Review: First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser

I keep two types of cleansers on my vanity. One is always a gentle, every day type cleanser. The other is a gritty, exfoliating deep cleansing one. Throughout the week I’ll switch through them. Most days I use a gentle cleanser and then I’ll use my exfoliating cleanser a few times a week inbetween. Then, on lazy days I just use micellar water or a makeup wipe and call it a day! Hehe!

If you wanted to read my makeup remover post you can here.

Next week I’ll share a review of my Vasanti Cosmetics Exfoliating Cleanser but today I wanted to share a review of the gentle cleanser I’ve been enjoying. My First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser.

FirstAidBeautyReview_LBL (1)

What It Is

A fragrance-free, gentle cleanser that effectively removes makeup, dirt, and grime, leaving skin soft and supple. (Sephora.ca)

I read that this is good for dryness and redness. I suffer from dry skin so I always love cleansers that are designed to be hydrating. This has aloe and glycerin which nourishes, and hydrates the skin and FAB Antioxidant Booster to help with environmental agressors.

This is Allergy-Tested, Gluten-Free, Nut-Free, Oil-Free, Soy-Free, Suitable for Sensitive Skin, Vegan, Nano-Free. (FirstAidBeauty.com)

Price

$14.00 CAD (2oz). This is pretty reasonably priced especially since you need very little when washing your face. A pea-sized amount is enough for me.

FirstAidBeautyReview_LBL (7)

Application

This is a very creamy cleanser that doesn’t foam up too much. The texture reminds me of Origin’s Checks & Balances cleanser because it’s a thicker consistency. Whenever I use it I find that it feels more like cleanser/moisturizer hybrid. It feels very good.

FirstAidBeautyReview_LBL (4)

I think it’s super effective at removing makeup. Like, really effective. It might be one of the best makeup removing cleansers I’ve ever tried. It’s very gentle and doesn’t sting my eyes which makes it a dream for removing makeup around my eyes and lashes which is where I tend to wear the heaviest makeup. Even if a little gets in my eyes, it won’t sting them like other cleansers have in the past. It leaves my skin feeling super clean, when I rinse it off. I dry my face with a white towel and a rarely get makeup residue on it. I don’t even need to use a makeup wipe before or after, it’s really good on its own.

My skin always feels really clean, but unlike a harsh cleanser, it still leaves it feeling supple. I find that my skin just feels good and clear and I usually just apply a serum or moisturizer afterwards and call it a day.

FirstAidBeautyReview_LBL (3)

My Thoughts

I’ve tried sample packets of this cleanser and liked it but this is my first time using a whole tube of it consistently over the last few weeks. Generally, my skin doesn’t feel tight or dry and it hasn’t been irritated by this product. It’s very good. I would wholeheartedly recommend this! If you are looking for a good every day, gentle cleanser, this is the one!

Have you tried the First Aid Beauty Cleanser? What are your thoughts? Have you tried anything else from this brand?

Lots of Love,
Dal

Review, Hightlighter Collection

I was going through my makeup box the other day and organizing a lot of it’s contents. Since the time I started sharing my empties each month, I’ve been much more diligent about using up items I have open, rather than just opening new ones. I have quite a lot of highlighters that I haven’t started using and there a select few that I have.

Hightlighter Collection Review_LBL1

Currently, there are four hightlighters I have in rotation. When you think about how little you need to highlight and how much product a lot of pans hold, I know that these hightlighters will last me a long time. I use highlighter a few times a week and the ones I’m sharing with you below are ones that I really do enjoy.

Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Glow Palette (Holiday 2015)

Hightlighter Collection Review_LBL7

This one is an oldie but a goodie! I think this was the first Champagne Pop face collection palette that was released after Champagne Pop first came onto the scene and really put highlighters and Becca Cosmetics on the map in my opinion. I use Pearl (pale white shade) and Champagne Pop (peachy-pinky centre shade) the most, however, I have used Blushed Copper (warm copper/red shade) over the eyes before.

