetic. I don’t mind that there isn’t a mirror in this one only because I think it would make the palette feel heavy. I like the layout of the shades because I can easily see looks with this palette before I start putting them together.

MorphexJaclynH_LBL (6)

Colour

This has mostly has brown shades with a few pops of blues and greens. For me, it’s a palette that I’m very comfortable wearing because I can easily pick out shades that work well together without having to think too much about it.

I feel like a few colours are similar (ex. Enlight & Beam, Silk Cream & M.F.E.o., and Soda Pop & Abyss), but for the most part a lot of the shades are different tones of each other which I think is actually great.

MorphexJaclynH_Swatches_LBL

One of the biggest critiques I have of this palette is that both Enlight & Beam are shimmer shades, I really wish one of them was matte. I also wish that they replace Soda Pop with a different colour, since it looks similar to Abyss on me. No matter weather it’s the lightest shades, the shimmers or the various mattes, these are all bold and pigmented colours.

Application & Wear

First off, I’ve never tried Morphe shadows, but if all the formula is similar to this one than I can see why people enjoy the brand. They look really great on, even the shades above that look like they’ll be patchy based on my finger swatches (Enchanted, Jacz, Pukey, Mocha) blend out nicely on the eyes. The shimmers are super creamy and look good on the lid without me needing to use a primer or Fix+. The mattes are great builder shades and the darker shades add so much depth to a look without needing to use a lot.

MorphexJaclynH_LBL (8)

For a lot of my day to day looks I find I’ll swipe Enlight or Beam all over the lid and then take Silk Cream into my cream, blend it all out and be on my way with a nice strong wing. When I want a deeper look, I love have so many warm tones to choose from, there are cool tone browns, or red-brown shades, or neutral browns that help me create so many varying looks. I didn’t know that different brown options would become so important to me! LOL!

I also like having a few colour options, which for me are easier to incorporate. I created such a beautiful pink look using this palette. I’ve worn purple shades, blue shades and my favourite, green shades, in the lower lid when I was looking for pops of colour.

These wear so well too! I have no issues with these shades lasting all day on me and I like wearing them because I know they will last.

My Looks

The first look is taken from my Pink Makeup Look Post where I used the shades Faint & Sissy on my lids along with some shades from my Too Faced Peach Palette.

MorphexJaclynH_Eyelook2_LBL

In the look below, I used Silk Cream in the crease just to have something for the brighter shades to blend in with. I then used Jadas on the outer half of my lid and blended into the inner half of my lid to give it a more ombre effect. For the lid I used Pool Party, and to help keep the look bright and lessen the intensity of the colours I added Obsessed into the inner corner of my eye and blended it gently on the lids.

MorphexJaclynH_eyelook_LBL

On the lower lash, I took my NYX Jumbo Pencil in French Fries into the waterline just to add a little bit of bronze to help balance out all the teal.

My Thoughts

If I could edit down the palette, I might remove some shades that I think are really similar, but overall I love the colours and love how they blend. For a palette with different shades of brown, I think that they can all help create different looks and I like that I can easily pick out shades from this palette to put together without much hesitation. I’m impressed with the formula and pigmentation so I would recommend it.

Have you tried the Jaclyn Hill or any Morphe palettes? I would love to know your thoughts!

Dal

Unboxing Topbox, February 2019

Price: $12.00 CAD (plus tax, free shipping) 4 items.

Topbox is a Canadian monthly beauty subscription service. Each month you have the option of getting a surprise box or to swap it for a prive box where all the products are from one brand or fall within a theme and you know what they are. This month I got a surprise box!

Last month I mentioned that I would be cancelling my Topbox. I missed the deadline to cancel this before the March box shipped so I have one coming in March. I’m cancelling it afterwards for the rest of the year. This is to keep in line with my no-buy (exception BoxyCharm) for 2019.

ALL PRICES IN CANADIAN DOLLARS.

Laritzy Cosmetics Lip Stix in Wafer
Full Size: $20.00 (3.6g), this is a full size item

TopboxFebraury@019_LBL (7)

I was pleasantly surprised to see that this was a lip crayon. The outer packaging had me thinking it was another lip gloss and I honestly didn’t want another one of those. Lip crayon though, I’m excited to get! I really love lip crayons because it makes application so much easier. I love the nude colour and this feels really creamy. I’m definitely going to be using it.

Nova Scotia Fisherman Extreme Skin Care Canadian Maple Lip Balm
Full Size: $8.95 (10.4g), Small Size: $4.48 (5.2g)

TopboxFebraury@019_LBL (6)

I love Nova Scotia Fisherman lip balms! I actually discovered this brand through Topbox over 4 years ago and I continue to enjoy them. I love the taste of maple syrup so I’m really looking forward to this agave sweetened lip balm. I find these lip balms the best during the winter months because they are super hydrating.