Hightlighter Collection Review_LBL6

Pearl and Champagne Pop look good on their own on me, but I actually love mixing these two colours together. This highlight is definitely my going-out, in your face highlight combo because it’s very intense for me. Champagne Pop is such a nice highlight on my skin tone and although there have been so many new highlighters that are very similar to it, I still just love using this. It’s very pearl-like on the face. Even though this palette isn’t available for purchase the individual shades are because they are part of the Becca Permanent Line.

CoverFX Custom Enhancer Drops in MoonLight

Hightlighter Collection Review_LBL9

Speaking of in your face highlighter, the Costom Enhancer Drops from CoverFx are soooooo intense! You really need to be careful with how much you apply but with the perfect amount I can get a very silky looking highlight. This little bottle is actually part of my Project Pan for 2018, but I like it so much that I might splurge on a large bottle once this is done.

Hightlighter Collection Review_LBL8

With dry skin, I always want to look super dewy. What I’ve started to do, thanks to suggestions from stashy and mufavorites is mixing a little drop of this in my foundation and moisturizers. It gives me a really nice all over glow and doesn’t look too sparkly.

Vintage Cosmetics Illuminating Face Highlighter in Rose Gold

Hightlighter Collection Review_LBL4

When I first received this product in my December BoxyCharm, I was worried that it would be too sparkly. After using it a few times, I found that it wasn’t as sparkly as I thought and find that the glow on this is very subtle. It has a pretty pink colour that I enjoy wearing over my cheeks as a blush topper.

I like the gold shift in this highlighter so if I’m going for a more warm makeup look I find it ties tge look together. I’m so happy to have discovered this through my subscription box!

Tarte Cosmetics Amazonian Clay in Exposed

Hightlighter Collection Review_LBL5

Another item from my Project Pan, I have a highlighter from Tarte that I both like and dislike. I love the concept of a nude highlight because sometimes I just want my highlight to be barely there but just give me the tiniest glow when light hits my face. This highlight definitely does that which I really love. The only thing is I’m not sure if the product doesn’t stick to my skin very long or if after sometime I stop noticing it, but sometimes after a few hours it feels like it disappears.

It’s one of those highlights that I’ll wear during the day when I don’t want to go full out with my makeup. make my OK highlighter, I don’t hate it but it doesn’t get me as excited as the ones I mentioned above.

Swatches!

Hightlighter Collection Review_LBL10

Thoughts

Well there you have it! All the highlighters I’m using right niw. One that I missed including but love is my Mary-LouManizer by The Balm.

The colour range of these all fall within the peachy/pinky zone which I like the best on my skin. I think after reviewing these, I might be open to new suggestions. I do have a hightlighter from Wet N’ Wild that I received in my March Topbox that I’m tempted to crack open!

What’s your favourite hightlighter? Have any suggestions for me to try next?

Lots of Love,
Dal

Bye Bye Empties, June 2018

It is finally summer! Woohoo! The last few days in Toronto have been HOT and I love it! I’m naturally always cold so I enjoy being really warm. It’s been a busy month for work, but now that our move is done I can go back to focusing on more personal items. I have some fun stuff planned for July and depending on what I end up doing I might share some of them on the blog.

Last month I used up so many products that I wasn’t surprised I only had 5 empties for June. I still wanted to share them because then I can let you know my thoughts and I personally like to keep a record of it for myself too!

Skincare

June Empties 2018_LBL (3)

L’Oreal Revitalift Bright Reveal Brightening Day Lotion. Last month I used up the brightening daily pads and this month I’ve used up day lotion. I’m sure next month I’ll use up the night cream and daily scrub that came in this range I received from Influenster. This has 30 SPF which isn’t high, but was still good for at least the winter and early spring when I was using this the most. Unlike a lot of creams I own this one didn’t absorb into my skin as quickly as others I’ve used, but it was really mositurizing and I did like the added sun protection. I do have other daily lotions I enjoy so I wouldn’t repurchase this one.

Yves Rocher Sebo Specific Ultra Clean Purifying Cream Cleanser. I used this maybe once a week whenever I wanted to deep clean my skin. It has a clay-like consistancy with little micro-exfoliants. I really did enjoy this so I would repurchase it.

Clinque Super City Block 40 SPF. Over the past few years I’ve been wearing this under my makeup to protect it in the sun. If you’re interested in a full review of this product you can read it here. The consistancy was a bit thick so I would mix a little bit of my moisturizer in this. Since first testing this product I’ve tried many other daily moisturizing sunscreens that I prefer, including one from Garnier which you can read about here. I won’t be repurchasing this.

Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate. According to Shiseido’s website this strengthens skin against daily damage and visible signs of aging for skin that’s 28% stronger in just 1 week. I always just think of it as a magical skincare product because it just works so well on my skin to enhance the effects of whatever moisturizer I wear. I feel like my skin feels a lot firmer whenever I use this. It’s a very nice serum. It’s a pretty expensive product, but I’ve been collecting little sample sizes of this so I still have a few more before I run out. One of these tiny 10ml bottles actually lasts me about two months because you don’t need to use to much.

Oral Care

June Empties 2018_LBL (4)

Marvis Toothpaste. For my birthday a few months back I asked for Marvis toothpaste and my cousins were sweet enough to get me a trial set of their different flavours (my pack had licorice, ginger, lavendar and various mint flavours). My first empty of this line is the Ginger Mint which I thought was really tasty! I don’t really like a lot of toothpastes because the mint in them can be harsh, but the mint taste in the Marvis toothpaste is stuble and the ginger flavour isn’t overbearing or spicy which I liked a lot. It leaves me with fresh breath and super clean feeling teeth. If you dislike most drugstore toothpaste you might enjoy these. I’m currently testing other flavours but I think I’m hooked for life and would continue to repurchase these.

So that’s it! Only five empties to share for the month, but I have a feeling I’ll have more for next month. What products did you use up in June? Ever have a month where you don’t use up as many items as you hoped?

Lots of love,
Dal

Favourites from the Boxes: February & March 2018

It’s been difficult using items from my subscription boxes because I really want to use up my Project Pan items. There are still items that I have been testing and using lately so I wanted to share them here. I enjoy sharing the items I love in my boxes and doing the mini-reviews here because I think it’s useful if anyone was debating getting a subscription box.

There are also some items I get that I don’t enjoy. It’s not as often but I might start sharing the Unloves from the boxes every once in a while too.

RealHer Blush Kit
Received in BoxyCharm December 2017

Favourites_FebMar_LBL (3)

When you first look at the pans you might think, oh boy some of those are bright, but they are a beautiful sheer wash of colour on the cheeks. I have been using the colours Fearless and Limitless the most in this palette and I think they are wonderful for my everyday makeup looks.

Favourites_FebMar_LBL (4)

The formula is really smooth so it doesn’t patch up on my skin. Fearless looks very shimmery in the pan but it actually applies matte with just a subtle sheen that makes my cheeks look highlighted.

Favourites_FebMar_LBL (9)

Limitless  looks like a really bright coral but it actually just enhances my natural cheek colour and appears natural on the skin. I’m super impressed with both of these. Although I have not used Unstoppable yet, I will give it a try when I want a more bronzy blush.

Crown Pro Blush Brush
Received in BoxyCharm February 2018

Favourites_FebMar_LBL (5)

I may have just received this brush but it immediately replaced my older angled blush brush. I use this all the time and I love that it’s dense at the base but fluffy at the top so  application of blush is very sheer and easy to build up.

Favourites_FebMar_LBL (6)

The brush is super soft and although I don’t love the thickness of the handle, it’s very light. I think it’s a very cute style with the all white and pink tips. This came in a trio and although I also enjoy the medium sized brush for concealer, this is my favourite of the three.

Professional Sebastian Shaper Plus Extra Hold Hairspray
Received in Topbox November 2017

Favourites_FebMar_LBL (7)

I didn’t use too much hairspray before but now that I’ve cut my hair I like to applying it whenever I style my hair. I love this hairspray, and it’s not like anything I’ve used before. It holds my style all day but my hair still feels really soft to the touch and it actually makes it super shiny.