VDL Cosmetics Perfect Lasting Foundation in V01
Full Size: $37.00 (30mL), Sample Size: $6.17 (5mL)

TopboxFebraury@019_LBL (5)

VDL Cosmetics is a newer brand to me. They are a Korean brand that I think recently started selling in Canada, with a flagship store in Downtown Toronto. I’ve been wanting to visit the store and explore what they offer since it’s very close to where I work. I’m really excited to be testing out the foundation. So far it looks to be very light and liquid but I’m not sure what the coverage will be like. I’m hoping it’s closer to light coverage as that it what I prefer and the shade that I have V01 which is a bit light on me.

VDL Cosmetics Lumilayer Primer
Full Size: $34.00 (30mL), Sample Size $5.67 (5mL)

TopboxFebraury@019_LBL (3)

What better way to test out the foundation, then to also use the primer from the brand as well. I’m happy that Topbox included two items from the same brand that can be used together (or on their own) it’s just a good way to test out more items from VDL. This has a violet pigment to brighten the skin. I’m really excited to try this since I love items that brighten or add some glow.

Manna Kadar Goddess Palette Split Pan Eye shadow
Full Size: $49.00 (palette), Split Pan duo: Price unknown

TopboxFebraury@019_LBL (4)

I did some digging online and it looks like these two shades are actually part of a bigger palette called the Goddess Palette, see it here. The colours I have are Venus (blush colour), and Iris (shimmery golden highlight shade). The pans are a bit too small to use as blush and highlight but I can definitely use this on the eyes (which is why Topbox is calling this a split pan eye shadow). The formula is super creamy and crumbly so you just need to be careful with application but it looks so pretty.

Swatches

TopboxFebraury@019_LBL (1)

My Thoughts

This is a really good box with a nice mix of different products that I could wear all together. I’m excited to try the items from VDL and I’m super happy to get a lip balm from Nova Scotia Fisherman. I also like that I received a split pan eye shadow, and a lip crayon in colours that I think will work nicely together!

Total Value: $36.25 – I wasn’t able to find the price of the Manna Kadar item so it’s not included here.

Did you get Topbox this month? What was in you box?

Let’s Glow! Wet N’ Wild Megaglo Highlighting Powder Review

When it comes to highlight, I’m really into a natural, lit from within type of look. I always find that bold highlights don’t really work for my style. When I got this in my Topbox back in March I was really happy to see they sent me a shade I’d wear.

What It Is

Infused with ultra-reflective and micro-fine pearl pigments, this baked powder is everything you need to shine radiantly from the inside out. (Wetnwild.com)

WetnWildHightlighter (4)

Price

$6.99 CAD. Surprisingly, Amazon & Walmart Canada has these listed for $12.00-$13.00.  I found them on Well.ca for $6.99 so that’s the price I’m using here.

Colour

This is a pearl/rose shade that is really light and shimmery. My cheeks are pretty rosy and I enjoy wearing a pink or peach blush so I find a highlighter that works with my blush is what I gravitate too.

WetnWildHightlighter (5)

Packaging

The packing is very simple but I do like it. It is square with a clear cover so you can see the colour inside. I love the little flower imprint on the powder itself, it’s a nice touch.

WetnWildHightlighter (3)

Application & Wear

First looking at this highlighter I thought it might be grainy and make my skin look like it had a lot of texture but it looks super smooth on the skin and it feels really creamy. I really enjoy this highlight for everyday because it’s not super intense on initial application. You can layer it if you wanted it to be bolder, but for me I like keeping it on the light side. One time I even put this on top of my lips to add some shine to my lipstick and I thought it looked really pretty like that.

WetnWildHightlighter (2)

This does fade a little by the end of the day, there is still a little glow. I’m sure if I layered this more it would last longer, but since I’d rather keep it natural I’m good with it fading a little after 4 or 5 hours.

All in all, this is a great highlighter and the price is even better. It works as well as any of the high end highlighters I reviewed on my blog (see that post here). I would definitely recommend giving it a try.

Birthday Gifts, Increasing My Makeup Collection

I usually don’t share items that I get as gifts on my birthday as a dedicated post but since I’m on a no-buy this year I thought it would be fun to include them since I won’t be purchasing anything myself and posting any hauls. You might see some of these pop up on the blog later on as reviews or empties 🙂

Smashbox L.A. Cover Shot Eye Palette

Birthday2019_LBL (3)

I’ve reviewed the Smashbox Cover Shot Eye Palettes before that you can read here. I have a total of 4 Cover Shot palettes in my collection and this new one makes 5! The original palettes have 8 shades but this one has 16 shades (9 mattes and 7 shimmers).