Favourites_FebMar_LBL (8)

I wash my hair every few days and I like that it keeps my hair feeling good and not stiff at all. The nozzle is great because it disperses the product evenly and thiny through my hair. This was a small sample but I hope that it lasts me a while. I know I’m likely going to get this in a full size when it empties.

There you have it! Items I have been loving from my subscription boxes the last few months. Are there any items in your boxes you have been enjoying?

Unboxing BoxyCharm, March 2018

Price: $21.00 USD (+$5.00 shipping to Canada)
Number of items: 4-5 full-size items

Boxycharm is a monthly subscription box of full-size makeup, skincare and beauty tools. The theme for this month is “Bae Cation”. The theme is fun and I love the tropical print on the card. A lot of the makeup in this month box is bright and colourful and I think they tie well with the theme.

If you read my unboxing post last month, you’ll know that BoxyCharm experienced some issues getting the boxes into Canada and my shipment was delayed. I got my BoxyCharm in a reasonable time this month. I hope that the customs issue they encountered last month has been resolved.

Prices are in USD converted to CAD at the end.

PUR The Complexion Authority Eyeshadow Palette
MSRP: $36.00 USD

UnboxingBoxyCharm_March2018_LBL' (3)

This palette was created as a collaboration between PUR and BoxyCharm and I think the colours are absolutely gorgeous! I swatched a few shades (see below) and they appear to be super pigmented and soft.

UnboxingBoxyCharm_March2018_LBL' (5)

This is the second PUR palette I’ve received in a BoxyCharm. I never opened the other one (although I loved those colours too) because it was neutral so I thought it would make a perfect gift and was holding on to it. This one, however, I want to wear myself.

Butter London Double Decker Lashes Mascara
MSRP: $20.00 USD

UnboxingBoxyCharm_March2018_LBL' (10)

This is supposedly going to give you 200% thicker lashes in just one coat and 314% increased lash curl! haha! I love that it’s 314%, how do they measure these things! This looks to be a standard brush style and I’m looking forward to trying it, but I have a few opened mascaras that I’m using up to start.

South Mane Beauty Under Eye Gels
MSRP: $10.00 USD

UnboxingBoxyCharm_March2018_LBL' (11)

I like under eye masks because I find they are great for that awake look and are moisturizing the under eye area. I look forward to trying these masks out and sharing my thoughts. I also appreciate being sent the pack of three because I can then test them out consistently.

The Vintage Cosmetic Company Smokey Eye Makeup Brush Set
MSRP: $23.15 USD

UnboxingBoxyCharm_March2018_LBL' (8)

Another product from the Vintage Cosmetic Company! I have a highlighter I received in my December Box that I’ve been enjoying so much so I’m glad that I’m slowly being introduced to this UK brand through BoxyCharm. I read on their website that they will launch in Canada in 2018! I sure hope that it is soon because I would love to try more. I love the vintage vibe.

UnboxingBoxyCharm_March2018_LBL' (9)

The set is supposed to help you create a smokey eye look and I love that each brush is numbered with a cute reference to the Elvis song, Blue Suede Shoes, but with a shadow twist on it. It’s darn cute!

Pretty Vulgar Make Them Blush in Prim Vixen
MSRP: $26.00 USD

UnboxingBoxyCharm_March2018_LBL' (6)

When I first opened this blush I was nervous that the pink was going to be super bright and way too pigmented. I’m pleasantly surprised that this is actually really light and buildable so it won’t look like a hot pink strip across my face when I wear it. I included a swatch below where I used my finger to really build up the colour so you could see it on camera but in person, it’s subtle.

UnboxingBoxyCharm_March2018_LBL' (7)

I’m glad I decided to swatch it and not judge the colour as it appeared in the pan. One thing I’m not a fan of is how cheap the packaging feels. It’s like a kids makeup type of plastic and I really don’t like it. For something that sells at Sephora at the price point above I would have thought it would be a better plastic. Either way, the colour is amazing and I love it, just an observation.

My Thoughts

I am happy with EVERYTHING in this box. Last month I had some hits and misses but this month is all hits! All the items would work really well together and I like that this goes with the theme of vacation because you could literally take everything in this box on vacation with you. Total value of the box; $115.15 USD ($148.51 CAD)

Did you get BoxyCharm this month? What did you think of your box? Get anything different than me?