Birthday2019_LBL (5)

This seems to have good reviews online so I’m excited about this palette. I like that there is a range of looks you can create, from smokey to everyday to days when you want pops of colour!

Shoppers Drug Mart Eye Studio Sampler Mascaras

Birthday2019_LBL (10)

I love these sets as gifts for others so I’m really happy that I received this myself! Basically, you get 9 mascara samples to test out and a gift certificate to trade in for one full size mascara from the 9 you have tried.

Birthday2019_LBL (1)

It’s a great way to test out new mascaras. I know there are a few in here that I already love, but I am curious about testing out the one from Lise Waiter, Pur Cosmetics and Clarins!

Aveda Stress-Fix Body Lotion

Birthday2019_LBL (8)

I love the scent of lavender because it’s so calming. A friend of mine is always getting me this lotion because she knows I like to use it in the evenings before going to bed because the scent helps me relax before sleep. It’s also hydrating which is perfect for my dry skin!

Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist

Birthday2019_LBL (9)

This wasn’t necessarily a gift from a friend but more like a gift for myself from BoxyCharm. Through purchases and reviews on BoxyCharm you collect points which you can redeem on their website for makeup, skincare and tools. I had accumulated enough points to trade in for the Tatcha skin mist that I figured why not! I’m excited to give it a try as I know this has a lot of good reviews.

Your Quilt Creations Tripple Zipper Anything. Everything Pouch Bag

Birthday2019_LBL (6)

When I got this bag I immediately thought it would make a fantastic makeup bag for traveling. I love how there are little zipper and open compartments that can be used to store everything I might need to take with me on a trip. It has these great handles to carry around and it opens up super wide so you can see everything you have at a glance.

Birthday2019_LBL (7)

You may not know, but I’m obsessed with Batman and DC comics so I thought the design was super cute! I tried to find their store on Etsy and the web but had no luck, but I found them on Facebook. I really think it’s important to support local business owners and this bag is awesome!

Have you tried any of the items above? I’d love to know your thoughts.

Festive Makeup Look, Sparkly Eyes & Red Lips

Hold the phone! Christmas is less then a week away! WOOOOOHOOOO!!!!!

Today I thought I’d do full-on Christmas glam! Sparkly eyes and Red lips! I like this look so much I think I might wear this for a Christmas Eve Party I will be attending. Something about the combination of full-on glitter lids and a red lip that just feels like the holidays.

Festive Makeup Look_Sparkles & Red Lip collage

For the eyes, I used my Smashbox Cover Shot Palette in Minimalist to get a base going. I used the warm-toned shades on the left side of the palette below. I mostly kept to the light brown on the very left of the palette in my crease and on my lid with a touch of the dark brown to deepen crease.

Festive Makeup Look_Sparkles & Red Lip (6)

I used some concealer mixed with glitter glue (I use Too Faced) to cut the crease halfway on my lid starting from the inner portion of the lid to the center. Then I used the light brown shade again to blend out any harsh edges.

Festive Makeup Look_Sparkles & Red Lip (7)

Over the area I had applied the concealer, I used the shimmer and glitter side of the Tarte Pro Glitter Liner in Gold. I applied my Stila Glitter and Glow Liquid Eye Shadow in Diamond Dust over the areas I had applied the Tarte liner. The silver glitter in Diamond Dust worked so well with the gold. I wanted to make this as sparkly as possible which is why I used both of these products. I kept my lids semi-closed to allow them to dry so that the glitters would not transfer on to my lid.

To finish it all off, I lined my eyes using my Covergirl Get in Line Liquid Liner which I mentioned in my Strong Wing and Fluttery Eyes festive makeup look.

Festive Makeup Look_Sparkles & Red Lip (8)

For the lips, I did a combo of Two Faced Melted Matte Liquified Lipstick in Lady Balls and Iman Luxury Moisturizing Lipstick in Scandalous. These are both very similar reds and wearing them together helped keep the lip long lasting and comfortable. I don’t usually wear red lipsticks but this was so flattering that I think I might wear them more often.

Festive Makeup Look_Sparkles & Red Lip (9)

This look is so fun to put together. It definitely is very Christmas themed and beautiful.

Do you have any plans for Christmas Eve?

In case I don’t have another post up before the 25th, I just wanted to wish you a Merry Christmas!

Festive Makeup Look, Strong Wing & Fluttery Lashes

I rarely post makeup looks on the blog, but for the holidays I thought I’d share some I know I’ll be rocking for December.

I do a lot of celebrating during the month. There are work parties, potlucks, lunches, friends-mas, cousins-mas, Xmas Eve and day, and let’s not forget topping it all off with New Year’s Eve!! In a nutshell, I’m busy eating, drinking and celebrating with those I love.