Review Update: GrandeLASH™ MD Lash Enhancing Serum, One Tube Later

I wanted to do an update on the results I’ve been experiencing since I started using the  GrandeLash MD Lash Enhancing Serum.

Take a read at my original review where I talk about my first 8 weeks of using the product. In that post, I go in-depth on the application and other product details. The instructions said users would get the full results in 3 months, so here we are!

GrandLash_Update_LBL (4)

NOTE: Although I tried to be as consistent as possible there were some nights that I simply forgot to use this. I still see results but I think if I was more diligent with applying this every night they might have been better!

After finishing up a whole bottle this is what my lashes look like!

GrandLash_Update_LBL (1)

This after using the whole tube. If you want to see my week-by-week progress, please read my original review here.

GrandLash_Update_LBL (2)

I feel that my photos don’t do this justice. My lashes are not noticeable in the photos, but in person my they are longer and much more curled. They feel thicker to the touch as well.

I see the greatest difference when I’m wearing mascara because I notice how much longer the lashes have become. Since I wear mascara every day I notice that my lashes look a lot more dramatic compared to 3 months ago. I don’t feel like I have more lashes, but that the lashes I do have are longer, thicker and curlier.

I’ve included two sets of photos below from my palette review series posts because you can see the difference my lashes look like with mascara on.

Here’s a photo from my Review of Estee Lauder’s Color Envy Palette from November 2017

Here’s a photo of the same eye, in February when I did a review of the Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes Palette.

I think I used They’re Real mascara in the top photo and Monsieur Big in the bottom photos but those mascaras don’t apply too differently on my lashes. Look at how much furth my lash looks when you compare the length against my crease. I hope you can see that the lashes in the centre of my eye look longer. You can go through my Palette Collection Review Series posts in the tab above and you’ll notice that my lashes have changed from now to three + months ago.

GrandLash_Update_LBL (7)

I’ve been very happy with my lash the results and have already invested in a second tube. After the first three months, you can apply this every other or third day just to maintain the lash length. I wonder how my lashes will look long term. If I notice a bigger difference I will let you know!

Have there been any lash enhancing serums you’ve tried?

Lots of Love,
Dal

Estee Lauder Color Envy Sculpting Eyeshadow: Palette Collection Review Series

I have a lot of 12-14 pan eyeshadows that I write about in this series, but I also have many 4-8 pan ones that I have never featured before. This palette from Estee Lauder is one that I wear often.
20171105_121612

First off, I received this palette as a gift at the #LauderLovesCanada Event hosted by Dave Lackie. I have been using this since then and really enjoy it.

What it is
Long-lasting and luxe neutral hues with textures that create unexpected looks. This also claims to be crease-resistant and budge-proof.

Price
$55.00 CAD (.24 oz/7g) The price/gram for this is $7.86/gram. I think I will start creating a chart to break down the price per gram of all my palettes but this one might be the most expensive. It costs more per gram compared to my Kat Von D Sinner Saint palette and Tartelette in Bloom for instance but then again I use EVERY shade whereas in my other palettes there might be a few I don’t.
20171105_121648

Packaging
This packaging to me feels very sturdy. It’s a hard plastic domed case with gold trim. The one downside is that 1/3 of the palette was reserved to hold the sponge applicators which I don’t use. I wish they didn’t include them and either gave us more product or a smaller package.
20171105_121623

Colours
The palette I have is Ivory Powder which is a nice mix of light, cool browns. There are seven different palettes in this line. The colours work well together and compliment each other. I enjoy the tones in my palette because they are super versatile and wearable. I wear this quite a bit every day or as a base palette to throw pops of colour on top of.
20171105_121832
The shades don’t have names, but I numbered them the same way Estee Lauder does on the back of the packaging.

Application & Wear
These last a long time on the eye and I don’t need to start with a primer and I don’t find it creases. The shadows are super soft and blend well. The pigmentation is good but it does require building if you want an intense look. You have to also be careful not to blend too long or they will disappear.

For the look above, I put 2 all over my lid and built my crease with 3 to create some depth. I also placed 3 on my lower lid. I then took 4 to the outer half of my eyelid and blended 5 from the outer half of my lashline slight up and into 4. I then used 1 under my brow bone. I finished off the look with Teeez mascara.

Breakdown

Pros

  • Easy to put look together
  • Soft shadows
  • Nice formula

Cons

  • Pricey
  • Colours need building for intense looks
  • Don’t like sponge applicators

My Thoughts
I really enjoy this palette. The colours may not be the most exciting but it’s a perfect work/daytime palette for me. I think it makes a wonderful gift for someone you know who wears minimal makeup and doesn’t Awant to fuss with a really large palette. It’s also fantastic if you just need to have a base palette.

Have you tried any eyeshadows from Estee Lauder? What do you think of their items?

Lots of Love,
Dal

As mentioned above, I received this palette as a gift however my thoughts are honest and my own.

Review; Givenchy Noir Inderit Mascara

I’m sure you’ve all seen this mascara floating around the web and being reviewed everywhere because it’s just so darn interesting. If you haven’t seen this mascara, well, I’m here to show you and let you know my thoughts.

Whenever I think of Givenchy, I think of luxurious modern fashion and amazing perfume. Of course that meant that this mascara was going to be modern looking but also feel very luxurious. The packaging is really nice, I love the rectangular shape.
20170827_114352Now this mascara is very interesting. It has rubber bristles on one side and what makes it unique is the wand bends 90 degrees. I do like the formula of the mascara and love how intensely black it is.

It took me one or two uses to really get the hang of using the wand but once I did I found it made applying mascara much easier. I was able to get super close to my lash line and apply mascara onto the inner and outer 3rd of my lashes. Most of my other mascaras give me trouble whenever I try to get mascara on the inner 3rd of my lashes to coat the little hairs there but the design of this bent wand makes it really easy and comfortable to get into every corner with ease.
20170827_114431The look it gave on my eyes was very wispy and flirty. My lashes were evenly covered and nicely fanned out. My only downside is that it didn’t make them appear any thicker or super voluminous which is what I really like. I think it makes a great everyday mascara and looks really beautiful for a softer look, however, if I want something more dramatic, which is what I prefer, I will have to use something else in my collection.
Givenchy NoirI’m happy I was able to give this mascara a try. I’m not sure if I will purchase this particular one again. It retails for $38.00 CAD and I don’t think it gave me what I desire in a mascara. I did like the formula so I wonder if I might prefer one of the other mascaras Givenchy has to offer.

Have you tired this mascara? What are your thoughts on the design?

Lots of Love,
Dal

I received this product complimentary of Canadian Beauty Bloggers Network to test and review. My opinion is honest and my own.

Easy Summer Makeup Routine

I keep my makeup pretty simple because I just can’t seem to wake up early enough to complete a full-face look before I head out the door! I thought I’d share my makeup application for the summer because it only takes me about 15 minutes to put together so it’s great if you are in a rush.

First things first is my morning face routine, if you missed that post you can read it here.

Summer Makeup Routine 2017 (7)To start, I’ve been forgoing foundation and sticking to tinted moisturizers or BB creams. My current fave is Garnier’s Ombrelle tinted SPF which I’ve mentioned in my morning routine. After BB cream I’ll use concealer to add coverage to the areas under my eyes and around my nose. I have been using my Nars Radiant Concealer because it gives good coverage without being heavy and blends easily into my skin. I do about 3 dots under my eyes, a little line down the bridge of my nose to highlight, and then on the sides of my nose to cover redness I get around there.

Summer Makeup Routine 2017 (5)I’ll do a quick eye look using only two shadows from one of my Smashbox Covershot palettes (see my review of the palette by clicking here)

Summer Makeup Routine 2017 (6)I have been loving Ablaze for summer. I put Throwback in the crease and Moccasin over the lid and blend it together.