I find that during this time I really like to play around with makeup. Today I’m sharing the winged eyeliner and fluttery lash look I shared on my Instagram a week ago.

HolidayMakeup_Covergirl (10)I received these items in a recent Influenster package and I couldn’t wait to put together this look!

I love a good wing because it frames my large eyes and is pretty fun yet still elegant.

I start off with a skin-toned base all over the lid and just use bronzer in the crease to give my eyes depth. I then hold my breath as I create an exaggerated wing. If you mess up, a little micellar water or makeup remover on a small brush always does the trick to clean it up.

HolidayMakeup_Covergirl (7)

The eyeliner I used is the Covergirl Get in Line Liquid Liner. This has a fine 0.1 mm tip so I can create a really sharp wing. I also like it for getting super close to the lash line. This formula is liquid but not runny and is super black. It dries down quick but I still have time to work on the wing before it fully sets. I like it. It’s also has a comfortable grip which helps keep my hand steady.

HolidayMakeup_Covergirl (4)

To finish off the eyes I applied Covergirl Exhibitionist Mascara. I find that it coats my lashes well and the shape of the brush helps to fan out the lashes for a full and fluttery look.

HolidayMakeup_Covergirl (5)

The mascara doesn’t give me all the length I’m looking for but it’s great with the wing because it draws attention to my eyes, it’s a mascara I enjoy wearing during the day because it’s bold but not too dramatic. I have this in the very black shade which is a very intense black.

Since we’re on the Covergirl train, I finished the look off with Covergirl’s Exhibitionist Cream Lipstick in Sweetheart Blush. This is a metallic baby pink shade. I think this looks best on me as a lip topper. It is a very comfortable formula that is balm-like. This comes in 27 shades.

HolidayMakeup_Covergirl (6)

I would wear this look during the day for an office event or holiday lunch because it’s a bit extra to how I do my makeup usually for work. Plus it’s a very quick look to put together in the morning that will last me the whole day.

HolidayMakeup_Covergirl (1)

Do you like wearing a bold eyeliner and fluttery lashes?

Lots of Love,
Dal

I received the items mentioned above complimentary from Influenster.

Milk Makeup Hydrating Oil Stick Review

I was surprised by this product that I thought I just have to share! I bought the Milk Makeup Hydrating Oild Stick at a Sephora sale and really didn’t think much of it. I was curious about the gel formula and trying something from Milk Makeup since I had not tried anything from the brand. This sat in my unopened collection of makeup and skincare for about 6 months before I finally took it out of my stash and started using it.

$29.00 CAD (1 oz). For a moisturizer-like product, I think the cost is not too bad. It’s about mid-range between drugstore and beauty store. Plus, I bought mine at the Sephora VIB Sale so I saved 20% off the price.

Packaging

It’s a large tube which makes it easy to apply all over the face and body, albeit not the most hygienic applicator, but I only use it on myself. I like that it’s twist-up which exposes more product as needed and the lid screws on tight so I don’t have to worry about it drying out. A lot of Milk Makeup products are housed this way which makes them good for quick application.

I don’t know much about Milk Makeup but it just seems like they are a brand that focuses on minimal effort to achieve makeup looks. Most items are in a gel or liquid formula which make it easy to apply onto the skin using your fingers or very few brushes. If you know anything about this brand, let me know! I’d love to learn more!

I like that the packaging is simple. There are no frills, just a simple, sturdy, clear plastic tube with white lettering. I only wish that the lettering was a different colour so I can easily spot this. Sometimes I feel it gets lost among my other products.

Application & Wear

This applies very easily, I just apply it directly to my face (I have not tried this on my body). I have dry skin and this instantly hydrates. After I wash my face and apply serum, I will apply the hydrating oil to the areas of my face that feel the driest and tight. That’s usually my cheeks, forehead and chin. I then follow up with any other moisturizers and blend it all in with my hand. This is slick and it helps to spread any other product I apply. Even though it’s an oil, it does not feel greasy at all, it is more like a gel moisturizer.

I like this underneath makeup as a hydrating primer. It helps my makeup stick and reduces the dry look on my face. I have tried it once over makeup and it’s not bad like that as well. It acts like a makeup setting spray that melts your makeup into place, but much more hydrating and you’re left with a bit of glow. What I did was pat it over my makeup and it instantly brought back a glow.

I am really enjoying this hydrating oil stick. Out of all the moisturizers I’ve been using, this is probably my favourite. My skin feels hydrated and looks healthy. If I want to look glowy without makeup I’ll just apply this guy over my bare face and be on my way.

My Thoughts

For something I threw into my makeup collection and forgot all about I’m pretty bummed I didn’t just open this sooner! It’s a great hydrating product and it has some pretty interesting oil ingredients. I think in the last few weeks my skin has felt great, and I think it might have something to do with this product!