I don’t always wear liner because it takes the most of my time, but when I have an extra five minutes I will do a winged liner using Kat Von D’s Mad Max Brown Liner. I never skip mascara and right now Sephora’s Full action Mascara in brown is great at separating my lashes and making them appear thicker.Summer Makeup Routine 2017 (9) I have pretty full brows but for extra impact I’ll add Benefit’s Goof Proof Brow Pencil. It really is goof proof for me because it’s a thicker angled pencil that I can quickly swipe in-between the hairs in my brow to give it a soft definition.

Summer Makeup Routine 2017 (14)After, I take a fluffy brush and put Physician’s Formula #InstaReady Bronzer all over the perimeter of my face. I love that this bronzer is light and buildable. It’s surprisingly smooth and never looks patchy.  This is more cool toned which works great for my skin tone and leaves me with a more natural look.

Summer Makeup Routine 2017 (13)I like keeping my look bronze so I’ve been wearing Sephora’s blush in Apricot sheen. I recently bought this because it was on sale and I’m so happy I did! It is a nice peachy-bronze with gold reflex that isn’t in your face but adds a bit of sheen and highlights my cheeks. This is also a light blush so I can build it up or keep sheer.

Summer Makeup Routine 2017 (10)Last is lip balm. I have two that I love equally and keep in my bag. One is Bite Beauty’s amazing Agave Balm. It smells great and feels super comfortable on the lips. It has no colour but gives shine to my natural lip. The other is Fresh Sugar Balm sample in Rose which has a light red tint. I like this as a pick-me-up if I’m going out after work. It also has SPF 15 adding a bit more protection for my lips.

Although I’ve listed out quite a few products they don’t require too much work to apply so I never take long to put them on.

What’s a summer look you love wearing?

Lots of Love,
Dal

Unboxing Boxycharm, May 2017

Price: $21.00 USD (+$5.00 shipping to Canada) Number of items: 4-5 full-size items.
Boxycharm is a monthly subscription box of full-size makeup, skincare and beauty tools. This month’s theme is Makeup is Art.

IBY Beauty Highlight and Countour Palette
Retail Price: $40.00 US
20170513_115942

I never really got into the highlight and contour craze although I did try it out on the blog at one time. If you want to read that post you can here. I’m going to save this palette because I can probably use the lighter shades to set my makeup and the darker shades in lieu of bronzer. I do like the shades here and the thin and sleek packaging.

Crown Pro Round Contour Brush
Retail Price: $24.99 US|
Collage_Fotor

Although I do appreciate the attempt to add a tool that can be used with the palette that was sent in this box I really think this brush is just a bit big on my face to use for contouring. As you might have seen in my previous posts I really love these types of brushes for foundation so I’ll use it for that instead. This brush is super soft and nicely packed. It really puts the ones I’ve been picking up from Amazon to shame! I also love that this came with a cover to protect the brush head.

The BrowGal Convertible Brow
Retail Price: $35.00 US
20170513_104800

I swear of heard of BrowGal before, I wonder if I’ve received any of their products in other boxes. I used to only use brow powders when I first got into doing my eyebrows so I’m actually looking forward to using this. I like that you can add a little water to this too to give it more of a pomade texture.  I also like that Boxycharm included the The BrowGal Brow Brush, this one is $14.00 US. I always love having extra brow brushes and mascara wands laying around to use on my brows.

Oh I love this pearl highlighter! This was made in collaboration with Boxycharm and the highlighter can be used all over the face for luminous complexion or just on the high points of the face. You are supposed to apply this with your fingers. I’ve actually been using my liquid highlighters all over the face and then dotting concealer where I need it to give me a more dewy, vibrant look for the spring. Highlighter is a hard product for me to finish up because you only need a little but this technique lately is making them multi-purposeful.

My Thoughts
This month feels like we are covering the basics which include contouring, highlighting the face and sculpting the brows. I love that Boxycharm included tools that they hoped could be used with the products they sent. Very useful for someone who may not have a large collection of brushes. I’m REALLY happy with everything I received! Total Value of this month’s box: $143.49 US or $196.79 CAD!! WOW!

Did you get Boxycharm this month? What did you think of the items?

Lots of Love,
Dal
